Posted: 30 Oct 2020 11:12 AM PDT Get it now or grab the Unlocker on Sale For more than 5 years now, you've known, downloaded, and loved Hermit, the Lite Apps Browser — and told all your friends about it too! And we have continued to release monthly updates with brand new features for the same low one-time purchase price that you paid early on. We have maintained the same high level of trust you put in us, and Hermit continues to be a privacy-first app with no ads, no upgrade nags, no personal data collection, no behavior tracking, and no shady SDKs. Thank you for all your support, we truly appreciate it! Not just a Wrapper App — Hermit is now a Full Browser App The latest version of Hermit is more capable than ever before. You can set it as your Default Browser, and it can handle all incoming links from other apps. Instead of opening them in your native apps, Hermit opens them in the corresponding Lite App (based on the domain name). Search or Type URL Plus, you can also use Hermit as a regular browser as well: search for anything, or type a URL and view the page. No need to create a Lite App. All pages opened this way are Incognito by Default (sort of like Firefox Focus). More Popular Browser Features Here are many of our popular features!
Plus, everything you have always loved Hermit for:
Better Engineered During 2019, we took some time to re-engineer the app to make it faster, more performant, easier to maintain, and less prone to crashes. Hermit is now a 100% Kotlin app, and uses the latest Android development technologies to ensure a better experience. Not only have we achieved a 99.9% crash-free rate, but we have also been able to launch new features much faster than before. For a full list, check out our detailed changelog at https://hermit.chimbori.com/changes New to Hermit? Lite Apps are fast and lean Web apps, tightly integrated with Android. With Hermit, you can create your own Lite Apps out of any Web site. Unlike a usual traditional browser, Hermit integrates Lite Apps into your Android OS, so that you can share from any other Android app to a Lite App, search from within the Lite App, get notifications via Atom & RSS feeds, and customize Privacy Settings, Content Settings, and Behavior for every single Lite App individually — features you won't find in any other browser. Hermit is proudly Android-first and Android-only, and follows Material Design guidelines to bring you a superb user experience backed by solid engineering & a commitment to your privacy: no personal data collection, no behavior tracking, all brought to you by a small California indie developer. The bottomline is, if you value your privacy at the price of a sandwich, then Hermit is for you. On Sale Now! Get it now or grab the Unlocker on Sale [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Oct 2020 03:12 AM PDT Two issues. Explanation needed.
This is very frustrating. [link] [comments] |
Thoughts on Lawnchair V2, and general trustworthiness? Posted: 30 Oct 2020 01:36 PM PDT Just wondering how thoroughly vetted Lawnchair is and how transparent they are with limiting data collection. Am I to understand that they are open source, but are not available on F-droid? How comfortable should one feel, for instance, when assigning permissions for notification access? Seems iffy. Audio Trimer/Cutter/Splitter without recode Posted: 29 Oct 2020 09:42 PM PDT I have a very long audio file (8 hours, 30 minutes) that I need to split into the different sections of the meeting or somehow create bookmarks within the mp3 file. Is this at all possible? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Oct 2020 01:59 AM PDT I'm looking for an app on Android where I can quickly go to a specific letter in the alphabet and find what I have written there. If this whole 'notbook' was then to be able to be printed so I had a physical copy that would be even better but not a deal breaker. [link] [comments] |

What keyboards do you guys use? Posted: 30 Oct 2020 08:09 AM PDT I've used SwiftKey for years but its gotten so slow that it's more frustrating than useful. I'm using a Galaxy S10+ so I don't think its because of my phone. What keyboard do you use? [link] [comments] |

New dev and new Tuning Fork app Posted: 30 Oct 2020 12:29 PM PDT Hello everyone :) I have made a Tuning Fork app for my friend because he is a singer and he needs it. I would like to hear your opinions because this is my first app. Also I would appreciate if you tell me if you find some bugs 🪳🪳🪳 The app has list of tones with frequencies to be played. And can also set custom frequency. It should be able to be used as dog whistle too. Here is the link to the app. Thank you 😀 [link] [comments] |

Is Bromite inherently better than others browsers like Brave or Firefox ? Posted: 30 Oct 2020 10:08 AM PDT I recently downloaded Bromite and was surprised to see it was close to Chrome in UI (no complaints, felt right at home) But does it have any inherent advantages (in terms of privacy and security) as compared to Brave when running without any changes to defaults ? YouTube fullscreen bug - Huawei P30 Pro Posted: 30 Oct 2020 05:11 AM PDT This started happening a couple of weeks ago, and I've found no way of fixing it other than to keep force losing the app and reopening until it works. If anyone has a fix for this it would be greatly appreciated. Watching a video on YouTube, turn phone 90 degrees to landscape view. No issues so far, the video turns with the phone and I have black bars on either side of the screen, where the video doesn't quite fit the screen size. Fine. I zoom in and I get the notification to say the video is now full screen, and even the white border flash around the screen edge , yet the video is small in a smaller ratio. I've tried reverting to portrait and back to landscape, I've tried using the fullscreen button rather than physically turning the phone, and nothing works. I don't even have the option to uninstall YouTube which I thought was weird. Any ideas? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Looking for an e-reader with good vertical scrolling Posted: 30 Oct 2020 04:13 AM PDT Hi, I am trying to read more so I decided to do it during the bus trips back and forth to the Uni I suffer a bit from motion sickness so I can't usually read while traveling Recently I discovered using the Kindle app that if I use the vertical scrolling mode (the text is organized in a single column and I just have to scroll down) instead of swiping right to change page I can actually read without feeling sick Now this is awesome for me but the kindle app only allow this if you bought the book from their store This would usually be fine but sometimes Amazon charges quite a bit even for old books (come on 10€ for each volume of Dune... It's 55 years old!!) So here I am looking for an app that allows me to read as I like even 3rd party downloads Things I tried: Moonreader: cool.. If only it didn't keep losing my progress every time I open it Cool reader: the continuous scroll isn't smooth and the little bit of lag each time I want to scroll makes it annoying Readera: the vertical scroll isn't continuous but just jumps to the next page FbReader: when you scroll you can still see the separation between the pages... Is there a camera app that doesn't upload to cloud? Posted: 29 Oct 2020 10:44 PM PDT Im looking for a camera app that doesn't back anything up, I want local storage only! I came across safe camera but apparently they recently started backing up photos online. [link] [comments] |
High performance apps (Spotify, Waze, Twitch, Maps) for low spec android head units for cars Posted: 30 Oct 2020 07:00 AM PDT Hi! Are there any available APK files for apps that will run better on hardware with limited performance? If yes, where can I download these? Thanks ! [link] [comments] |
