Anyone else notice their phone coming across glitches and bugs more frequently than before?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 07:19 AM PST

I'm using a Oneplus 7 and its been a little over a year (bought it around launch).

It had been running fantastic with the occasional hiccups and glitches, but now lately the screen freezes, and general app glitches (camera not opening on Instagram and WhatsApp on first attempt) etc., are happening more often.
The solution is probably to reinstall Oxygen OS and reboot the phone, but just wanted to know if its happening to anyone else?

people who use the oneplus phones from long time. what is your current take on it?

    Posted: 27 Jan 2021 11:40 PM PST

I live in UAE, I have a oneplus 5t from past years (rooted with gcam) working alright.

but due to recent one plus tactics like ads on the notifications and still bad cameras and broken support gcam. and carl leaving the company shows something fishy happening behind the scene

Would you still recommand oneplus to people?

even tho in my country you cant buy oneplus in stores only way is via amazon , poeple still know about it? two of friends ( one samsung fanboy ) and other (iphone fanboy) both were discussing on getting a oneplus?

    is the hype still on?

Looking at the OnePlus 8T. Is it worth it?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 01:00 PM PST

I am currently using the Galaxy S9 and I want to upgrade because this phone has served me good and I can only charge it via Wireless charging currently because my USB-C port recently died. I know that you can't really compare the two because the S9 came out a couple years ago. People who have this phone, what is your personal take on it? Thanks in advance!

I upgraded to an S21U (Snapdragon) from the OP6 and the grass is not necessarily greener

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 01:08 PM PST

The deal from T-Mobile was too good to resist so I thought I'd buy in and if I didn't like the phone I can at least get my money back on the secondary market and possibly then some.

Well so the screen is very nice it's not like it's wowing me. 1440p vs 1080p isn't making a huge difference too my eyes. Even 120hz, while noticeable and a definite upgrade is now something I know I can live without since I don't really game on my phone. That being said I game on a 60hz normally anyway.

The size of the phone isn't as big an issue as I thought except for the fact that it's thicker and heavier. And while the battery is certainly massive and I appreciate it I'm at 66% today when I'd probably be at 30% I don't think it's worth that additional heft, especially if the comparison is a OP8T where you can charge for 15 min and be fine. Wireless charging is nice to have but I gave it up almost 6 years ago when I left my Lumia 925.

Then we get down to really why I don't think it's better and that is the software. OxygenOS 10 is just really good. I love the launcher and having to switch to Nova isn't as good (I love 4 icons in a row on a folder) and the recents app screen not having icons at the bottom is just a big downgrade. The bloat on Samsung phones is real and while OP does have their own apps too I found them to be as good or better than stock which is not true with Samsung. The look and feel is just not my thing and I can't change it enough to be what I want.

I'm not going to talk about the cameras because I haven't used them that much and it's generally not what I'm using my phone for. The zooms are cool that's all I'll say.

At the end of the day the experience of using the S21U is only incremental above my old OP6. It's faster and the battery last longer but that's really the biggest differences I feel. I don't know if I'll get another OP phone with the changes that are happening but I think I can safely say I know I don't need the most specced out phone because the way I use and interact my phone isn't going to really change. If I could go back I probably would have done the deal that would have been (for me) $300 for an 8T vs $700 for a S21U.

Ask any questions you may have.

Buying new phone but PWM Headache.

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 07:16 PM PST

I'm going to be buying a new phone pretty soon but I am very PWM sensitive, no good IPS phone is really left anymore and my current samsung can't be used without headaches (apart from dark mode) I'm using a pwm free app to make it more usable but this phone is going sometime soon.

Can you tell if your experience with PWM/DC dimming has been good or has helped, I feel it's still not as good as IPS phones.

And when you take screenshots while on DC dimming mode is it any different from When not?

    Mouse & Keyboard on OnePlus7t

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 08:43 PM PST

    Hello Everyone!

I would like to hook up a mouse and keyboard to my OnePlus7t. I broke the LCD and digitizer, so I am unable to click on anything on the screen. I hooked up the phone to a USB-C to HDMI dongle and I am able to get video on an external display. I just need mouse and keyboard support so I can use it. I tried getting a dongle that has HDMI and USB ports but it projects video on the external display but no USB support. I have tired to enable OTG support. Any other advice? I would love to get this going. I tired with two different wireless keyboard/mouse combos. Also a wired mouse and keyboard. Neither worked.

    All help is appreciated.

    Thank you in advance

Fingerprint reader issue - OnePlus Nord N10

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 04:10 PM PST

Hey guys I just wanted to post and see if anyone has been running into their fingerprint scanner occasionally not working until turning on the screen (Nord N10).

At times it feels as if the fingerprint scanner completely shuts off and doesn't do anything no matter how many times I press my finger against it (the phone doesn't even vibrate). However, once I tap the power button for the display to turn on, the fingerprint scanner works just fine. Anyone have any ideas on why this is happening?

I tried to search online for this issue, but did not find much...

    Smoking Charge Port?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 07:38 PM PST

So this happened about 30min ago. I have a OnePlus 5 (yes it's a few years old). I have noticed it getting a little buggy lately but not too bad until just now. I plugged in my phone to its usual OnePlus charger (the fast one) and suddenly smoke started coming out of the charge port! I unplugged it immediately and the charge port smelt bad as if it was burning.

I tried plugging the phone in again to a different outlet and it wouldn't charge. I tried 2 different chargers and they wouldn't charge it. About 15 minutes later I got it to start charging on the original OnePlus charger. I also used a contact cleaner to clean the port and the charger itself.

    1. Has anyone had this happen?
    2. Am I going to burn in my bed if I charge it overnight?
    3. Is the 7T any good? Or should I fork out the extra money for the 8?

    Thanks!

My 7t pro Mclaren gets HOT

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 01:30 PM PST

It's beginning to concern me a bit. It really only started a few weeks ago. I've tried just about everything other than factory restoring it.

I like to game a bit on my phone. Naturally, this can heat phones up. What seems off is the heat can build up withen 20 minutes( one call of duty match. After that my temperature is around 104-108f

If I try to get another game out of it, the heat can go all the way to 113. I've never had the phone shut of due to heat but thermal throttling can kick in and my frames per second will nosedive

This phone should be able to handle medium at 60 fps without issue. Although gaming causes the quickest heat up, light youtube and reddit browsing can push it to 105

Besides the rear camera that never seems to be able to focus, this is my only issue with the phone. But I think it's serious because right now it's winter but when the weather heats up I'm worried.

    Which Way Nord Megathread

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 10:50 AM PST

Since the other Which Way Nord thread is being buried by other posts, I think this post is due.

The 1st puzzle: there are hints on the OnePlus Nord Instagram Account currently. Seems self explanatory though.

The 2nd puzzle: There's a filter on their Instagram page that shows you the order in which the symbols must be clicked.

The 3rd puzzle: due in 4 days!

Issue in 7T after updating to OOS 10.3.7HD65AA

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 07:04 AM PST

Is anyone else facing an issue of bug reports. Sometimes when I take a screenshot of anything, I am getting a notification of an bug report after the update. When I try to open it I am getting the share card to share the bug using any of my social apps. Is there any solution or is something wrong with my mobile?

Will updating from 11.0.5.6 to 11.0.6.8 on 8T break GCam?

    8t Instagram issues?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 09:08 AM PST

Does anyone else have their instagram stories cut off after recording one 15 second story on 8t? It's so annoying having to record each 15 second story separately. Ive tried everything to try and fix it but to no avail.

Also when I take a picture in stories n try to save it, it doesn't save to the gallery. I didn't start having these issues until I upgraded to the 8t a few months ago.

Is this a Oneplus issue or jus an Android issue?

Is the Oneplus 7T not fully compatible with Mint Mobile?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 12:47 PM PST

I ask this because I am on my 2nd sim card now. The Mint CS rep recommended I try a different sim. My symptoms are, that I get notifications upon waking the phone up, when I go to make a call I get "mobile network is unavailable", and during this phase, I won't receive sms or calls. Restarting the phone 100% corrects this, but I'm having this happen every day. There is also no visual indication when I am not receiving network connection. So every hour or so I make a call just to check if the phone is connected to the world.

    1080p performance

So I got a 7 Pro and I usually use adaptive resolution, but as I am dropping fps sometimes in some games, I am wondering if the lower resolution would make the frames more consistent

    One plus 8t or 8 or 8pro

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 12:10 PM PST

I am in the market for a new phone, one plus is looking like my best bet. Which model would you guys recommend.

I don't mind paying more if it is worth the extra cash, in the UK the 8 is going from £400 new atm. Is it worth another £150 for a flat screen, 120Hz and an IP rating ect.

Do you guys think the one plus 8 pro is good enough to warrant the extra £150 to £700 from the 8t.

Let me know which you think I should buy?

    Experience with Oxygenos 11

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 04:29 AM PST

Help, seemingly awesome things on my OP8P that simply don't seem to work!

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 11:49 AM PST

Draw gestures: This would be so cool, but WTF i have tried 1000x different ways of doing this seemingly AWESOME feature but i cant get it to work. What is the trick for this? Is it that some (most) apps aren't supported and it just doesn't tell you this?

Smart Lock Trusted location. This does NOTHING. My phone locks anyway even if i am in a trusted place.

Ambient display: 'Horizon Light": The side color graphic that might actually make the useless and frustrating curved screen have some aesthetic merit. I have yet to see this ever.

Ambient display: "Contextual Info" especially "show music" does nothing. (Regardless of whether this is to mean music playing ON the phone, or stock Android feature that IDs the music playing in the background - which is a cool feature and one we cant seem to use on One PLus)

Draw gestures: This would be so cool, but WTF i have tried 1000x different ways of doing this seemingly AWESOME feature but i cant get it to work. What is the trick for this? Is it that some (most) apps aren't supported and it just doesnt tell you this?

Finally, Face unlock. Seems SO random. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

Oneplus One (LineageOS v17.1) Need an alternate carrier for lack of VoLTE

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 05:44 AM PST

So as the topic says, are there any decent carriers similar to Ting or Mint, that won't require VoLTE starting tomorrow in the US?

I'm running a Oneplus One, with LineageOS v17.1, with a brand new battery as well. But it seems like no one is willing to send me a sim card because the OPO just isn't on their little book of supported phones. I love this phone, and I really don't want to downgrade for an affordable phone only to gain VoLTE, and I certainly don't want to spend a hefty chunk of change for a new flagship just to have one additional feature

Are there any other options out there for a carrier? I've been using Ting for years now

Question about OnTheGo (OTG) and AKG Lyra USB microphone.

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 05:08 AM PST

So I got a OnePlus Nord and I just bought the OTG cable so I could plug my AKG Lyra USB mic straight into my phone.

My problem is that my phone doesn't use the USB mic, but uses the phone's built-in mic instead. I enable the OTG from my phone settings and the AKG Lyra lights up so it clearly gets power, but for some reason my phone just doesn't want to automatically use the USB mic. I tried with the camera app and the recorder app and both had the same problem.

I couldn't find anywhere to change the recording device in the settings or in the camera setting. Any help? Thanks.

Used to love my OP looking for similar to what they used to be.

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 10:47 AM PST

I'm currently on an OP6 and the phone is still pretty great. However I'm getting ready to move on from OP and am considering the alternatives. I really like the idea of no hole punch on the screen and am looking at that as a starting point for the phones I'll consider. Other factors (not necessarily in this order) such as a regular updates, headphone jack, a good screen (at least 90hz), large battery and large or expandable storage are most important to me.

So far I was looking at the Asus Zenfone and some Moto's. Are there others that should be on my radar?
