| Pixel 5 not recognized by Windows 10 over USB (no charging either) Posted: 28 Oct 2020 03:13 PM PDT Hi! Just got a Pixel 5 and I'm having trouble connecting it to my PC. I'm using a USB-A to USB-C cable that I think came from my Pixel 1 (possibly 2), and there's no signs that either device is aware of the connection. The phone shows USB options grayed out because it doesn't detect a USB connection, and the PC doesn't show the phone in Device Manager or through fastboot devices (while in fastboot mode, obviously) The Pixel 5's USB-C port does work, because the wall charger works. My Pixel 2 is able to connect to my PC fine, and I just updated the Google USB driver via the SDK Manager. I've tried using Android's Safe Mode. Tried changing the default USB option in the developer settings, as well as toggling USB Debugging on and off. No dice My guess is that it might just be the cable, but I'm hoping for some additional ideas before I run out and buy one [link] [comments]  |

Posted: 28 Oct 2020 06:51 PM PDT This is really weird and kinda creeping me out..My phone is a galaxy s10e. but I've taken a couple photos and my mouth has been messed up in them. In one photo it looked as though a completely fake generated mouth was put over mine, and it was smiling with it's teeth when I had my mouth closed. In the other photo it looks as though I am talking but again my mouth was closed. Is it some kinda of glitch? I can link the photos through imgur, but it's really freaking me out because my mouth was completely closed when I took these photos and suddenly it's altered with a mouth that looks nothing like mine. That being said, I would like a phone that has a good battery life. If anyone is recommending an android, which model should I get (pls recommend me an expensive as in $600-$800)? Note: I do not care if it's the latest or a generation old. Just as long as it's not super old (the model is 2 years old :d) Edit: Also need a good software where there are updates and it doesn't lag. | Why Is Alibaba installing automatically on my android device? Posted: 28 Oct 2020 07:55 PM PDT Hi, I have a problem with my device!! Sometimes for some reason my device enter automatically to play store while I am using anything that requires WiFi and installs Alibaba automatically as if it was some kind of virus controlling it !! I scanned for viruses and there wasn't any virus!! I luckily did something to find at least the roots of the virus and it was a certain "com.yhn" .....(I didn't read it all) and it was detected by play protect !! I am okay as long as the virus doesn't take full control of my system but it's annoying to encounter it like during online classes and in the middle of reading a book or playing a game!! I bought some gift cards and tried to redeem them, but they were already redeemed. Long story short, Apple customer service basically told me I'm SOL and I have to contact to local police and file a report through them with no guarantee that I'll get any of my money back. Has anyone had any issue like this when you tried to redeem a gift card that was already used in the Google Play Store? Now no emojis appear in the little predictive bar at all. I only come to reddit after trying to use google fails so... yes the setting that should completely fix my problem "predictive emojis" is set to on, and was never switched off. | Posted: 28 Oct 2020 08:43 PM PDT So, I got this awesome unlocked phone in the mail less than a week ago, and I found that it has Android 4.4.4 installed, which of course is causing me problems... Can't download certain apps, some crash, no support. So I wanted to upgrade to Android 6.0, it looks like that was their latest update from ATT, and I even bought a SIM card from them to try to get the update, no luck. So I'm left with two options, one is keep the phone for right now, and just deal with dying apps as it happens, and then I'm left with a useless thing... Or, what I have been trying for two days, following dead links and a bunch of stress... trying to update manually using ODIN. I got a build of Lineage OS instead, since it runs on Android 9 or newer, and now I have a different issue... my phone is showing up in device manager with a yellow flag saying that it failed to start, error 10, so I can't even connect it with adb or anything else. It's an S5 Active, yes I know it's an old phone, but it's a tuffy, I need a tuffy. Anyone got anything for me? I've looked in XDA dev, followed tons of dead links, and still can't get this to connect, let alone beam a custom ROM to it. [link] [comments]  |

It's pretty much setup the way I want it except the screensaver option is missing in the settings menu. The tablet is running Android 7 and is intended as an always on display for advertising etc so the os has had a small degree of customisation. Is there any way I can make the option available ? | Launcher That is Time/Day Dependent Posted: 28 Oct 2020 08:05 PM PDT Hi, I'm looking for a launcher (or solution) that will make my phone automatically go into a simplistic mode while I work and "non-simplistic" while I'm not working. Essentially 9 to 5, Monday thru Friday should automatically be in a "simple mode" and anything else is normal/non-simplistic. By simplistic I mean lack of widgets, certain apps are removed, basically nothing that I can get distracted with while I am working. Is there any easy way of doing this? Perhaps using 2 different launchers but having them automatically becoming default at specific times? I don't really care how it's done, just as long as it consistently works and doesn't drain my battery. Any advice is appreciated! [link] [comments]  |
| Removing Google and GMS services Posted: 28 Oct 2020 08:01 PM PDT So I recently bought a Huawei P20 Pro and love it. The only thing I don't like is having GMS and Google apps on the phone. I know that sounds ridiculous, but I've always been one to basically instantly remove them by installing a custom ROM like /e/OS. I don't want to install a custom ROM this time (unless it's a modified version of EMUI with Google apps & services removed), but I still want to remove them all. I haven't used any of the Google apps since getting the phone. I've either used app gallery or a third party store like apkpure. Thanks in advance :) [link] [comments]  |

When I say plug into the car, I mean a USB cord to charge my cell phone into the car's usb hub. The car sees my contacts and I can dial up using the car. It is also paired by bluetooth. But why in the living hell would it need access to my Secured Folder? I didn't set any app there. There are just photos in there I don't want people to find when I quickly share my phone to friends. | Weird issue with google play movies Posted: 28 Oct 2020 05:34 PM PDT Not sure if anyone's had this issue, not even sure if this is the right place to post this but I couldn't find anything about it online. But whenever I try watching Zombieland Double Tap through the play movies app on my TV (Sony X900F) it plays in French. Every. Single. Time. Despite having English selected as the language, it always plays in French. I've tried absolutely everything, clearing app cache, deleting and redownloading it, signing out of the app, contacting google, absolutely everything. But it still plays in French, even more weird is it'll start off in English after I do a fresh install of the app and literally like half way through someone speaking it switch's to French. I'm just dumbfounded. Movie works fine through YouTube though so not the end of the world, and it's seemingly only that movie, but still just the absolute weirdest thing I've ever encountered. Idk, I feel like I'm not happy with it and should switch to iOS and the Apple ecosystem. But I don't like Apple and their way of doin', I prefer open-source things, I prefer liberty of things etc. But I'm just... Confused. I had a SAMSUNG A5 2017 before. It really felt solid as a phone and perfect. It was balanced between specs and design, it wasn't a top smartphone, but it was sleek and curvy and wow. Is this true and so what are the logistics of it. Do you charger during the night? Do you charge to 50% at night than charge the rest in the morning?
