Potential Fix: MIUI 12 Battery Drain

    Posted: 02 Sep 2020 07:16 PM PDT

    Hey Everyone,

I have upgraded to MIUI 12 last week (using Xiaomi.EU ROM) and I've noticed there is indeed a battery drain. Disabling super wallpapers and switching to a static only partially helped. It wasn't until I disabled automatic contrast adjustment where the battery life is now back to MIUI 11 levels.

You'll find this setting in: Settings > Dark Mode > Adjust contrast automatically.

This setting also makes your screen appear darker than usual causing you to crank up your screen brightness further aggravating the battery life issue.

    'Hope this helps.

Thinking about getting Redmi Note 9s

    Posted: 02 Sep 2020 07:32 PM PDT

Should I get this phone? I like the hardware for the price.

Being that this is a Chinese manufacturer, is there anything I can do to make my data more secure? Should I flash a different ROM or version of Android or something?

Is there a recommended route for making my data more secure with one of these phones?

Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite - HUBE BATTERY DRAIN, HELP PLEASE!

    Posted: 02 Sep 2020 03:35 PM PDT

Hi! I've bought Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite about two weeks ago in my local T-Mobile as contract.

I have a big problem with with huge battery draining. On moderate usage It doesn't even last 20h. It really bothers my. I haven't checked the SoT yet but don't think I'll last more than a couple hours. Aftera a night I am loosing about 10%.

I turned have turned on: data transmission (I dont know if it's crrect name but i mean other internet instead of wifi lmao), BT, automatic screen lightning and that's all. Of course AoD is off.

That's so sad. I've tried formating phone to fabric settings, changing the transmitter, installing a new package and other thing that i dont remember, sorry. I have autostart of all apps off.

A the moment I have 67% after about 4 hours of 40 mins watching videons on streaming (IPLA), watching some sites on google chrome, some fb and some messenger. OF course not all the time. IS that okay? Screen is taking more than 27% of battery, messenger 15% and FB 11%.

    Help me, please!

Traded my Go in for a Redmi 7A.

    Posted: 02 Sep 2020 10:59 PM PDT

I couldn't stand how slow the Go was and the fact that it didn't even come with MIUI, so I returned it and got a Redmi 7A. What should I take note of?

Just got my Mi 10 Ultra today. I got a few things to share

    Posted: 02 Sep 2020 06:36 PM PDT

    1. The 120w charging is limited to 96w charging with 110v electricity and you don't get that cool 120W MAX charging animation :(
    2. That 55w wireless charging stand is a must buy. When I first got it it was at 20% then I 96w fast charged it to around 85% and placed it on the wireless charger and I don't think it's any slower than 96w charger when your battery is > 50%
    3. Picture quality is a kind of disappointment in the latest firmware. But I will need more testing. However, the dynamic range is great.

MIUI's memory management is an idiot

    Posted: 02 Sep 2020 10:10 PM PDT

I think this is a rant but if you know how to fix any of this by all means jump in.

Every morning I wake up whenever I wake up. My alarm hasn't gone off because MIUI killed the clock app overnight. I miss my first notifications in the morning because MIUI has killed FitBit's notification service. Coffee in one hand, I attempt to check the news with the other but MIUI killed Pie Control. I turn it and the notification service back on, but for some reason neither has the permissions it needs.

A reboot fixes it and brings all my stuff back, but why does MIUI think it's a good idea to close all my apps overnight? It's as though it's also killing some background service responsible for permissions because it temporarily loses those too.

Overnight is the only time I leave my phone alone for a really long time. It's not necessarily charging because I forgot to plug it in last night and had the same problem. I've found and disabled "Non-interactive mode" in "Smart scenes". By the description it doesn't sound relevant but hey, I've tried everything that makes sense so now I have to try the things that don't. I've also scheduled it to switch off and restart overnight so we'll see if that helps.

I'm trying really hard to not install a custom ROM on my phone this time but honestly, how do people put up with this nonsense? I know about auto start. I know about MIUI optimisations. I even know about the two separate screens where you can turn off battery optimisation for each individual app but none of this should be necessary. Android does memory management really well. Free RAM is wasted RAM. Why does Xiaomi insist on cleaning it? And if, for some reason, Xiaomi customers like that then why can't the rest of us have a "stop being an idiot" toggle in the settings?

Mi scale 2 mistaking muscle mass for Lean mass?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2020 02:07 PM PDT

I'm currently weighing 92kg, 28%bodyfat (which is equivalent to about 25kg). The scale says I have 64kg of pure muscle, and although i'd love that to be true, I don't think it is.

If you sum up my supposed muscle mass with my bodyfat, you will have my weight less bone mass.

Unless I have no organs, blood, etc, your data is wrong, xiaomi. It should be called lean mass, or massa magra in portuguese (my language). I'd really like to know what my actual muscle mass is, and would love to see an update that allows me to.

    Redmi 8 WiFi disconnection

    Posted: 02 Sep 2020 08:22 PM PDT

I have a redmi 8 with miui global 11.0.2. When I watch YouTube videos (or any videos for that matter, especially on full screen) the phone randomly disconnects from the WiFi, and reconnects (signified by the "back online" notification at the bottom of the video in watching). It usually reconnects fast enough, but some times I have to manually reconnect it. It has this problem with other routers too, but not with mobile data. Any insight as to why is this happening?

    System apps

    Posted: 02 Sep 2020 01:16 PM PDT

So I tried updating a few apps through apkmirror. The apps like gallery and messaging had bugs after updating. I uninstalled the updates for both of those apps. How do I update them back to the original version? I checked the system apps updater , but no updates were available.

Just Realized That Activity Launcher Allows You to Use Super Wallpapers Without Installing any apk and Google Wallpaper App (MIUI 12)

    Posted: 02 Sep 2020 08:44 AM PDT

When i saw the Super Wallpapers i said whoaw they are amazing! But then when i looked the available phones... It made me little upset. Now i was lookin around the Activity Launcher and i saw Super Wallpapers option under the Mi Wallpaper app. Then i applied them and now i am using it.

If someone wants to use them just download the Activity Launcher then apply them. They are amazing!
