humit - A Music Sharing App!

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 07:33 AM PDT

humit is the Spotify - Reddit lovechild that my friends and I have created from the ground up, and we'd love for you to check it out!

If you like a song, you find it on humit, choose the 30s of the song you want to share and post it on channels (which kind of work like subreddits) or to all your followers. Similarly, if you're looking to find cool new songs and find people with cool music, you can scroll through channels and stations and listen to their stuff. You can even bookmark the ones you like and they automatically get saved to a Spotify playlist (if you've connected your account that is)

We recently launched an android update with a smooth and slick ️UI, revamped hum creation & station discovery, and a seamless free user experience.

I would be super super grateful if you all check it out: https://www.humit.app/

We also do regular music-related events and giveaways on our discord server: https://discord.gg/Q7tm8MHg6g

We've got SO much more to come and we're glad you're here with us on our voyage to make music social again! 🎶🎧

Looking for a habit tracker with an interactive widget

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 02:23 AM PDT

    Hi there!

I would like to track my habits but I tested at least 10 apps and none was good enough.

I don't really care about the design, the only requirements that I have are:

    • stats
    • at least 10 habits free
    • can setup per specific day in a week habits (ie. On Monday this and this but on Tuesday something else)
    • interactive list widget. That I can see the list of habits for today and I can click then

I tried ticktick - it can only have 5 free habits. I tried realtracker - stats are paid. I tried habitify - no widgets. Loop - almost perfect but can't track habits per à specific day.

    It drives me crazy.

    Thank you!!!

Why isn't there any actively developed, decent, open-source music player on Android?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 05:13 AM PDT

I've been searching for a decent music player that does the job but I don't think there is any, they all lack something. This is really surprising to me because a music player is an essential app, so I'd expect at least a few players that have been in development since Android 5 times.

Must-have features: * .flac + .cue support, which are two of the most common extensions when it comes to listening to music (record and cd rips as a single file + a cue). * Support for excluding folders because I don't want to see my voice recordings and Whatsapp audio with the music I listen to. * Gapless playback because such albums that require it have been in release at least for the last 50 years. * It has to be lightweight, I don't like seeing lots of features crammed into a piece of software. If you want your app to be able to download music from streaming platforms, make it extendible with extensions/plugins. Why would I need a 25 MB app (Harmonoid) while I could have a 2.6 MB music player (Pulse Music)? * Intuitive UI because who likes that page in Auxio taking lots of space only to search songs?

Other cool features that aren't as necessary: * Extendible, so you can install a plugin for lyrics, downloading music, or editing metadata. * Modern, because it is 2021 and most of our devices aren't running Android 4.

Contacts app that keeps contacts separate?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 03:11 AM PDT

My main issue is I need to use Viber, and Viber will always sync your contacts list to your Viber. However I use viber for desktop as well and there is no security option to lock Viber desktop with a pin, which allows other people to see viber contacts and chat history.

I need a contacts app that can segregate itself away from Viber and prevent its data from being synced with Viber. Are there any in android?

Is it to possible to extract a voice file from Telegram w/o having to record the screen?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 09:32 AM PDT

    Hi.

I have a voice file in a chat of Telegram and I would like to export it.

I know that recording the screen and the internal audio I can "save" it. However, I would like just to get the audio file without the video.

Is there any app that allow to only record the internal audio, without being forced to record also the screen?

    Thank you in advance

Looking for a phone detox app with a particular feature.

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 08:38 AM PDT

Is there a detox app out there that limits how much time per hour you use an app? Say it's set to five minutes, it will kick me off of an undesirable app that I can open up the next hour. Everything I can find only has daily limits.

This is Places, a public event-sharing app, that allows you to visualize scheduled events.

Here's the video, but please note it's based on a slightly older concept (includes more than just events).

    Looking forward to your feedback.

    location based check in app?

    Posted: 30 Aug 2021 11:06 PM PDT

okay there's got to be something like this out there

im looking for an app that will (ideally) track a streak of how many days i physically go to a location. (it's the gym, big surprise)

i don't want one that just asked "did you do this today?" because i will absolutely lie. i want something that relies on gps and location services to see that i have arrived at the gym, or maybe the "yes i did it" button can only be pressed within a certain radius of area i can set or something like that idk

    any ideas?

App for managing multiple work VPN connections

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 11:26 AM PDT

I manage MANY sites and while it's super convenient to have their vpn's on my phone so I can hop in for quick support or changes, managing all those VPN connections is a PITA. I've begun moving and assigning new sites to Wireguard almost purely because the management app is more convenient on both Android and even Windows than the stock options.

Does anyone have a recommendation for an app that can manage PPTP and L2TP VPN connections?

[DEV] "OnePic", a simple sharing pictures app based on chance

    Posted: 30 Aug 2021 02:26 PM PDT

    Hello everyone :)

I created OnePic, an simple social app where everyone can share his best pictures with the world.

The principle is simple, each member selects a picture of his choice from his gallery. Every 30 minutes, OnePic randomly selects a member's picture and displays it to all users on the main page of the app.

Here the link on playstore :

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.redstin.onepic

I created this app because I wanted everyone to have the chance to see their photos displayed to everyone who uses an app without actually being a celebrity or using a promoting service.

No registration is required to view shared photos but is required to attempt to share one.

The application is free, it just contains an advertising banner.

Do not hesitate to tell me if there are any bugs or others that I have not seen

Thank you very much for your attention and sorry for my English ^

Looking for a countdown widget that automatically syncs with Google Calendar, that isn't Hurry.

    Posted: 30 Aug 2021 06:36 PM PDT

Hey everyone, I like having a countdown widget on my home screen for all my daily appointments. I find it makes me more punctual and I'm someone who's normally always late, so that's a pretty big deal for me.

I'm currently using the countdown app/widget called Time Until. I like it overall, but I have a pretty full schedule lately, and I'm finding it tedious to add everything to the countdown widget manually. I was interested in finding one that syncs automatically with my Google Calendar.

I found one called Hurry that I thought was going to be perfect, since it does that and I could splurge for the premium version to make automatic calendar syncing work. But then I discovered that when the widget gets below an hour remaining on the countdown, just reads "0 Hours" instead of telling me minutes/seconds remaining. I don't find that tremendously helpful when I'm rushing to get out the door, lol. It does show me the minutes remaining if I open the app up, but that's an extra step that isn't the biggest deal in the world but I am sure will start to become annoying.

Anyway, I dug through the Google Play store for quite a while and despite having lots of options, I haven't been able to find any that seem to have what I want. The choices are overwhelming. Does anybody have any suggestions?

    Great note apps for lists

    Posted: 30 Aug 2021 09:52 PM PDT

Need app to make make lists. No sign in needed. Data stored on phone. Opens to the list that you pinned. What options are there for this?

If list can be groupped, that is a plus. For example, say a list is in group A. Then when you have that list open, all lists in that group would show by you just swiping right for example

This would be an amazing that would make a lot of lists way easier to find on the limited space of mobile.

How to pin notifications in the notification bar?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 03:21 AM PDT

Is there away or an app that let's me pin notifications in my notification bar. You know how you have it where you can pin apps in the recent apps section. Where when you pin an app if you click close all apps or try to swipe it closed it won't close because it's pinned. That's exactly what I want but for the notifications in the notification bar. I want to pin a notification so that if and when I click clear all the notification stays pinned and doesn't get deleted. Is there any way or any app that will do that and allow me to pin notifications?

Looking for a radio app that can "mix in" my own music

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 06:27 AM PDT

I am looking for a radio app that plays an existing radio station but allows me to mix in my own music. I mainly want to be able to get the local news but not the music. So I get the best of both world. Up to date news but my own music I already know I love or at least a genre I like. Sources for the music could be locally or even a playlist from other services.

I tried searching for something like this but it's hard to find the right search terms in case an app like this even exists.

    Cheers

Phone App - Filter out non-Contact calls

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 06:18 AM PDT

Are there any phone apps out there that send calls not in my contacts list straight to voicemail? The /r/technology post here made me realize I don't bother answering calls if I don't know the number, so there is no reason to not have an app filter instead of using my eyeballs.

New to Android 11 and Having A Couple Issues

    Posted: 30 Aug 2021 07:33 PM PDT

Pixel 5a came in the mail today. I'm coming from a Galaxy S7 with Android 8.

Overall, I really like Android 11 so far, with a couple of exceptions:

    1. Why in the hell can I not set a date in Alarm Clock? I tried setting a reminder in Calendar, but it does not function like an alarm. Any solution for this?

    2. On Android 8, I kept the calendar widget in a panel to the left of the main home screen. I kept my favorite apps in a panel to the right of the main home screen. In Android 11, it appears I am only able to add panels to the right of the home screen. Can I add one to the left?

EDIT to issue #2: Reading up on this and it seems there is nothing I can do aside from getting a custom launcher. Pretty shitty that the home screen on my 5 year old Android 8 device is more customizable than my brand new Pixel. Here's hoping 12 gives me some more control (doubtful based on what I've read).

    Launcher recommendation needed!

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 03:08 AM PDT

I just upgraded to Android 11 and find myself needing a new launcher, but with some specific requirements that I've found hard to satisfy for like a dozen of the popular ones I tried out:

    • swiping up from the bottom of the screen opens the app switcher (without visual glitches, I can install QuickSwitch if necessary for that)
    • swiping up anywhere else opens a pre-focused search (meaning keyboard already open) with several rows of recommended/recent apps whose icons are not on my homescreen (don't mind having to select the ones to hide), or: swiping up opens an app and an app which provides this search
    • swiping down opens the notification shade
    • icons from packs are selectable for apps on the home screen
    • dock can be disabled

Ideally I wouldn't have to pay like 5€ for what seems to be a pretty limited feature set but if necessary I would do so. Thank you so much for your help!!
