Posted: 25 Feb 2021 12:53 PM PST Samsung Galaxy S8+ recently become temperamental to touch, it works as usual for 30-60 min bursts. At other times I have to press extremely hard on the screen to get a response, sometimes there is no response at all, particularly when try to use navigation buttons at bottom of screen or trying to pull down notification bar at top of screen. There was no preceding event to cause this e.g. dropped phone or water damage etc, however the screen is cracked in the corners and has been for quite a few months. I've tried the following fixes: Clean phone - no difference. Reboot phone - no difference. Remove SIM card - no difference. Booting in safe mode - no difference, ruled out an app causing the problem. Tapped on corners in case of loose digitiser cable - no difference. Run Samsung diagnostic tests via *#0*# - phone worked normally throughout this, touch screen test passed with no issues whatsoever. Used third party apps to calibrate screen - no difference apparent, however the screen felt even more responsive during the moments it decided to work normally. Factory reset - resulted in an improvement for a few hours, then returned to being temperamental. Would appreciate any insights/advice anyone has to give. Very willing to pry it open and poke around the insides. Thanks. [link] [comments]

Weird sound that pops up every other minute or so Posted: 25 Feb 2021 04:14 AM PST This is the weird springy sound At first, I thought it was coming from my headphones, unplugged them to clean the drivers, and heard it coming from the speakers as well. I've been searching for a solid 2 hours on what the heck this sound is and any other people who've encountered this and I've found nothing. Any solutions to this would be much appreciated [link] [comments]

After about 8 years with no recent changes, my Nvidia 780ti is no longer recognized by Windows 10? Posted: 24 Feb 2021 07:08 PM PST Hey all. I've been using a PC I built for about 8 years. Never had any major issues with it, but that all changed about 2 hours ago. Playing a 15 year old game, all of a sudden my monitor went black. I could still hear game sounds. I decided to do a hard reboot. Windows opened back up in 1024x768 and I was confused. Immediately I triaged as a driver issue. So I open up dxdiag and find that my graphics card is still listed as the chipset. I installed the latest Nvidia driver. Resolution restored instantly, everything seems okay. I open the game back up to test and viola, it crashes within a minute. After another hard reboot, nothing is appearing on the screen at all. So I unplugged my monitor from the direct line into the graphics card and plugged it into the mobo. Restart again, and now I'm running off of integrated graphics and the Nvidia card is not being recognized at all. Went into bios and couldn't find anything there that suggested the Nvidia card was present. Not really sure where to start debugging. I will mention that I don't routinely clean my PC, but I do it once in a while. I do notice the fan for the GPU was underneath where I normally do clean... and that shit is DUSTY. I made sure it was still spinning. I also notice that there is power going into the card because the lights are on when the computer is on. What should I be doing first? [link] [comments] |
