So i launched up rust and it said i didnt have enough ram but i have 16gb and it needs 10 so i check the settings and it says i only have 8 it use to work just fine and displayed 16gb. So i shut it down and unplugged the cable, i checked if the ram was in correct and when i was double sure i powered back up and boom no video. I just installed a new usb 3.0 extension pcie card which had 3 usb 3.0s and a usb c. It needed a power plug so i plugged it into a cable. I didn't unplug anything but i did hear a strange noise that could of have been that.

I tried talking out the 3.0 card but to no avail. I checked that the graphics card was plugged correctly and it was, im not sure where to go from here.

If you have any questions just ask, although i cannot get photos til around 8am AEST because my family is sleeping. My dad is going to clean it out with compressed air in the morning.

EDIT: btw i have had this computer for a year and it was a bit dusty

    Google Account Hacked

    Posted: 30 Oct 2020 06:11 AM PDT

My google account got hacked into and an in-app purchase was made for a game using my account. I had 2FA turned on and I don't know how they were able to disable that. I checked my security activity and it said 2FA was disabled from my own personal computer. Then, I see a new sign in from a device that I do not own and from the US, so I quickly removed that and changed the password. (I am from the US) I clicked on the transaction from my purchase history that was made by the hacker and I think it showed his username from the game he purchase stuff from and it was in Russian. it also provided me where it was purchased from and the address said Russia. Maybe he used a vpn to sign in my account to spoof the US location? Contacted my bank and got my refund already. The bigger question I wanted to know is how did he disable my 2FA and it even said it was disabled from my personal computer which is quite strange. Is my computer compromised as well? If so, what should I do from here?

Wavy image on pc when using camera

    Posted: 30 Oct 2020 06:20 AM PDT

I am using a Canon camera as a webcam. It is connected by hdmi to an Elgato Camlink 4K to my pc.

In OBS I am trying to set up a facecam, but the image turns wavy whenever something is moving in the image. If I sit completely still, the image looks fine.

I read something about 1080i being the problem, and that I should change to 1080p, but I didn't understand it, and don't know how to change it.

Blank screen past login after ungrade to pop_os

    Hello everyone!

I am experiencing a black screen after logging into pop_os after attempting to upgrade to the 20.10 version that showed up a few days ago. This is a ...big problem.

I did the upgrade from the GUI(I am sorry) and I think the computer restarted to apply the upgrade and it felt that i t was looping over trying to repair something in the installation. After a VERY long time, it put me back in the login screen, and that is when I first experienced the problem.

I tried booting with other kernels and nothing. I bring up the terminal at log in screen and try to sudo apt update and full-upgrade and I get hit with a dpkg error processing linux-firmware after a ton of warnings about missing firmware for amdgpu.

I looked for some answers online, and when I tried to fix dpkg with sudo dpkg --configure -a or forcing a reinstall of the firmware package and I get similar errors. You can see more on the attached pictures.

Some info that might be relevant: I've been dual booting (successfully for years, even after a motherboard replacement) with windows 10, and the videocard in question is a amd radeon r9 380 series strix. The drivers looked up to date when I ran lshw.

I would greatly appreciate your input to pinpoint what the exact problem is, and hopefully fix it, as I am trying my best to not have to reinstall linux.

Thank you in advance for your help!
