    Consequences of disabling MiUI optimizations?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2020 03:49 AM PDT

I disabled the optimizations to install a third party app that required it to begin the installation process... I wonder, what's the worst that could happen? I remember reading somewhere in a Xiaomi forum that it wasn't recommend but the person didn't say why.

One week with the Redmi Note 9s

    Posted: 02 Oct 2020 11:59 AM PDT

So I've had the Note 9s for a week now and I LOVE this phone !!! Especially the battery life is just very impressive.

Starting with the display, it's an LCD and for me (coming from a Mi 9T Pro) it's kind of meh, it is bright, the colors are accurate but not as good as an AMOLED display. It would've been perfect if they included an AMOLED display with 60Hz because most of the competition is offering either LCD with high refresh rates or OLED with regular refresh rates. But it's not bad tho, it gets the job done, it's sharp, it's bright enough and the punch hole isn't too intrusive. Though there is some (unnoticeable unless you're looking closely) ghosting around the selfie cam but that's expected on an LCD

Battery: it has an impressive 5020Mah battery that lasts me up to 2 days with medium use, with intensive usage you can get a day of battery life and around 9 HOURS of screen on time which is just crazy !!! And even with that I got 17% of battery left, The battery is so good i couldn't kill it completely in one single day. I'll try to provide some screenshots of my battery usage for that day.

For charging, it took 1 hour and 40 minutes to charge from 10% to 100%.

Camera: The camera is good but you need to install Gcam for better results (I use Urynx V2.1 because it works with all lenses and it's the most stable one) the wide angle camera could've been better but it's not that bad, macro camera is kind of soft but with Gcam it's a big improved. PS: I don't know why but images in low light are kind of soft on Gcam, i tried lowering the Denoise settings (you can find those in the LIB PATCHER) and it helped with keeping details in the photos in lowlight. I set them at 0.375 or sometimes at 0.5

The build of the phone feels sturdy and definitely not cheap, even tho the frame is plastic but it's super high end plastic that I thought it was metal at first. The phone is kind of heavy and that's a plus for me, i don't know it a lot of people like heavy phones too.

Haptic feedback is flagship level, it's waaay better than the Mi Note 10 lite, Mi 9T... I think it's one the same level as the iPhone 8 and LG V40 and Pixel 3/3a. And the way they imbedded the haptic feedback into the software (like vibrating when activating/deactivating Wi-Fi/Bluetooth... Or when you press the back button even with gestures, it's just really high end and i feel like more people should talk about this)

Xiaomi Air Purifier Wrong odor since the first time

    Posted: 02 Oct 2020 02:19 PM PDT

I wonder if that normal. I used it in a bad environment (very dusty but an apartment i was living, also strong bad air conditioning odor due to filters not cleaned) and it had his odor. It was still better that not using it, but now that i consider to use it in a safe environment just for cigaret smoke odors, i wonder if i can do something for that smell.

On the user manual they say it's because the filter is absorbing gaz and it has to dry out at the sun. But i have no terrace or outdoor, and in addition i think it was kind of smelling since the beginning (not sure).

I worry about my new flat being filled with the filter odor and using it being worst than not using it.

difference between mi watch color and mi watch global?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2020 09:49 PM PDT

so the mi watch color has been out for 1 year and xiaomi is releasing a new mi watch global. is the global version the same hardware as the color but with a global OS? it's so fucked that they named it the same thing. there's also another watch called xiaomi mi watch that looks like the apple watch too. i added the word global in this to make it clear but the new international version is just called xiaomi mi watch. to clarify

mi watch color is round face. mi watch is rectangular face. mi watch coming out soon and is "global version" is round face and looks just like the mi watch color.

Is it possible to avoid MIUI 11 looking up updates? (stock rom)

    Posted: 02 Oct 2020 02:00 PM PDT

This is a Mi9T. Downgraded from MIUI 12 to MIUI 11 by flashing through fastboot.

I want to keep this phone on MIUI11 since 12 is still bugy and more power hungry, but the phone keeps looking up and notifying me to upgrade. I deactivated every option in the update menu, but this things doesnt give up.

I wont use this phone personally, and the person who will use it want it stock (bootloader locked, not rooted nor custom roms), so he can still lock it if it get lost stolen.

Is there any way to stop MIUI from bugging me? It doesnt even let me disable the notifications for it.

Buy RN9Pro or wait for RN10

    Posted: 02 Oct 2020 05:59 PM PDT

I kinda need a phone now since my old phone's getting a little laggy. I was pretty determined to buy the RN9Pro (i don't like the Poco x3 since a colleague of mine bought one and its battery drains fast even at 60 hz rr) but then a news said that RN10 is about to come. Should I buy or wait for it? and when do you think will it come?

Mi 10 where to buy? Are there any production problems?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2020 01:59 PM PDT

So, I'm looking for a mi 10 to buy online. I live in Brazil and have bought my mi 9 on aliexpress, however, I'm finding it very difficult to find the mi 10, and when I do find it it's way more expensive then it should be. Are we experiencing some sort of shortage of phones?
