Is there a way to have specific apps routed through a VPN? Posted: 26 Feb 2021 02:51 PM PST I have a Note 10+ on Android 11. I'd like to use Reddit for example through a VPN. I want the VPN to activate immediately when I open my Reddit app (Relay) and then return to my normal internet connection after. Is this possible? I see there is a system wide VPN option but that's not pertinent. [link] [comments] |
DNS changer suddenly not working anymore Posted: 26 Feb 2021 09:49 PM PST I'm using a DNS changer app to visit websites my country's government has banned and it worked until yesterday but then it suddenly stopped working. I don't want to use a VPN for certain reasons. I'm using an app on android called trust DNS and public servers that worked until yesterday. I tried clearing DNS cache on android Chrome to no avail. All other websites work properly including other banned ones. This happened after I turned my wifi on and off once. I've tried using different apps, different servers, uninstalling and reinstalling apps... nothing has worked. [link] [comments] |
Samsung A71 Selfie Camera is trash in IG/TikTok/Twitter, looks great in native camera app Posted: 26 Feb 2021 04:10 PM PST The title says it all. When I try to take videos in selfie mode on Tiktok,Twitter, or Instagram it looks like an old choppy low framerate webcam. When I use the native camera it looks fine. It's a bit annoying to have to go back and forth, I was wondering if there is a setting or something I can enable to allow my thirdparty apps to use the camera functionality to it's complete power. Thanks in advanced [link] [comments] |
Moto G7 colors washed out after Android 10 Update. Any fix? Posted: 26 Feb 2021 07:01 PM PST My Moto G7 updated to Android 10. After that update, the colors are noticeably dull. I've toggled between "Natural", "Boosted", and "Saturated" options under colors, but there is very little change. If you know a way to bring this phone back to it's former, colorful glory, please help me out! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 26 Feb 2021 06:38 PM PST Hi everyone. I recently bought a USB power meter to help me understand how my devices charge. But it's revealed a few things that are confusing me even more. I bought the meter because I noticed that my phone seems to stay warm long after it has charged to 100%. The meter shows it is pulling a non-trivial amount of power long after the battery is supposedly full. It is an LG G8X and I am still running Android 10 instead of 11. Experiment 1 - USB charging:I plugged my power meter into my computer, and plugged my phone into the meter. The first reading from The battery already reported being 100% charged at the beginning of the experiment. Over the course of about three hours, I occasionally ran the adb command and watched the After this point, the charge counter turned around and started dropping. During the time I have taken to write this, I have seen it fall and rise between 4026000-4027000, so it seems the battery is now really fully charged. Also, I used Termux on the phone to run an SSH server, and occasionally ran Where I assume a negative My USB power meter has been showing a power draw of between 0.8-1.4W throughout the entire experiment. Here's one such readout, with my apologies for the poor photo quality available below my desk: https://i.imgur.com/WaD0kIj.jpg Experiment 2 - AC charging:I unplugged the meter+phone from my computer and plugged it into a wall-powered outlet. I left it alone for an additional hour. The power meter settled around ~1.3W. Again, this is 1.3Wh going into a full battery! https://i.imgur.com/kuz9zaL.jpg Experiment 3 - Other phone:I am using another phone to take these photos. So I plugged that one into the AC power as well. It started off displaying 100% charge and consuming a steady 1.3W, but after about 45 minutes the wattage did indeed drop down to 0.08W with occasional bursts up to 0.300W. Question: Where is the power going? That was a lot of introduction to my question, but I want to show that I've tried all the avenues I know for exploring this. So with a 4000mAh battery at the usual 3.7 volts, my understanding is that my phone should hold 14.8Wh. If, suppose, this 1W power draw was for the phone's standby power needs, that would mean the phone would die after 14-15 hours off the charger, which is not the case. In airplane mode it usually loses just 3-5% over 12 hours. The only alternative is that all of this energy is going out as waste heat. As you can see it is hovering around 29-30 degrees, whereas normally the phone is 25 degrees at idle: So, is this what 1W of pure waste heat looks like? Why would it do this? This post is probably too unweidly for anyone to answer at this point, but I'd like to know if other people have experienced high power draws and unecessary heat while charging, and what you've done about it. Anyway I put too much time into this to not post it somewhere. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Feb 2021 02:43 PM PST So I love my V60 and today we got the Android 11 update :D Unfortunately there's never been a way to add custom fonts that I know of. Officially you can via the LG SmartWorld app, but that doesn't work on the Verizon variant of the phone. Even manually installing the app doesn't let it work. So...any ideas how to add a custom font from my computer? [link] [comments] |

How to easily have the same apps and accounts on two phones? Posted: 26 Feb 2021 01:31 PM PST I've two phones, a main phone (A) and a back up (B). Both have the same google account, and I'd like both to run the same apps. Is there an easy way to download all the apps that are on A to a newly wiped B phone? The only way I can see how is to manually go into Google play and download them all individually. [link] [comments] |
Is there a way to increase the number notifications visible on a locked screen? Posted: 26 Feb 2021 04:37 PM PST I have an LG V60 and I see only up to 3 icons when my screen is locked. Are there any native Android settings to increase this or any apps that can customize the lock screen? Thank you kindly! :) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Feb 2021 03:25 PM PST Hey everyone, i'm literally shaking. My s21 ultra may have been hacked, I'm not sure. I went onto my phone to send a photo to my bf, but it wouldn't let me click whatsapp or anything, Samsung pay kept coming up on my screen even though i wasn't clicking anywhere near it. I then thought it could be a bug as I just updated to the Feb 21 security patch this morning. But then every time i tried to click whatsapp either samsung pay would come up or another app would come up, again nowhere near where i'm clicking. It was as if someone else was on my phone, clicking things within said app, and then i swiped down my menu to try switch off and it would swipe back up, I'd click the shut down button and it'd be swiped up. Its now off, but i'm really shook, i've never dealt with virus/hacking before. As its still a new phone I don't have too much on there, but my mobile banking for example is on there, I have things in my secure folder that won't be recoverable, and some saved passwords (though its locked on the notes page) its incredibly invasive and scary right now. Any help would be appreciated! I have not switched on my phone yet. [link] [comments] |
Chrome - Outlook Web Access - Add to Home Screen option becomes Install App Posted: 26 Feb 2021 06:57 AM PST Hello. I'd like to add a Chrome Outlook Web Access icon to my home screen, but the usual "add to home screen" menu item in Chrome shows as Install App. I don't want to use the Outlook app, I need to keep it within Chrome. Any options? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
How to stop random app playback when using Bluetooth to resume playback. Posted: 26 Feb 2021 05:48 AM PST I use a few different audio apps on a daily basis. (Podcasts, YT music, Smart Audio Books, Spotify) When I'm listening to, let's say YT music, I'll pause it with my headphones if I need to. Than when I want to resume listening, I'll unpause with my headphones. (I think this is fairly common for most) Once I hit play (with headphones) Android will launch a different app and begin playing that audio. Usually Spotify or my audiobook app. Not the Audio I was just listening to. This is annoying af. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |

Recommendations for someone who wants an upgrade from their Samsung S5 smartphone? Posted: 26 Feb 2021 07:51 AM PST I've been using the S5 for a few years and although I've been mostly happy with it, it's very slow and unresponsive at times which is annoying. Also the battery life is not good. Just wondering could someone recommend me an android phone that would be similar to the S5 but is more modern? I'm not looking for anything fancy. Posted: 26 Feb 2021 10:42 AM PST Hey guys, basically my google play store (not the services) is eating up a lot of battery while being in active use, even though I have not opened the app and used it for that long. I have no idea what's causing this , but its draining heck lot of battery. As of now it has been in active use for over 17 hours 45 mins and drained a lot of battery overnight. I have to disable the app every night just for it to not be able to drain my battery. If anyone has a fix for this please let me know, because this is now becoming very annoying and I have no clue on what is causing this. I am also attaching a screenshot showing the battery usage of play store. Thanks [link] [comments] |
