Posted: 29 Jul 2021 09:32 PM PDT DO NOT BUY HP!! I made the decision to purchase the HP Omen 17. I did not use it much and the motherboard broke in month 11 after purchase. My first complaint was with the company I bought it from, but after no luck, I went to HP. I sent HP the email thread between myself and the supplier in month 11 but because my first interaction with HP was after month 12, HP is not willing to fix it for free (motherboard cost the same as a new laptop). Even if it broke within 2 years, I think a $3000-plus laptop should last longer than that. Very disappointed with HP and their customer services - would not advise them. In the words of the case manager from HP: "As discussed, any electronic product has chances of failure". Maybe best if HP puts that on a big billboard for the consumer to see. Reapplying thermal paste and pads? Posted: 30 Jul 2021 04:00 AM PDT I have an almost 7 year old HP Envy 17" notebook and I believe it is thermal throttling so I think I will have to reapply the thermal paste, but what about the thermal pads on the GPU, do they need to be replaced? If so, are there specific ones I would need? Are there any recommended guides? I've never done anything like this before so any advice would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments]
We are having boot issues on one of our HP 245 G8 (AMD). It freezes on HP boot "splash screen". Posted: 30 Jul 2021 11:25 AM PDT If you enter BIOS though, quit it at once and reboot, it starts Windows flawlessly. Next start up - same thing. Tried resetting CMOS, reinstalling Windows - didn't help. Does someone have an idea where else to look? [link] [comments]

Macbook Air 2017 or Lenovo Flex 5 for photo editing? Posted: 30 Jul 2021 01:33 PM PDT Its almost imposible but I have found a new job in these covid-times..So I can choose between a Macbook air 2017 (i5, 8gb ram) and a Lenovo Flex 5 (ryzen 5 4500u ,8gb ram, touchscreen). The Lenovo has a way beter processor than the Macbook, however since I will be doing a lot of photo editing I also need a good screen quality. Which one would you guys choose when it comes to photo editing? [link] [comments]
How to find ntsc srgn and brightness of a panel? Posted: 30 Jul 2021 01:07 PM PDT Monitor of this laptop NH.QBCEK.008, with link https://www.box.co.uk/NH.QBCEK.008-Acer-Nitro-5-(2021)-AMD-Ryzen-7-16GB-RAM_3557433.html, no clue about the colour gamut and brightness. I'm paying particular attention since I got a 62% srgb ips panel which looks like ass, so I'm going to be sending that back and getting a better one [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Jul 2021 12:48 PM PDT I need to purchase a laptop for my University's landscape architecture programs, and it needs to meet certain requirements. It needs to be able to handle video editing, 2d & 3d rendering, and a lot of design software. I was hoping someone could provide recommendations that meet these college requirements (& not a Mac). Intel Core i7 or similar quad core processor, 3.1 GHz or greater Memory: Minimum 8 GB, but 16+ GB recommended Storage: Minimum 500 GB but recommend 1 TB (smaller SSD drives are also an option, paired with larger external storage but not preferred ) Graphics Card: 2 GB minimum (4 GB recommended) Display: 1920x1080 resolution minimum; size is a tradeoff between portability and screen space Network Card: Built-in wireless network card 802.11 (g or n), recommend built-in Bluetooth module Ports: DVI output or an HDMI output Ideally looking for a touch screen, and something under 5 lbs to carry to classes and studio. I don't mind smaller screens since I'll have to use a monitor to extend it regardless. Thanks! [link] [comments]
What's a fair price for a barely used laptop? Posted: 30 Jul 2021 05:16 AM PDT I bought a HP Envy 360 last July (with a Ryzen 4500 chip). Cost me just over $1000 CAD. I've used it daily from then until about January, when I got a job that provided it me with 2 laptops. Since then I barely use it. I think last time i turned it on was 2 months ago if not longer. What would a fair price be? I'm thinking of asking $700 [link] [comments]
Do Lenovo Legion laptops last for a long time and have good build quality? Posted: 30 Jul 2021 06:04 AM PDT Hi! I'm from the Philippines where import fees and taxes are huge. I'm entering college and I have been searching for a new laptop since my one (HP ProBook from 2010) died. Now, there aren't any Legion 5 Pros in stock anywhere (except grey markets, so no Lenovo warranty). However, there is one more laptop available somewhere near me—the Lenovo Legion 5 2021 non-pro model. I wanted to know if it could maybe last as long as my HP laptop did. I'll primarily be doing Accountancy-related things on it, as well as some gaming (Genshin Impact, The Witcher, Skyrim, other RPGs and open world games). I will also be trying my hand on photo and video editing, as well as streaming. I was thinking about getting a MacBook before I bumped into this and some reviews. Though, I wanted to hear from people who have had a similar laptop for some time. Also, I will eventually take the laptop to university and work. I was wondering if it will run for more than 7 hours on battery in cases where there are no available power outlets. Thank you! [link] [comments]
Don't know which laptop to choose. Posted: 30 Jul 2021 11:46 AM PDT I want a 17 inch gaming laptop but I can't decide what laptop to choose. I want it to be good at gaming and have atleast 1tb of storage and 16gb of ram. I have a budget of 1700€ to 2100€ [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Jul 2021 11:08 AM PDT I'm not planning to use it for gaming or some sophisticated software. I just need a laptop to take notes and access necessary websites with. I want a laptop which isn't going to freeze every 5 minutes while using websites like Quizlet or Memrise or require updates every week. My idea is to get an older one with Windows XP/7 or an older Macbook as I'm not familiar with other OS. Any suggestions which one would be the best option in this situation? [link] [comments]
Cannot buy a configurable HP Omen 15 and want to know why. Posted: 30 Jul 2021 07:16 AM PDT So I wanted to buy the HP Omen 15 and got a link where I can configure what I want in my machine. Here comes the problem for some reason you can only get it shipped to the US or at least I think so. The other thing is, I can buy from other sites that ship to Germany, but not only is the machine more expensive, the specs get worse too?!? I am very confused and would like to know if it is possible to sell it to me, or at least to know why it cannot be sold to me. Here is the link I used: [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Jul 2021 10:38 AM PDT I have an Acer Aspire F5 Laptop, and the charging LED keeps blinking orange for a sec after every 3 secs. I am working from home and have no idea how to fix this. It just blinks when the laptop isn't on charge, and my laptop either way works well till now, but I have no idea if this issue can actually be a big problem and result in my laptop dying. Can anyone please suggest me what should I do ? [link] [comments]
