    Hey everyone,

    I am working on a turn-based Dungeon Crawler called Sonucido: The Mage. Around 7 years ago I fell in love with Legend of Grimrock and since then I always wanted to create my own spin on the Dungeon Crawler RPG genre.

    Never heard of Grimrock? Remember the Windows Maze 95 screensaver? A little bit like that, if you haven't touched a Dungeon Crawler yet :D

    After years of making games in teams, I decided to make the jump and learn programming myself and this is my biggest project so far. Apart from me, my fiancee helps me with creating cutscene art and she works on the website.

    Some facts about the game:

    - Turn-based, grid-based, classic 90° view

    - Your choices have a lot of impact and there are multiple endings

    - You can't cast magic but you can throw bombs!

    - There are a lot of different enemies you need to overcome

    - No long tutorials, no novel-length texts

    - The game will work on a wide range of hardware

    - Will be released for Windows before Q4 this year!

    Would it be possible to adjust monitor brightness from windows software?

    I have 2 (soon-to-be 3) monitors that I use from dusk until dawn as I work from the afternoons until nightfall. As a result of this, I find myself spending a good amount of time fiddling with the various buttons on my monitors to get a comfortable and consistent brightness when night comes. This can honestly be seen as a non-issue to most, but for me a remedy for this minor inconvenience would mean the world to me.

    Is there any way I can use a slider of sorts to adjust my brightness through software as if I were using a laptop or would there be hardware limitations preventing this?

    How can I make Windows notify me when my battery level is low?

    I've gone to Control Panel>Power Options>Change Advanced power settings and turned on the low battery and critical battery notifications for plugged in and on battery states but still don't get that notification. On a family member's account with the same setting, they are getting it.

    What can I do to solve this?

    Can someone please replace a certain file in the Windows 2000 install disk? I own windows 2000 and do not encourage piracy in any way.

    I would like to install Windows 2000 on my PC (because I only own a Windows 2000 install disk and I do not want to p1rat@ anything newer(I said it like that so it would not be removed), however one file prevents this computer from installing it is NTDETECT.COM in the i386 folder. I need someone to replace the NTDETECT.COM file from the i386 folder in the 2000 install disk with the one on the XP install disk both are located in the i386 folder on the install disk. I cannot do this myself as my Mac I want to install this on does not have an operating system on it (I am typing this on my phone) and my Mac that does have an OS on it cannot write to the disk image I create of the install disk, even after I convert it to read/write.

    Transparent Notes for Windows 10?

    I saw a really nice app on the mac app store called "Transparent Notes". Basically you can write note on hit, but the background is completaly transparent, so you can see what's behind (here's the link: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/transparent-note/id974837912?mt=12).
    I was wondering if there is an alternative for Windows 10😅...

    How to force Windows touchpad drivers over Elan

    Elan's drivers have randomly taken over my Dell inspiron 7559. Initially, I was using Microsoft's touchpad drivers, but now this is constantly replaced by Elan's drivers. With these inferior drivers, the mouse moves sporadically, either moves way too slow or way too fast (funky acceleration), there is no two finger scroll, no continued mouse movement when reaching the end of the touchpad while click and dragging and pinch to zoom is basically just ctrl + scroll up/down. WHYYYYYYY????????

    The only way I get the Microsoft drivers to work is by reinstalling the Elan drivers and restarting Windows, there is a 1/2 chance the driver install fails and falls back to Microsoft drivers.

    Uninstalling the Elan Drivers in Device Manager bricks the laptop, and not even safe mode fixes this.

    Windows XP Mode in 2021

    I recently had the chance to take a look at Windows XP mode. Windows XP mode was an easy way to virtualize Windows XP inside of Windows 7. Microsoft created this for software compatibility, and as a way to entice Windows XP users to upgrade to Windows 7.

    Unsurprisingly, XP mode did not run well virtualized.

    I know this is dumb but I downloaded this and it didn’t work well so I got a better one for a dollar, but now it still uses this program to install the videos I’m using, So how do I uninstall this? I’m trying to but it’s not working.

    When using shuffle play: There's this 1 in 10 chance of a song that just played to play again instead of shuffling to a new song. It is easy to experience once your play list has hundreds of songs. This forces me to either endure it or alt tab and manually skip to the new song.

    Maybe I need a new media player, not one programmed by people who thought they were smart alecks.

    Only games force close and crash, then my display turns out like this. It will come and go, but only crashes when I play games. running windows up to date, deleted and installed drivers again, Unmounted and mounted gpu, updated drivers, still no fix. Any ideas guys?

    anyone know why my mic shows input in volume mixer but wont record any sound or work in voice chat while playing games? its not just my mic either its the built in laptop mic and anything i plug into it as well so I think its probably something in settings, ive tried finding stuff on google but all i could find was someone with the same problem and any answers people had for it didnt work for them or me, its really annoying since i usually just use my laptop to play games with friends but not being able to talk to them kind of takes away all the fun

    Problems installing Windows 2.0 in FreeDOS (yes this is a support question, however it kept getting removed from r/TechSupport for containing problems related to unsupported operating systems).

    I know that Windows 1.0 and 2.0 can be run from FreeDOS (according to wikipedia), however when I type "win" (without the quotes) to launch windows 2.0, it shows the boot screen then a bunch of random characters and then crashes to the DOS command prompt. It does not matter if I add SET OS_NAME=MS-DOS and SET OS_VERSION=3.3 or 2.0 entries to AUTOEXEC.BAT. Once again PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THIS IT KEPT GETTING REMOVED FROM r/TechSupport FOR BEING RELATED TO UNSUPPORTED OPERATING SYSTEMS.

    RDP configuration needs an improvement for PCs logged in with a Microsoft Account.

    Computers logged in with Microsoft Account and has passwordless experience set up is practically impossible for normal users to connect via RDP. If this is by design, MS should clarify it in the RDP setup page in the Settings app, and disable the RDP with appropriate messages.

    If this isn't by design and is merely a design oversight, these are a couple of my ideas to improve the RDP configuration in this Scenario.

    1. Have the computer routinely sync the MS account password with the underlying Windows local user account: According to my understanding, this is what happens when you log in to the computer using your Microsoft account password. The computer syncs the password with the local user account, and you can use the RDP with the MS account once this has been done. The problem is that the password doesn't sync when you change the MS account password, and you have to repeat the same process for every computer when you change your MS account. This is not only an inconvenience but also a potential security issue, which lets attackers connect to the user's PC via RDP using a compromised password. RDP also doesn't require 2FA by default, so this might even be flagged as a potential vulnerability. Having the computer updating the user password automatically could at least mitigate these issues.
    2. Add MS account support for RDP apps, either on the client-side or server-side: It's been a while since MS released the UWP RDP client, but the account setup still only supports the username/password method. If MS is going to push forward with passwordless computing, they should update the RDP infrastructure to support passwordless computing as well. Having it work with Windows Hello and MS push authentication using the Authenticator app would make the experience even better.

    I need my laptop in an hour. Can't do that because I just changed my password and it won't accept my changed password on my laptop. Guess I'll log in via safemode? No, bitlocker is in the way. I never set up bitlocker and I have no recovery codes in my account. Doesn't work. So, I fired up a USB and just installed a new windows version.

    Such a good software, not at all an abusive monopoly.
