| Google assistant responds but doesn't open Posted: 02 Jul 2021 05:30 PM PDT When I say "hey Google", the Google assistant does the little ping noise but doesn't open the app even when it replies to whatever I asked it. This is annoying when it says "here are some results I found" or whatever but it doesn't even open to show me the results it found. I have tried restarting my phone, checked if Google assistant needs to update, looked through the settings, and can't find anything about it. Has anyone else had this problem? (I am on a Galaxy S8+ on Verizon if that makes any difference.) [link] [comments]  |

Sample rates up to 48 kHz (but up to 44.1 kHz is recommended on devices with 44.1 kHz output, as the 48 to 44.1 kHz downsampler does not include a low-pass filter). 16-bit recommended; no dither applied for 24-bit. ". Does this mean that any and every android device(above android 3.1/4.1) fully supports decoding 16bit/44.1khz or 48khz audio? | I have to UNINSTSALL the Google Update 2-3 time a DAY to get Voice to Text to work Posted: 02 Jul 2021 04:38 PM PDT I compose 90% of my texts by clicking the speaker icon and speaking my message for which Google turns it into text. Recently the color of the Voice Button (microphone icon) has changed from Green to Blue. Whatever version is associated with the blue color button is absolutely has terrible accuracy. Typos everywhere and you can't click a misspelled or mis-typed work to use the correct suggestion, if that makes sense. I searched online and the fix is to go to Settings -> Apps -> GOOGLE, then click the upper right and uninstall updates. You get a message about it resetting to the factory version, which is good. Once you do this the Voice button goes back to the previous green version and is infinitely more accurate. The problem is... for no reason whatsoever (even if I don't touch my phone) at some random interval, the voice button will be the new poor blue button version again. This happens 1-5 times a day. I literally have to uninstall the update 20 times a week. I've made sure to go into the Google App and Google Voice settings and make sure that Auto-Update is turned OFF. I changed the SIMs names trought "SIM card manager" but it doesn't seems to actually change the name outside that menu. | The Evergrowing "Other" Category Posted: 02 Jul 2021 09:47 AM PDT So, my phone has been having a bit of a storage problem for the past week or so now. I look into what has been taking up a majority of this storage and most of it is being eaten up by the category labeled "other." I clean up all the cache I possobly can, have my phone down to 4 apps, and cannot do much of anything else to help it. I get a micro SD card of 64GB, hoping moving these apps to an external storage could give the internal storage some more free space, and if anything, whatever has been taking up so many GB could move to the SD card. Well, it did work, kind of. The apps, pictures and anything I could possibly move over to the SD card is on the SD card, but this "other" category is STILL continuously growing and taking more and more space on my internal storage. While the storage is not dangerously low, I fear that it is going to just keep coming back and making my phone inoperable. This is really my last resort- does anyone know a way to clear up this category, or to at the very least, keep it from growing and messing up my phone? And before anyone mentions it, I have tried multiple cleaning apps, they didn't help me whatsoever. [link] [comments]  |
| Google search bar gone? (Galaxy s9+) Posted: 02 Jul 2021 03:17 PM PDT Recently my bfs Google search bar on his home screen went missing. We tried adding it back with widgets, however that particular widget just opens a new tab in the chrome app. He liked that the old one kinda opened a separate page, that you could close within the app switcher and never have to see it again. But this other widget one opens a whole new tab and now he's just so mad that he has dozens of tabs for just random searches throughout the day 😂😂 I laugh but Its hard on his ADHD cuz sometimes you just wanna know something that came up and that's all. Like I said, we tried the widget one and it's completely different and I'm not quite sure why 😂 if anyone else has any possible insight that would probably make my day. We both have the same type of phone (galaxy S9+) so I know if it happens to me I'm gunna want to know how to fix it too lol. [link] [comments]  |
| Reaching a breaking point with Android & texting Posted: 02 Jul 2021 03:03 PM PDT I've been on Android devices for about 9 years now. And I absolutely love everything about them except for one absolutely ridiculous problem that I have no matter what phone I have. Texts getting stuck sending or coming through. Basically freezes my phone up for hours on end. No texts nothing. This has happened on every device I've owned, including by brand new note ultra. Doesn't matter the texting app either. Obviously this is a group chat issue, it starts there. Somebody sending multiple texts I guess my phone can't handle it and then my texts are stuck both outgoing and incoming. Doesn't matter what I do, nothing happens. I usually have to wait about 12 hours then the texts start flying. I've had messages sent and received 4 months later. I'm not kidding! Is there a fix? Duckduckgo shows Sweden on top of the search results just below the search bar while other sites like Nordvpn, Private internet access, expressvpn, whatismyipaddress.com show USA. Why? PS. Took all the suggested measures like putting it in rice, towel dry, etc. No dice, it refuses to turn on. I guess that's what I get. Anyway, is there some possible way to recover the data and transfer it to a new phone? I bought an S7 off of eBay because I like physical buttons and squared screens and I liked my j7 but didn't feel the need to upgrade to a 2020 phone, yada yada. Anyway, is it possible through some way through something like connecting the dead phone to a USB in a computer to recover all of the data to be transfered to the new phone? Today suddenly my phone stopped playing audio on the speaker when I play songs, YT or any other media, but I can hear sounds when doing phonecalls. It plays all sounds normaly on my headphones, but only plays on one ear bud. I have tested the headphones on my sisters phone and they work fine there so it must be the phones fault. But since using this Samsung phone, it sends it TWICE, and they sort-of interfere with each other. If I answer the first one then it doesn't seem to always work, but answering the second one works, But since you can't tell which came in first, it often doesn't work and I have to send it again. For some reason I cannot make or receive calls in my house, I can text and access mobile data perfectly fine, and my mom can call on her AT&T phone with no issues. | Why Can I Not Receive Text Messages?! Posted: 02 Jul 2021 10:18 AM PDT My phone did this thing the other night where I couldn't receive texts for a few hours then got them all at once. Today it's doing it again and it's been all day. I've confirmed I am successfully sending texts. Everything else is working perfectly fine. The only thing I can not do is receive texts. I've tried clearing the cache, deleting all my texts, restarted my phone, turned it off and left it off for a while, ensured messenger app is up to date, downloaded a different messenger app and tried it, reset my network settings. If it matters, I'm on at&t, I have cell service. Not on wifi. I don't have any to connect to at the moment, but when this happened the other night I was connected to wifi. [link] [comments]  |

However, lately my phone keeps getting disconnected from the PC (Windows 10). It looks like this: I'm using tethering when suddenly I lose internet connection and Windows plays the "device disconnected" sound. Suddenly my PC stops seeing my phone and the option to change USB connection type (tethering, MIDI etc.) disappears from my phone. Doesn't matter how many times I disconnect and re-connect the USB cable from my PC or what USB port I'm using, my phone won't connect to my PC until I restart the phone. I used to have that problem like over a year ago when it suddenly disappeared. I had no problems for over a year but now it's back. [link] [comments]  |

Posted: 02 Jul 2021 10:10 AM PDT I don't understand why it's so hard to get away from phisical buttons like the home button but the questions is are there any brands that still make new smartphones with such buttons? So the best options out there I found in this thread. The only brand that still makes those type of phones for android is Sharp. A full overview of the models is here and I just want to know if somebody knows a other brand because I don't know how good a sharp smartphone is and if somebody can recommand it. (It's meant to override Do Not Disturb and given the highest priority) I don't see anymore paid apps but now there's subscription based premium weather apps.
