Are you a non-IT-worker who uses PowerShell? What do you use it for? Posted: 02 Jul 2021 05:16 PM PDT Hi all. I'm an IT professional, who uses PowerShell all the time for administering servers and cloud services. But, I was thinking, do non-IT people use PowerShell for anything? If so, I'm curious about what you use it for? I ask this because I'm a PowerShell nerd :) Thanks. [link] [comments]

Retrieving Windows Process tree Posted: 02 Jul 2021 11:30 PM PDT I am looking for any command in windows to get the process tree. I am aware that this can be done by third-party tools like volatility etc. But do we have any command to view the process tree in windows command prompt, Powershell or any other available native methods. Even from UI is it possible ? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Jul 2021 10:42 PM PDT Can I upgrade to Windows 8.1 Enterprise from Pro for free and not lose my data? I just want to try out the features of the Enterprise version. Or is there a separate app for that? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Jul 2021 06:07 PM PDT Microsoft PR team and the executives are getting really weird with the amount of arbitrary restrictions being placed on Windows 11, even if the CPU/Chipset supports TPM 2.0 and Secure boot At one point, Microsoft deemed Windows 7 (and Windows 8.1 which was still on mainstream support) for not having the features to "support the security features of Intel Skylake Chipsets" before they reversed the decision They never gave a real reason why on why they wouldn't support Windows 8.1 with Skylake which was nearly 3-4 years old other than the obvious attempt to force people on Windows 10 lol Now, Intel Skylake users are getting the shaft with Windows 11 since it hasn't been clear if Microsoft would support it. I think they stated that Intel Skylake and AMD Zen 1 chipsets aren't secure enough to meet the requirements for Windows 11. Previously Intel Kaby Lake was also being dropped for 11 before they reversed the decision, though it's not fully clear if they will support it this fall. Also, I'm aware that AMD Zen chipsets fall in the same category for this situation, but I'm not sure which is which since I had always used Intel for nearly 3 decades lol What do you guys think? Is Microsoft just throwing in arbitrary requirements for Windows 11 for chipsets, despite having motherboards that support TPM 2.0 and Secure boot? Is Microsoft trying to avoid another Windows Vista? Or did Microsoft PR fuck up again, like they always do? lol [link] [comments] |
