Can you fit UDIMM memory into a SODIMM slot? Posted: 25 Jun 2020 12:44 AM PDT So I just fucked up. Both my brother and I had single channel memory in our laptops and wanted to upgrade. Instead of trying to o figure out compatibility etc, I just wanted to get a second stick of the exact same model of RAM we had in our respective laptops. It took a little while to find the models we needed, maybe because the laptops are 2 years old and because COVID but I ended up getting confused in all the model numbers and somehow managed to order the wrong model even though I checked and re-checked atleast 5 times. Now I'm stuck with a Samsung M378A1K43CB2-CTD instead of M471A1K43CB1-CTD. I downloaded their parts list and the difference is basically is that I have a 260 pin SODIMM slot while I ordered a 288 pin UDIMM memory. Are they compatible? What are my options? Posted: 25 Jun 2020 12:28 PM PDT I am Looking for a new laptop for programming. I had my eyes on XPS 15 9500, But it's too expensive. can anyone suggest me a similar laptop that cheaper around ~$1300? I'm confused, like would going for low powered AMD notebook with an external monitor would be a good idea? my main concerns are that I want 16gb Ram and 512 Gb storage and a decent looking laptop. I wouldn't mind upgrading them by myself. And also how much of graphics do I need to do some 1080p editing? If you have any suggestions that worked for you you may recommend me. It is not really urgent and I could wait till year's end to get a new laptop [link] [comments]

Posted: 25 Jun 2020 03:14 PM PDT So I just opened up my laptop to clean out the fans. I disconnected the battery as soon as I opened up my laptop and after I finished cleaning the fans, I tried reconnecting the battery using metal tweezers (I know) and it sparked. I got everything back together but now my laptop has to stay connected to the AC adapter or else it will turn off/won't power on. Also the battery % indicator on the bottom right of the screen just says "plugged in", when beforehand it would say "plugged in" followed by the battery's %. Please help me! Edit: I have an ASUS ROG GL504GS if that makes any difference. [link] [comments]

I need help with buying a laptop Posted: 25 Jun 2020 01:54 PM PDT Hey guys so I'm planning to buy a laptop to use for university and for my personal stuff, I'm going to do programming so I need a good laptop for that and also one that can run games well with a good or decent framerate and graphics (mostly first person shooter games), my budget is anything below 850 dollars. It would really mean alot if someone could find a good laptop for me :) [link] [comments]
I need help upgrading my MSI from 16gb to 32gb RAM Posted: 24 Jun 2020 07:28 PM PDT To find out which RAM is compatible with my MSI Laptop model (MSI GT75 Titan 8RG), I went on the crucial website and it gave me these results:
The laptop has 4 total slots in the laptop, 2 of which are occupied with 8gb RAM each (totaling to the current 16gb the laptop has). So I'm guessing this RAM model will be compatible with my Laptop, BUT is it the ideal option? Is there another brand (potentially the brand already inside the Laptop) that would work better? Or is there something else I should probably take into account that I haven't even thought of? Please help :( [link] [comments]

Posted: 25 Jun 2020 01:24 PM PDT What laptop should I get I'll try to keep this short. I'm in high school, and I just want a basic laptop that can run some google programs and help me get work done. I would like to look into programming, as it seems fun. I also might want to get some games like portal, hollow night, or Minecraft. My parents want me to get a MacBook, since my phone is Apple. But my friends say windows is better. What should I get? I hoping for something not too expensive but good quality. [link] [comments]

Posted: 25 Jun 2020 12:42 PM PDT I'm looking for a laptop for myself to use for gaming and preferably through college (for reference I'll be a junior next year). Since I'm planning to buy it myself, I'm capping the budget at around $2000 which makes the Element 2 seem like a pretty great deal. It's got a nice graphics card, good CPU, enough RAM, and supposedly 10 hours of battery. That last part is the one I'm specifically worried about, because reviews point towards ~2-6 hours of battery. Anyone here have thoughts on this? Should I invest in something else? [link] [comments]

Posted: 25 Jun 2020 11:36 AM PDT Im in the market for a powerful laptop. Gaming oriented should serve my needs well. HIDevolution came up on newegg while seeing whats out there and they offer some good deals on souped up machines. Anyone have any feedback dealing with them/their upgrades? I am no computer nerd. I rely on a computer all day for work (CNC machinist) for 3d cad/cam softwares and general internet/small business operations. My current 8 year old ASUS g75vw just isnt able to keep up anymore. Posted: 25 Jun 2020 11:28 AM PDT Where should I buy a laptop from? I tried getting one from Amazon, the laptop box was delivered and bounced around in a box 5 times too big for the laptop box, and the Amazon box had 1 piece of crumbled paper to help with moving around. Also the laptop box itself was opened. Now I'm returning it, and expect it to take no less than a month to get my money back. Once I get it back, I still want and need a laptop. Where should I get it from? Also any recommendations on how to handle this with Amazon? [link] [comments]
