Do you partition your laptop SSD’s? Posted: 02 May 2021 11:41 AM PDT I've seen a lot of discussion on this topic and I figured I'd conduct a poll here. Also, this poll is assuming you have a single SSD in your laptop. Not a desktop PC with a SSD boot drive and a secondary HDD. [link] [comments]
Standard Troubleshooter replaced with livechat?? Why??? Posted: 02 May 2021 12:38 PM PDT So I have an issue with my audio interface that requires me to unplug and replug the USB sometimes. Not a huge issue. I should just upgrade my hardware. Occasionally, I have to run the troubleshooter to get my laptop to recognize the issue. Also no problem, the troubleshooter takes care of it within 10 seconds. But suddenly, starting last night, the button for "Troubleshoot sound problems" which has always opened the standard troubleshooter as it should, started opening up the "Get Help" feature and connected me to a fake live-chat which just confirms my default laptop speakers work, and then connects me to a REAL live chat where I have to take the time to explain the issue to somebody what went wrong. Ironically they just told me to take this new route to run the old troubleshooter! WHY?! I've already gone ahead and uninstalled the Get Help feature. Terrible time-wasting update. Give me back my old troubleshooter. [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 May 2021 01:17 PM PDT Is it easy to make multiple users? So I purchased a new desktop. Currently my wife and I use old crappy separate laptops. She got a new job and will be mostly from working at home. The hospital gave her an even crappier laptop and a horrible screen. They allow you to use your own equipment I guess too. So i bought a decent desktop and a new monitor. Should be here this week. Oh and its windows 10. Anyways, I figured id do a little gaming, and she could use it for her work. Id make multiple users if possible. Could someone explain to me how to do this? Is it possible to keep our programs separate? Any tips or suggestions? Thanks! [link] [comments]

Why so many blue-tooth headsets have connectivity problem with Windows (MSTeam) Posted: 02 May 2021 10:36 AM PDT Today I purchased and then returned JBL Tune 700 headset because, though the overall quality and build was good, it was not working with MS Team on my windows PC (Which is 2 Year old HP Elite book 840). I found that lot of people have reported that issue for that particular headset (almost for every model of JBL Headsets). MS team is not the only culprit same issue was there on the google meet also. This happens when you want to use the both Mic and Audio from the bluetooth headset, if you switch mic to another device and set the bluetooth to sound only (stereo) then Sound works (But it beat the purpose), but they just work fine with any version of the mobile phone you are using, Audio in and out just goes through. I researched more and found out that JBL is not the only culprit most of the blue-tooth available in market have same problem, But some other models just works, like JBL 205BT Earphone (I have), Sony WH-1000XM3 (my friend have). There is huge price difference between (style type) these models. I am not able to figure out what is causing the issue and which bluetooth headphone to buy which can guarantee proper working with MS Team/ PC Calls. [link] [comments]
Using Remote desktop like a remote control Posted: 02 May 2021 02:10 PM PDT I am trying to figure out a way to use remote desktop like a Tv remote control. I have Microsoft remote control working from my PC to the app on my phone, but is there any way I can use my phone to control while keeping the computer monitors hooked up to my PC? the plan is to be able to control windows from a couch with my phone and have it display to the TV connected to my computer. Anyone know how to do this? [link] [comments]

what spreadsheet software lets you make edits across devices in real time? Posted: 02 May 2021 01:59 PM PDT I know O365 has this but what other ones does too? Or if not real time, one that when you press save it will transfer these edits to other devices too [link] [comments]
What is the deal with windows updates? [Rant] Posted: 02 May 2021 09:34 AM PDT For about the last year, every update on my PC has been a painful 48 hour event. The computer becomes completely unusable while the updates download and install (not just the blue screen time, but the time when the windows update & security menu is still open). Even downloads (on 5g, fast internet) take 5+ hours. I started 2 updates at 10pm last night and as of now one is still on 21% install. It would be one thing if this happened every 6 months, but now these updates seemingly happen every week. This was a top of the line computer a couple years ago and it rendered completely useless while these updates are occuring, which is nearly constant. How this process takes up so much computer resources and takes such an insane amount of time totally baffles me. I just wanted to wake up early and finish my taxes today, and this goddamn Dell PC is still unusable. [link] [comments]
MBR or GPT in Rufus creating a bootable usb? Posted: 02 May 2021 09:13 AM PDT I want to install a Windows 10 PRO (64-bit) on a PC with a bootable USB stick. To convert the USB stick, I will use Rufus. And there is asking me "Partition scheme:" MBR or GPT. I searched a little on google and the MBR is an old way and the GPT is the new. More than that, I don't really know. What should I select and why? Thanks in advance for those who respond. [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 May 2021 04:39 AM PDT This is Windows 2000 in DOSbox. The reason that setup can't succeed is that I can't put disk 2 without getting rid of disk 1. [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 May 2021 07:40 AM PDT I have (had) a dual boot system with Linux on Disk 0, and Windows on Disk 2. The only thing left on Disk 0 is an EFI system partition with GRUB. Here is a screenshot of diskmgmt. My Windows boot loader is located on the C drive: SO, I think the GRUB is the only thing left on that drive, and I believe I can safely delete that partition.... but I want to make sure from people more knowledgeable than me first. When I boot Windows, I manually select to boot out of Disk 2 every time. If I delete that EFI partition on disk 0, will this mess up my loading of windows? [link] [comments]
