    Longest Windows OS name?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 09:11 PM PST

Hello, so I recently tested one piece of software and it came out that longer OS names such as "Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit" weren't fitting in the software where they should be. So I started a bit of a research and I found "Microsoft Windows 10 Home Single Language 32-bit" to be the longest, it was resolved by the creator of the software so the issue was closed. However, today I realized that there are longer Server names. As of now I found "Microsoft Windows Server 2016 Datacenter Evaluation 64-bit". I have few suspects for longer names and and I am currently downloading ISO files to install and test. Does anyone know any longer names of rare Windows Editions/Versions? All help appreciated :D

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 04:50 PM PST

So I just updated my computer after not being on it for a few days and it now refuses to acknowledge that I have a monitor plugged in via HDMI cable. I've tried updating my drivers restarting and unplugging and plugging it back in. It's driving me nuts.

Problems ever since an update a few days ago.

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 08:13 PM PST

Ever since the windows update before the most recent one(KB4023057), I've had problems:

-Video sound on any software jumps ahead of the video after only a few minutes of watching

-Lag after only 24 hrs of the PC being on

-Also, can't update from 1909 and it displays a message saying that once the May 2020 update will appear in the update settings once it's ready. It's never ready, and I can never update to 2004. (Atleast through this method)

Even after another update yesterday (KB4577586) It still proceeds with the lag after a day's use, and even as I'm typing out this post, performance is going down the drain. It was perfectly fine before the update a few days ago. It's not like I have bad specs either.

    Windows won't update, please help.

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 07:41 PM PST

I thought I'd ask the people of reddit for help. So every time I try to update windows on my computer (it's on an old version of windows 10) it will download the update and then get to 50% on the "updating your computer" screen. Then it will go black, restart and boots back into windows then tells me to update it which then starts the whole process again. I know I might be asking for to much but I thought I ask people who might know this more than me, Thanks in advance. Also sorry for spelling/grammar, was typed on phone.

    Optimize windows 10 for CRT

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 07:09 PM PST

Hi, I have windows 10 and am using a crt monitor. I am wondering if there is any windows softwares that can help optimize the display settings for a crt. For example scanline adaption (I don't know the exact name, but I remember it from windows 2000) because currently, the scanlines are really ruining the look of the display.

I wasn't able to find any settings for this in either windows or Nvidia settings.

If anyone can help it would be great. Thanks:)

Windows cannot access the specific device, path or file

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 01:09 PM PST

Ok so for some reason every new thing I download can't be opened, it gives me a message saying "Windows cannot access the specific device, path or file" I tried to go into my software properties and went to security, clicked edit so I can grant permission but every time I do that or freezes and I can't do anything. This isn't only happening for new applications or files. It's happening to my task manger. I can't even do a file scan because every time i load something with administrator rights it freezes me. I can't factory reset it because guess what it freezes me. I did multiple virus scans and nothing showed up. Idk why this is happening and i can't find a solution.

    windows won't start after update

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 01:08 PM PST

this morning I turned on my desktop and it was updating, but when it reached 100 it froze. I restarted the computer but I can't get past a blue screen where I can "choose an option" among 5 that are there to help me with this problem. I've tried all of them and none of them have worked, I'm usually just sent back to the blue screen or it tells me my PC didn't start correctly. does anyone know how I can get past this and get the computer working again? my dad comes home tomorrow and he relies on this computer heavily for everything, he will literally kill me if I left it like this!! thanks in advance

How do I eliminate a non assigned partition of 9gb?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 04:09 PM PST

Good afternoon. For some reason, a partition was created in my laptop out of nowhere. How do I eliminate that? It was not assigned at all. Optane requested me an update and I had to restart my laptop. And when I restarted it, that non assigned partition of 9mb was made out of nowhere. If anyone knows how to solve, please answer. It will be very helpful.

Need help with sound driver and stuff

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 04:07 PM PST

Hello, I had this problem when everytime I unplugged my headphones and plugged them back in my sound would stop working, and instead audio would come out from my laptop. I tried reinstalling a audio driver and that just made things so much worse. Usually if I restart my laptop with my headphones plugged in then it would work, but now I somehow made it worse. The sound is extremely loud now, and it sounds very spacious and makes my head hurt. Like the audio is more in the right ear and left ear. Also when I use discord to call with my friends it doesn't work as I can't hear them anymore and my microphone just stopped working as well. Only my laptop mic now works and I don't want that. If anyone could find a solution to this thank you so much, and sorry if I didn't make sense in any parts or so. I'll be answering any questions that could help me if thats possible.

How do I remove the OneDrive Icon overlay

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 02:23 PM PST

Long story short - I was setting up OneDrive on a new Win10 image & windows decided to add the blue arrow overlay to everything on the drive even though I only added a single sub folder to OneDrive:

    http://imgur.com/gallery/wjbF1Xp

Can I remove the blue arrows?

I have done some searching & found a registry edit but all that seems to do is hide the overlay on my current machine - when I move the disk to another machine the arrows come back.

    This is super annoying!!!!

I'm hoping there are some Windows Gurus here that know of a fix.

On my previous laptop I've had exactly the same issue, reinstalling Windows didn't help, LCD was replaced so it wasn't the thing, any idea what could it be caused by?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 10:35 AM PST

Is there any way to default to Paste without formatting for CTRL+V? It's incredible annoying to copy text from the internet to a Word document (or anywhere) and pasting its font/size by accident
