OnePlus’ advertising strategies are getting creepy Posted: 26 Feb 2021 07:43 AM PST I was having a bad day and waiting for a work related email. Ding. I check and there is an email from OnePlus about some 60% discount on some products at their online store. Deeply annoyed, I resolved to unsubscribe from the damn email thing which I didn't sign up for in the first place (at least I don't recall signing up for it). Anyway, the link for unsubscribing had such a small font size, I had to zoom in to tap on the link (this is something straight out of the "how to be an send an obnoxious mass email" guidebook). Glad that I had somehow managed to unsubscribe, I went back to my work. An hour or so later, ding! Another notification. This time from an app which has thus far never sent me a notification (which is why I hadn't turned off the notifications for the app in the first place). It's again that same 60% off discount offer. But this time the app is OnePlus Care! They must've tracked that I had unsubscribed to that email newsletter and decided to badger me with a notification from a customer support app (OnePlus Care) instead. Getting incessant advertising notifications is why I uninstalled the OnePlus Store app. Now they're using the Care app to send advertising notifications. This is highly unethical and goes against every reason people choose a brand like OnePlus. They're becoming just as annoying as Xiaomi and the plethora of other Chinese brands which are involved in such practices. OnePlus should always remember that the cheapest iPhone, the iPhone Mini, is now faster than the fastest OnePlus and is cheaper than their flagship OnePlus phones. People don't have to put up with this nonsense from OnePlus any more. Their value proposition is getting poorer by the day. They should remind themselves of this basic fact every day that they go to work. (I'm located in India) [link] [comments]

A simple One-handed mode that shrinks the screen, like other OEM provides. Posted: 25 Feb 2021 10:19 PM PST I have suggested Oneplus Team many times at various places about this. Instead of working on reachability and customising OS to bring buttons at reachable distance why not give a SIMPLE ONE-HANDED MODE like other OEMs provide. Just shrink the screen. Benefits of this move: 1. Easy operation 2. Amoled screens can save battery. With the current trend seems like OP Team doesn't even care for customers. Sad to see such an enthusiastic team taking this dip. Edit: Big Screen is great for entertainment i agree but this feature is helpful in handling phone while you are on the move. And folding phones are too costly. [link] [comments]
Is it worth buying the Oneplus 7t in 2021 Posted: 26 Feb 2021 08:02 PM PST I've been looking for a new phone to purchase for the past few months yet still havent as I'm unsure of my choice I'm a student so I;ll probably be using this phone for around 5ish hours per day and will take loads of photos and videos using front-facing and rear cameras. Should I go for the Oneplus 7t or wait for the Oneplus 9 Lite/R/E which is set to come out next month ? Any advice would be great [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Feb 2021 07:39 AM PST Is there a charging cable that's 2m long and supports warp charging? Could i buy any third party cable that's capable of 6a current and get Warp charging (supposed i use original brick)? [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Feb 2021 09:01 AM PST Hey guys so I made a similar post to this last time, but since then things have changed. Basically my google play store (not the services) is eating up a lot of battery while being in active use, even though I have not opened the app and used it for that long. I have no idea what's causing this , but its draining heck lot of battery. As of now it has been in active use for over 17 hours 45 mins and drained a lot of battery overnight. I have to disable the app every night just for it to not be able to drain my battery. If anyone has a fix for this please let me know, because this is now becoming very annoying and I have no clue on what is causing this. I am also attaching a screenshot showing the battery usage of play store. Thanks [link] [comments]

Posted: 26 Feb 2021 04:17 PM PST I'm looking at a decent flagship type phone that's fast and has a decent battery life. The OP8 Pro has my eyes. Any thoughts on it? Any other phones at this price point that might be better? [link] [comments]
What happens if i deactivate the default system Apps? Posted: 26 Feb 2021 03:36 AM PST What happens if i deactivate the default system Apps and use the Google Apps from the play store? I had a Google Pixel 1 and i loved the stock Android and i switched because of this to Oneplus (its similar to stock Android). I installed now on my Oneplus 8 the Google pixel live wallpapers and the Contact Apps and SMS App and the Dialer App, i deactivated all the default apps. Will the phone still work normal? Posted: 26 Feb 2021 04:38 AM PST I've had my phone for a little over a year at this point and the oleophobic costing is starting to wear off and it has gotten progressively harder to remove fingerprints and smudges. I've looked around Amazon but I suspect that there's cheaper alternatives under different names, most of the products are tiny bottles or one time use packets and they charge a lot of money (considering that I have to redo the coasting quite often). Can I just buy car polish and use it instead or something else? I feel like oleophobic coating is just a fancy name for oil resistant coating so there should be cheap alternatives out there. Bugs on LineageOS on OnePlus 6 Posted: 26 Feb 2021 01:56 PM PST After a few weeks of trying LineageOS on my OnePlus 6, I found some bugs:

Having Trouble Rolling Oneplus 7 back to Android 10 from Android 11 Beta 2 Posted: 26 Feb 2021 12:37 PM PST I am unable to answer calls on Beta 2 and trying to roll back to Android 10 Stable. I have googled, hard reset, and downloaded several "rollback" updates. I am stumped. Help needed please. [link] [comments]
Keyboard doesn't always open in the app drawer. Posted: 26 Feb 2021 11:22 AM PST I have it set so that the app drawer automatically opens to the search bar, but like half the time the keyboard doesn't open and I have to close and open it again. Does anyone else have this problem or know of a way to fix it? [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Feb 2021 07:28 AM PST I'm pretty confused and could do with some help. I made a repair request to OnePlus for my 7 pro due to burn in of the fingerprint scanner icon. Since it's not something that is shown on screen for a long time, I think it's a display defect so that's what I wrote. I just got an email from OnePlus that said "Your request has been registered successfully" and was emailed a returns label. Nowhere does it say how much I will be paying, so how does it work? I don't want to send my phone off without knowing the repair costs. Would really appreciate some advice from people with previous RMA experience, thanks. [link] [comments]
Keyboard doesn't work in default SMS app Posted: 26 Feb 2021 10:27 AM PST In the default SMS app when I try to write any SMS to anybody, after selecting the recipient, I cannot type any message. Using the default GBoard, typing suggestions appear on the top, but nothing else happens if I click them or type any characters/words. This error happens only in this SMS app, the keyboard works fine in any other app. How do I fix this? On 8pro, on latest update: 11.0.4.4.IN11BA [link] [comments]
OnePlus 8 Pro - Face Unlock Setup Posted: 26 Feb 2021 03:08 AM PST Trying to setup my Face Unlock with OP8Pro, asks for my PIN then asks for it again and again and again... I used my PIN to unlock the lock screen setup in the same menu but it's not working for Face Unlock setup. What's going on here? Am I missing some configuration or can I not setup Face Unlock while I have finger print unlock set? [link] [comments]

Posted: 26 Feb 2021 03:04 AM PST So currently i have a an iphone 7 which is completely fucked... and i really wanted to get an OnePlus. The thing is that i kinda have a low budget and i would only buy the Oneplus 8 if it is really worth it. So does anyone know if it is worth it over the OnePlus nord? [link] [comments] |
