HP Omen 15 vs Lenovo Legion 5? Suggestions/Advice are very appreciated, thank you. Posted: 02 Oct 2020 10:42 PM PDT Personal laptop for gaming, browsing, and watching streams/movies. I have no desktop at home and I also have a separate work laptop, so this is purely just for personal use. - Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
50 000 - 85 000 Philippine Peso - Are you open to refurbs/used?
No - How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
Performance > Build Quality > Battery Life > Form Factor - How important is weight and thinness to you?
Not much, I dont mind it being a bit heavy if it means performance and build quality is up to par - Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
15.6'' - Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
Gaming. - If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
I play a wide variety of games, from demanding ones like Conan Exiles to MOBAs like League of Legends to indie games that pretty much have pixel graphics. - Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
I'm concerned about performance, build quality, and cooling (although this may already be included in build quality). - Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
Honestly, I'm just here to get suggestions whether I should buy an HP Omen 15 or Lenovo Legion 5 (unless someone has a better laptop in mind considering my country Philippines). They both have almost-similar specs and an HP Omen 15 I found costs 85,000 PHP (~$1750) while the Lenovo Legion 5 costs 70,000 PHP (~$1440) so I was wondering which of the two is really better and what makes the price difference? Is the cooling system better than the other? Is it the build quality? etc... I want to know these details so I can make the most out of my purchase. Below are the specs listed in the shop where I found the laptops: | HP Omen 15 (85.000 PHP) | Lenovo Legion 5 (70.000 PHP) | Display | 15.6" 144Hz Full HD IPS | 15.6" 144Hz Full HD IPS | Processor | AMD Ryzen 7 4800H 2.9GHz | AMD Ryzen 7 4800H 2.9GHz | Graphics | NVIDIA GTX 1660Ti 6GB GDDR6 | NVIDIA GTX 1660Ti 6GB GDDR6 | Memory | 16GB DDR4 3200 MHz | 16GB DDR4 3200 MHz | Storage | 1TB SSD | 512GB SSD | Thanks for any advice! Looking for a gaming/streaming laptop ($1,500-$2,000) in US Posted: 02 Oct 2020 11:05 AM PDT Heyy! I'm an Apple user who is switching to PC for gaming. - Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
$1,500-$2,000 (my total budget is $3,000 including peripherals) - Are you open to refurbs/used?
Yes, but new would be ideal - How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
Performance and build quality are important. I need a comp that can handle multitasking and will last a few years. - How important is weight and thinness to you?
Not hugely important, but I will need to travel with it. - Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
15in. is sufficient - Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
Yes, video editing and live streaming. I'll be mainly capturing my gameplay from PS and Switch, but I would like to be able to game on the PC at times. - If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
Valorant - Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
Good keyboard (ideally, single key RGB) - Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
I'll be building a desktop eventually; I just need something that will work for the next few months while I'm away from home. Once I build a PC, I want this laptop to my secondary comp in my build. I'm torn between the Omen 15 and MSI GE66. I think the Omen 15 would probably suit my needs, but I would love a secondary opinion. Not just tryna to waste money for the hell of it. Razer seems great too but I think it's too expensive for what it is and seems to run ridiculously hot. submitted by /u/LoriBambi [link] [comments] |
Help me find a laptop 800-1100€ Posted: 03 Oct 2020 02:26 AM PDT Im going to university next month and need a Laptop for daily use (should last for 4-5 years). I will study computer science, so will need it for coding, normal uni stuff and also some media design. Of course i will surf a lot on the internet and watch some movies. I used to play a lot of league of legends, so maybe i will do that from time to time. I'd like it to be portable and lightweight and have a great screen. Also a nice build quality. I thought about buying a used monitor to work at home more comfortably. A laptop i'm considering is the lenovo yoga slim 7. But the new amd 4000 cpus aren't available a lot of the time in Europe. Also read about the asus zenbook but i'm not really a fan of it so far. Maybe you guys can help me and suggest some more options? Thanks submitted by /u/z1nski [link] [comments] |
Can you help me choose between two laptops? Originally wanted thunderbolt and card reader but can get an external card reader and wait to buy a thunderbolt port laptop next year.
Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. - I am trying to decide between the Lenovo 5i 2060 that's being sold at Wal-Mart for $1200 or the Msi GE63 2060 RGB-882 that's being sold at Wal-Mart for $1281. The Lenovo 5i doesn't have a card reader but is cheaper and I'm planning on reselling for half the price I bought it next year once the Nvidia 3000 series GPUs get put into laptops. My old laptop broke and I need a new one and don't want to wait for the next big sale to get the specs is really like such as thunderbolt.

Need help to decide on a casual gaming laptop for college. Posted: 02 Oct 2020 11:38 PM PDT PLEASE HELP ME OUT GUYS : After a long search, I've finally managed to sort out a few laptops that fulfill my requirements, and now I need help deciding on one. - Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.N/A
- Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.Nothing like video editing or graphics design, however, I will be playing some games, mostly shooters such as Apex and Valorant.

Let me know what you think of these, and why you think one would be better. Thanks a lot. EDIT : If you've got the time, please enlighten me a bit about the SSD vs HDD debate. HP Omen 15 (60Hz) vs Legion 5i (120Hz)? Posted: 03 Oct 2020 03:39 AM PDT I need help picking the best out of these two variants available in my region...(Legion AMD isn't available in my country yet, and Omen only comes with 60Hz) - HP Omen 15 - Ryzen 4600H, GTX 1650, 60Hz
- Legion 5i - Intel i5 10th gen, GTX 1650, 120Hz
I am still researching about laptop hardware so idk much. I have a few questions regarding these two... - Which CPU is cooler, 4600H or i5 10th gen?
- Which laptop overall will have better cooling? I want it to last atleast 5 years.
- I am not a hardcore gamer, I mostly need it for Coding and studies and some occasional gaming with my friends( They are playing Valorant these days). And I have never played anything above 40fps. Do you think I will be losing out on much if I go with 60Hz instead of higher option? Not wanna compromise on life span(thermals) just because of that.

Surface Pro 7 i5 for a College student Posted: 03 Oct 2020 02:40 AM PDT I'm really interested in the Surface Pro 7 8gb 128gb i5 version. I'm a marketing student and have all my documents on google drive. I mainly use Google docs as well for school works. Although I do occasionally use Photoshop to edit quick things (such as announcement graphics, etc.) (Nothing too demanding really). I may also use Adobe Premiere Pro for light video editing (Applying presets, adding text, and I might start a vlog type thing about my film photography) (Nothing too demanding either I guess). And the only pc game i might play is Sims 4 haha. This particular model is what really fits my budget. I also really love the tablet form factor. Will it be able to handle my tasks? Also, Surfaces don't usually have problems out-of-the-box right? Since I'm from the Philippines and I'll be buying it from a gadget reseller store that imports gadgets from overseas. (PH official stores have low selection and are very overpriced) Thank you! :) I also have other laptop models in mind but I'd like to ask your opinions if the Surface is okay for my tasks (really mostly gonna use it for browsing, google docs, pdf reading, school stuff, photoshop and premiere would be an occasional thing). submitted by /u/MarkChasingLife [link] [comments] |

[USA][600-700USD$] College Student looking for a 2 in 1 laptop. help pls lol Posted: 03 Oct 2020 01:59 AM PDT Hello! I just sold my i7-7700HQ, 16gb ram, gtx 1060 gaming laptop because its 30 minute battery life and dark display were just not what I needed anymore. I am wasting 300 pages of paper per week in biochem notes and need something I can write on PDFs with, but now without a laptop, I need something I can type/excel with too. Woops LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE - Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
I have 685 US dollars. I could probably borrow small amount in a pinch from friends. In one week I will get about 300 more dollars from parents for food, which I could opt to starve and put a few more hundred towards the laptop. Only downside is that would be another week without notes - Are you open to refurbs/used?
definitely. I actually cant decide if its better to go with, say, a surface book 1 from ebay or like a flex 5 that is new but maybe worse build quality... but, if you guys think its the way to go I don't care if its used at all. - How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
2 in 1. Solid build and good battery life are my primary wishes. It doesnt need amazing performance as I won't be gaming, but I would like it to not have chromebook-level FPS when just moving about windows. I will do lots of chrome, excel, word, powerpoint, maybe some ableton live if its capable. - How important is weight and thinness to you?
Pretty important to be portable.. although coming from my asus gamer nasa computer I think they all will feel very light lol - Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
i'd prefer less than 15.6 inches - Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
if it can run league of legends on low at 60 i'll be fine, haha. I would like to maybe use it for ableton audio editing so it may need more ram? that's secondary, though. don't let that ruin your plans for me haha. Mainly want it to stay with me for the last bit of undergrad and still truck through medical school if at all possible. Would like it to not feel cheap or feel slow. Lots of handwritten notes gonna be taken on this thing, and lots of papers too - If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
league of legends at 60fps on low is fine, obviously if the thing can smack some better games I would not mind as I am one with you fellow gamers (just finished a 3700x, 2080 super build!). - Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
To smack it on my desk and jab a pen into it every day for the next 5 years I would like it to be pretty durable... maybe metal instead of plastic? I know that's a lot to ask, but hopefully its possible. No need for any optical drives or bells and whistles. I'm open to stuff like surface pro. - Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
Surface book 3 leaves me weak in the knees cause it seems absolutely perfect. I just don't have that much money right now. So, I'm hoping to get some help in picking something that will function similar, or see if I should instead try and find a used, previously high-end product somewhere. Thank you guys! submitted by /u/Bard_and_Alchemist [link] [comments] |

10,000 hkd (~1300 usd) - Are you open to refurbs/used?
No How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? Performance>battery life>build quality How important is weight and thinness to you? I'm using it for school so it can't be too heavy. It doesn't have to be paper thin though, I can handle a little bit of weight Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. N/A Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. I'll probably be working with DAWs on this laptop (either one of FL studio or ableton live) If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? N/A - Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
Preferably touch screen but it's fine if it's not - Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
This is kinda urgent and I don't have a lot of time to stall. I broke my old laptop yesterday and I desperately need to get one for school next week. submitted by /u/viverries [link] [comments] |

Surface pro 7 vs galaxy tab s7 Posted: 02 Oct 2020 12:59 PM PDT I am having a hard time deciding on the surface pro 7 or the galaxy tab s7 (not the plus) for note taking in college in both the laptop and tablet mode. - Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
$900 USD. Preferably less - Are you open to refurbs/used?
no - How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
I will use it to take notes on in college. I already have a nice laptop at home. In order of most important to least important... Laptop mode, tablet mode, performance, build quality, battery life - How important is weight and thinness to you?
Not very important but the smaller the better - Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
Just small enough to use on a lecture desk - Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
Nothing that crazy, just onenote and maybe some games from time to time like minecraft - If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
Not very important. Might play games like minecraft from time to time Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? If you would like to suggest anything other than the two listed, I am looking for something that is good in both tablet and laptop mode with a nice pen. Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. -I can get the tab s7 for $200+ cheaper than the cheapest surface pro 7 if we are including keyboard/pen submitted by /u/weitnumm [link] [comments] |
