| Posted: 29 Jun 2021 03:17 AM PDT This morning I was just on my phone, scrolling through reddit, watching youtube, then all of a sudden in the middle of a video my screen went black. I could still hear EVERYTHING. sound of the system, the video itself, notifications. After I restarted it with the power and sound button, it was still black. I managed to unlock my phone with my password, which means the touchscreen works as well. Can't even stress how annoyed I am by this. When i'm watching something on netflix, the video just pauses turns a bit foggy and then goes back like i pressed the back button, it also happens when i'm on a whatsapp call just my screen doesn't pause it just acts like i pressed on the back button, also when i'm typing a message on instagram the keyboard just dissapeared like i pressed on the back button, and when i'm on tiktok my screen just freezes for a second, turns foggy, and goes back to normal. | Posted: 28 Jun 2021 09:07 PM PDT I have strong suspicions to believe my andriod phone is hacked and there are people who are able to see what I do on my phone screen in the same house while using cellular data not even wifi(So obviously not casting).I know it's another tech noob post.I'd just ask you to brainstorm if this is possible as i'm not knowledgable enough?.The only other explanation would be a hidden camera. I forgot to add i had my bootloader unlocked for a brief period while reflashing stock rom. The Litmus test I used is whenever I check explicit content on my phone someone has a weird or disgusted reaction and says look at what he's watching. I have the option to send it to my new phone but sending it does nothing. Same goes for sending a link/tab to my phone. I still have the option to send it but it does nothing. What gives? Posted: 28 Jun 2021 11:45 PM PDT I'm planning to get a new phone, but I've been told that I should avoid Chinese brands (huawei, xiaomi) when buying a new smartphone because they collect data, but doesn't Google already do that? What's the difference, if there is? I need google services as well because it's very convenient and all my stuff sync, so I guess there's no way out of that part. Also, what's the worst thing that could happen if they collect my data? Should I be concerned even if I'm just a nobody? Is it worth buying other brands even though they are more expensive? Saying package is shipped and ready to be tracked etc etc please download the app from this link. Friend goes ahead and downloads the app but thankfully didn't have time to look at it after installing it. I have run the app through virus total and it has been flagged by 9 vendors. | What do you do with an Android 4.4 tablet? Posted: 28 Jun 2021 03:53 PM PDT I've done my share of tech support over the years, but mostly on Windows computers. I'm less fluent in Android. I do own an Android phone and I know my way around the settings, but today I'm working on a Samsung Android tablet for a client and could use some counsel. It's a Samsung SM-T230NU running Android 4.4.2 (KitKat). I've tried updating it, but the OS insists it's up-to-date. I assume this means that the OS doesn't think it can be upgraded any further. Some forum posts insist that similar devices can run Lollipop, but I haven't yet tested their claims. The tablet works. I can launch and use apps, connect to the internet, take photos, etc. It chokes on 1080p video but doesn't have a problem with 720p. The battery holds a charge. The screen looks fine. It sells on eBay for about 35 bucks, plus shipping. What kinds of limitations will this device have? Will it be a security risk? Will it refuse to work with certain apps and web pages? Bottom line: Should I tell the client they can keep it and use it as long as they continue to enjoy it? Or should I encourage them to get rid of it and get a new one? [link] [comments]  |
