Laptop for Skype conversations Posted: 26 Feb 2021 02:01 AM PST Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Netherlands. 500 euro's. If there is a steal of a deal i would go to max 600 euro's. Are you open to refurbs/used? How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? How important is weight and thinness to you? Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Long-lasting uni laptop, maximum $1200 AUD Posted: 26 Feb 2021 04:22 AM PST Hello! My old chromebook is seriously failing me and can't deal with Zoom at all, so I'm looking for a relatively lightweight laptop to take on campus/ commute with that has a high battery life. Currently eyeing the HP Envy 13 from the online store (11th Gen i5, 256 GB SSD, 51 Wh battery) which comes just below budget with a student discount, but I'd like to know of any better alternatives before I commit! LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE
$1200 AUD maximum, Australia
Yes but preferably new.
Battery life > performance > build quality > form factor ? Battery is #1 but it needs to handle many tabs / zoom / multiple apps at once :')
Pretty important as I'm looking for something lighter than my gaming laptop; below 2kg is a must.
N/A
Not foreseeing much (that couldn't be done at home), any gaming would be casual/lightweight, Caves of Qud level probably?? In other words not a concern
No specific settings/FPS, would like to have at least an i5 or AMD equivalent for good performance tho.
Finger-print reader would be nice but not required, same for backlit keyboard.
Any experience with HP Envy 13 / ordering direct from HP? I've seen..mixed reviews.. Would also like to stick to Windows as the OS :) [link] [comments] |

Looking for a workstation with good build quality Posted: 26 Feb 2021 02:51 AM PST Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: €1750 ~ €2250 The Netherlands Are you open to refurbs/used? Yes How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? A workstation with good build quality. Doesnt have to be superfast, just fast enough to work in CAD and play some games. Im thinking of i7-10750H, Quadro T1000 and 16GB RAM. Battery life is not important because it's 95% of the time plugged in. How important is weight and thinness to you? I am a big boy now, so weight is not an issue. Do you have a preferred screen size? 15,6. I have a 4k 28" monitor. Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. AutoCad, Revit, Sketchup, Chrome If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? CS:GO, i'm okay with medium setting Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Just good overal build quality. Dont need a touch-screen. Must have a num-pad. Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I was searching for a fast notebook within my budget that I can also use in the office. 95% of these are gaming laptops which are not representable in the office. So I came across the MSI Creator 17 with very good specs (i7-10875H and RTX 2060) and a great 4K display. I've had it with for a week. I returned it because I didnt like the build quality and when I did work with 3D models, it became very hot and the fans made a lot of noice. So for now I'm thinking about getting a real workstation. I'm doubting between the following models: HP ZBook Fury 15 G7 Lenovo Thinkpad P15 Dell Precision 7550 ASUS ProArt Studiobook Pro Can you guys give me advice about which one to get? I'm leaning towards the HP Zbook... [link] [comments] |

Price is flexible somewhat but I do want a relatively inexpensive laptop. All help and suggestions are appreciated. [link] [comments] |
