Posted: 10 Jan 2021 07:23 AM PST I purchased a domain name "www.domainname.com" and I'm using wildcard forwarding (*@domainname.com) to forward to my real email address. It works flawlessly and I'm able to essentially create site specific emails. The issue is one of those domain names has been compromised and I'm receiving a lot of spam to it. Any recommendations on domain registrars that will allow me to block specific domains? I'm currently using Google Domains and they do not support that feature "currently". Essentially I want to continue having the ability to create as many email addresses as I want (reddit@domainname.com, att@domainnname.com, etc.). But have the ability to block a specific one. Posted: 10 Jan 2021 01:21 PM PST So, lately I've been using a 4:3 monitor, but I wanted a 16:9 so I asked my dad if we could trade for his secondary monitor, he said yes and gave me his old Emachines monitor from back in the Vista days, so its pretty old, but when I plugged it into my computer it had this ripple affect (this was happening with my dad on his computer as well, I'm still currently using the monitor as we speak, in the info for the monitor it says H: 48KHz V:60Hz, Input analog, and if important my cpu is an AMD A8-5500B (using integrated Radeon graphics, no standalone gpu) with 360Gb of storage. | Posted: 10 Jan 2021 10:58 AM PST Okay so I have installed polybar in awesome and one of the issues I am having is that polybar shows a window border, which I find a bit annoying. It also shows up in revelation, though that should be fixable. I tried to make it unfocusable by adding a rule to my rc.lua Any help would be much appreciated! [link] [comments]  | ||

| Broken hinge/frame on Samsung laptop Posted: 10 Jan 2021 06:28 AM PST Hello, Relatively recently I noticed how the laptop lid started to separate from the frame. It began with a bit of a split and, before I knew it, the frame had detached. The hinge itself looks okay - except for the fact that, probably because of the frame and also because it lacks the protective cap, it has lowered with a few milimeters. Since English is my second language and I am devoid of any computer/tech-language, I will attach a picture, as it speaks 1000 words. Before you ask, I did take the laptop to a service center. The guy tried to scam me, I gathered. His words were „This model is pretty rare on the market, as far as components go, and its condition is serious. If we do manage to find a replacement frame, it would cost you quite a lot." He estimated a sum around 100$. I am sure there must be a DIY method to fix this. It really is not that bad, since it pertains to the frame and hinge. But it could aggravate in time. Here is the photo and thank you in advance! [link] [comments]  | ||
| Laptop battery drains from 100 to 0% in 30m Posted: 09 Jan 2021 08:24 PM PST Laptop - Toshiba portege R835 (i5, 4gb ram, 2013) My laptop fan has always been loud but normally it wouldn't be this loud and always on 24/7 until like a month ago. Now it just roars as soon as I turn it on. I did some research and concluded dust was the problem (last time I had it cleaned was over 1.5yrs ago). Since covid and all I tried to do it myself, watched some tutorials. Took out the battery (easy unlock and slide out kind), successfully unscrewed the back screws but couldn't pry the back plate out and in the end just gave up, then screwed it back. Somehow the fans are a bit quieter (guess cause laptop was upside down?) but now my battery life is shot. It used to last an easy 2hrs on light web browsing but now it can barely last 30m on lowest brightness, low power mode, and nothing running in the background on task manager. I even reduced max CPU performance to 75 in advanced power settings. I see no signs of external damage. The time estimate it shows how long your battery will last when you click on the battery icon is also weirdly accurate now. It was never correct before. As of now it shows I have 38m left on 80%. How can I fix this? Any BIOS tweaks? Do I need to get a new battery? I am planning to get the laptop cleaned at a repair shop. Will that fix it? [link] [comments]  | ||

| Oculus Quest 2 not loading VRchat with new VRchat update Posted: 09 Jan 2021 06:59 PM PST VRchat will take a long time to load and then will ask me to log in. I log in and then it will have the loading symbol for a long time and then it just goes blank and has the blank turquoise background colour and doesn't load after that. Could anyone help me? I have already tried resetting my headset and deleting and reinstalling VRchat. [link] [comments]  | ||
| Posted: 09 Jan 2021 04:41 PM PST I was on my computer when I realized this combination of keys didn't work. Since I play an MMO I noticed this mid-game. when I finished I started looking for a solution but I found nothing. I went to a page with a digital keyboard that illuminates the keys as you press them, and they work on their own, but if I press ctrl, any of the ctrl, it doesn't detect if I press the F1 and F3 keys. Also, for some reason, on the razer program for my mouse, I can put a macro with this combination without a problem, but when I use it the same problem appears, it only works as if I was pressing the ctrl key, not the Fs. I've searched on the internet for an explanation for this problem and found nothing. I don't know why this happened, but I would be really grateful if you could help me with this.
