Posted: 28 Dec 2020 02:42 PM PST Just thought of posting a quick goodbye note here - I moved from my OnePlus 7 pro to a Note 20 Ultra (great Black Friday deal I couldn't pass up). 2 of the 4 phones I used over the last ~7 years were OnePlus and I hope they continue to stick to their original agenda and not go astray ! OPO**:** Started with OnePlus back when they released the one - I remember hunting for the invite in many forums to buy the original OPO. I got the invite and used the phone for about 1.5 yrs - it was a great experience with stock like Android with additional customization options and the hardware itself was pretty good. I still have that phone in my draw somewhere and it's in good shape Nexus 6p: Then moved to the Nexus 6p since I've been a fan of stock Google phones and wanted to buy one for a while. Ended up warranty replacing that one after close to a year due to speaker issues. The warranty replacement unit's screen unfortunately conked out a few months later due to a short 2 foot drop on a hardwood floor - no visible cracks on the screen, but it never turned on after that. S8+: Enter my first Samsung phone and it was great - no issues at all for the time it lasted - 2.5 years until it got really slow and I started looking for something to replace it with (didn't go the Pixel route since Google for some reason kept deciding to make dated looking phones and that was a deal breaker for me.) OP 7 pro: Got a good deal on the 7 pro - 549 and it was unbelievable with the full screen and no bloatware apps (coming from the Samsung). Once again I had to skip the Pixel - because Pixel 4 - badly overpriced and mediocre reviews, again with the dated 5 year old phone look. With all the amazing things about the 7 pro - that beautiful screen - and lots of customization, I was very happy. The rave reviews that the phone got seemed entirely justified. Forward a couple of days and I started missing the always on display - the whole saga of bringing the feature finally seemed to be happening, but hasn't yet after a year. The next issue was my 3 year old S8 was taking much better photos than the 7pro. Enter GCAM - a lot of fiddling with multiple versions finally yielded some decent results. All the while I was wondering how safe are all these user hacked APKs and how much of my privacy is at risk (I know these are honest developers trying to help the community and I must be worried about how much data big companies like Google and Amazon collect, etc but there is always a nagging doubt in the back of the head - what if something fell through the cracks).. But I was very happy with the phone otherwise and would've kept it a lot longer. With OnePlus going the "flagship" route, churning out 6-7 phones per year, some shady Facebook preinstalls and starting to slip up on their impeccable record for fast Android updates, I felt justified moving on to a real flagship when I stumbled across the Note 20U deal. Now to decide if I sell off the 7 pro or hand down to someone in the family or let it sit in the draw as a backup (why though :S ?). Samsung seems to have gotten better since my S8 days - ability to uninstall most (not all) bloatware apps / at least hide them and pretend they don't exist. If the S8 was anything to go by, I see the Note lasting a good 3 - 3.5 years easily. At that point, I really hope Google puts out a real flagship with no compromises and I finally get to buy a Pixel phone. If they don't - which they most likely will not - I hope OnePlus goes back to its roots by then and creates a simple flagship killer like in the past with just 2 additions (1) Always on Display and (2) A decent camera without having to rely on GCAM hacks. A real bonus would be if they went back to the retractable selfie camera like the 7 pro - privacy + full screen - who doesn't want that (I know a lot of people here don't - moving parts, water resistance etc., but I'm willing to live with those). My first real post here I think - excuse the long rambling nature of it .. Edit: I appreciate the upvotes and comments, thank you! I failed to mention one big benefit of owning a OnePlus phone - the community. Any questions / issues are fairly easy to troubleshoot given the number of active people here. Thanks to this forum, I've been able to resolve battery issues, a weird LTE connectivity issue with Google Fi and the 7 pro to name a couple. I haven't been able to find that with Samsung yet (maybe I haven't looked in the right place - but I've only seen 4 fragmented Note20 subs with a couple thousand members at most !) Display changes colour at weird times (OnePlus 6, Oxygen 10.3.7) Posted: 28 Dec 2020 03:48 AM PST I've had the OnePlus 6 for a good few years now, but seemingly as of the last Oxygen update, sometimes when I'm looking at an app with a mostly white background (such as chrome or Facebook), the colour of the display switches to a strange pinkish tint which is really uncomfortable to look at imo. If I go into display settings, switch "vivid" off and back on (my usual setting), it fixes this issue for a moment, but then as soon as I go back to the white page it tints pink again immediately. I have adaptive brightness/display all turned off, I've been searching through the display settings and really have no idea what's doing this. All of my display settings, ie brightness, colour, warmth, are set to manual. Does anyone have any idea what's causing this weird auto-adjust or how I can switch it off? Sorry if this is a repost, I tried searching for this issue and found similar posts for other models but couldn't find any for this particular problem on the 6. [link] [comments]

How mush SOT are you getting with your OnePlus 8 Pro Posted: 28 Dec 2020 02:59 PM PST Hello, I can barely get more than 4h with my 8 Pro. I have the Beta 5 version. Is it because of that or does the phone have a bad battery. Okay I have to say that I'm using the AO Display and 120hz/1440p. [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Dec 2020 05:39 PM PST So I just got my one plus 6T and I've charged it up to 35% just to play around with it for a bit and download tons of apps. I've only been playing with it for maybe about an hour and its already at 24% and all ive been doing the last half hour is having it off and using spotify. When I was using it earlier the brightness is only at 50% where its bright but not too bright taking up too much battery. I have no apps open in the background so why have I gone through almost 10% battery in under an hour? Will I get better results if its fully charged? [link] [comments]
[OnePlus 8 pro] Made a simple background, enjoy Posted: 28 Dec 2020 11:48 AM PST I started playing around with GIMP a couple days ago and came up with this background. Feel free to use it! [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Dec 2020 03:57 AM PST Got a new 8T to replace my 5T and am loving it so far - just trying to get it all set up as I wanted and have a couple of questions... It seems there is no notification LED which is taking a bit of getting used to - how do people work around this? Also, on my 5T I would see notifications pop up in white text when the screen was "off" so I could see what the incoming notification was without touching my phone (this only happened as the notification arrived - not as an ongoing thing) - is there any way to do that? I am getting confused between ambient display and all the other options Also - what are some cool things I should try out? thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Dec 2020 06:21 AM PST Is there any info or an estimate date for the Oxygen OS 11 update on the Nord? Read that the OP7 line is set to be updated early 2021, but I haven't caught anything about the Nord [link] [comments]
Oneplus 8T - Oneplus Launcher kept crashing Posted: 28 Dec 2020 10:34 AM PST Hello, Been having a buggy experience on oneplus 8T. The apps kept lagging then it will close automatically the a prompt will appear saying oneplus launcher isn't responding. Anyone knows how do I resolve this? Already restarted my phone, but I still encounter it from time to time. I dont want to factory reset my phone. Thanks! [link] [comments]
is it worth getting T-Mobile version of 7T? Posted: 28 Dec 2020 10:30 AM PST I'm on T-Mobile, and now the T-Mobile 7T is $300 and the unlock is $350. I've read at places though that T-Mobile version of OnePlus phones gets slower and more sporadic updates then factory unlock ones. I'm wondering is it worth the $50 saving? [link] [comments]
So... Is there a one handed mode Posted: 28 Dec 2020 08:07 AM PST Just got my 8t last week and I've been loving it, but my tiny ass hands have to flex so hard to reach the other side :( My last phone was an s9 and that had an integrated one handed mode that worked great for me. You guys got any third party / settings suggests? Thanks xoxo [link] [comments]

My OnePlus 6 installed a bunch of OnePlus apps without any notice Posted: 28 Dec 2020 05:53 AM PST If I didn't check in settings, I wouldn't even know. No information from Google Play. Today I got a Red Cable Club notification and I can't uninstall, or turn off notifications for this app. This is insane, phone is solid but goddamn OxygenOS is straight up horrible. OnePlus 7(IN) facing lag issues while switching apps, navigation gestures and animations are slow AF Posted: 27 Dec 2020 08:30 PM PST This is super shit and it has been There since a long time. Cleared cache, cleared app data and everything mentioned on the internet. Does anyone have a fix for this? Man, OnePlus is becoming more shittier by the day. The reason I got a OnePlus is because of the smooth experience and lagfree Ui. Never thought I'd have to go through this I'm on 10.3.7 and the final option is to format the phone but I don't want to do that because I have 150+ gb of data. There was a time when My Phone had 200+ GB filled but never faced this issue :/ Hoping that this gets fixed asap [link] [comments]

OP8 Pro USB Charging works but headphones/file transfers/android auto do not Posted: 27 Dec 2020 08:32 PM PST CrossPosting from OP Support, hoping maybe someone here has experienced/ has an answer Hey all, I am having issues with my 8 pro. The USB port will do regular/warp charging but will not do headphones/file transfer/AA. I have looked inside the port with a microscope, it is clean in there. Not a speck of dust much less something blocking connection. I cant be without a phone for weeks, it appears that OP support is 1. backed up and 2. not always very helpful. I made a mistake, I bought a phone outside of the t-mobile ecosystem and I am now stuck with no way to get things addressed. Didn't want the 8t. Depending on how this experience goes will decide if I get OP again. Currently have 3 of them (OP7Pro, OP8t, OP8Pro) and this one, being the only one I purchased directly, is of course the phone with issues. May have to accept that it will never work right again, hoping I'm wrong. Looking to see if anyone else has had this and found a solution. Tried all the basics. Restarted, cleared cache, inspected port, cleaned port with canned air, turned on developer options and enabled file transfer. Thanks [link] [comments] |
