| attempting to activate windows 8.1 Posted: 27 Feb 2021 10:57 AM PST so i recently upgraded most of the hardware in my PC, and reinstalled the OS. i dont have a windows 10 activation code so i decided to install windows 8.1 since A: i am used to that OS and B: i have an activation code for windows 8.1 pro. when i try to activate windows with this code, it tells me "this key cannot be used to activate this edition of windows, please try a different key". is there anything i can do about this except reinstall again and hope it works this time? and alternatively, is there any method i can use to stop those godawefull full-screen "activate windows" popups from randomly happening. some additional info: using slmgr /ipk gives an error saying im running windows non-core edition, using slui.exe to display the error text gives me error code 0xc004F069: software licencing service reported that the product SKU is not found [link] [comments]  |
