Posted: 03 Sep 2020 04:12 PM PDT Hello everyone. I bought my pre-built computer two years ago and ever since then the computer would go through episodes where it BSOD's every ten to fifteen minutes. I've gone stretches of weeks without seeing it as well, but when it shows up, it's relentless and accompanied by a different "Stop code" each time. PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION, and at least half a dozen other ones that have words like WATCHDOG or KERNEL, I cannot remember them all. I've done everything on this page: https://wintechlab.com/windows-10-crashes-continuously/ My computer's specs: SSD 120 gb HDD 1 Tb 16 gb DDR4 SDRAM NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8gb AMD 2nd Gen Ryzen 7 2700x Processor at 3.7 GHz Gigabyte AX370M-DS3H Windows 10 The crashes tend to happen when videos are being played, but I have crashed when on Reddit or on programs like Excel as well. Not sure if it's important, but I am running a dual-monitor setup. I've already tried a ton of googling and a bevy of "tricks" like disabling XMP, disabling hardware acceleration on Chrome as well as the computer in general, consistently updating my drivers, etc. At a loss. I've seen solutions that suggest switching out RAM or the GFX card, but don't want to shell out money until I'm more certain about the issue at hand. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
Something is stumping me about SMB and I cannot find the reason/solution (W7 ult) Posted: 03 Sep 2020 09:01 PM PDT Simple setup: two computers each with W7Ult-sp1 on each. Share setup on each to let me use VLC on my iPad to watch videos. Basically I lAunch VLC, browse the network, see the PCs, login to the share and browse to the video I want. Problem: if I copy files from A--> or B-->A I can always access the other PC from the other PC (by browsing the network or using RD) but if I then try to watch videos on the iPad I get a spinning wheel of death in VLC if I try to connect to the PC the just received the files. To fix this I have a batch file that does the following: net stop "Browser" net stop "Server" net start "Server" net start "Browser" If I run this the iPad once again can access the videos. Question: why does copying a file seem to "break" my video apps until I run the batch file and essentially my the shares inaccessible? How can I change something on either PC so I don't have to run the batch file after every file copying operation? It's been happening for a long time, even after fresh installs of W7. Don't give me an answer that is akin to "upgrade to W10 or ditch the iPad" - neither idea gives me an explanation as to the "why" this happens. TIA. [link] [comments]
Video playback glitch while changing volume. Posted: 03 Sep 2020 08:44 PM PDT I have a Samsung notebook series 9 back from 2015 two days back I had a weird issue with it, while I change volume the video being played is slowed down and start glitching this happens both on youtube and others offline apps. one other issue is that I thought this might be a bug I reinstalled the windows but now I have lost my support for backlit keyboard. specs: Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4200U CPU @ 1.60GHz 2.30 GHz Installed RAM 8.00 GB System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor OS Windows 10 PRO [link] [comments]
How to delete system files that were transferred to a new PC? Posted: 03 Sep 2020 04:44 PM PDT I built a new PC and transferred a couple hard drives from my old PC, including the one that had my previous OS on it. I am now trying to clean this up but am met with notifications that I don't have the correct permissions. Obviously these permissions are attached to an OS I don't even have anymore. Is there a roundabout way to delete these files? [link] [comments]
Xbox 360 (afterglow) wired controller won't connect Posted: 03 Sep 2020 07:17 PM PDT Tried to install the xbox accessories 64 bit but the controller still showed as "xbox 360 controller windows 10 device descriptor request failed". Help please. [link] [comments]
Installing Windows XP over Debian? Posted: 03 Sep 2020 07:11 PM PDT I have been redirected from the Linux Support sub to here for this question. I recently bought a PC from Craigslist that has Debian installed on it, but it was originally a Windows 7-based desktop. After checking GParted apparently there is no dual boot. (I'm sorry if thats not the right term, I know nothing about Linux). If I have a boot disc of Windows XP, can I just put it in the disc drive and it will uninstall Debian in favor of XP? Thanks for the help in advance! [link] [comments]

Your phone app - how to stop phone from turning on when in use? Posted: 03 Sep 2020 03:54 PM PDT Really starting to like the feature, but how do I stop my phone from turning on whenever I want to open an app? It kind of defeats the purpose to have my phone constantly turn on and off next to me when I want to shoot a quick text on whatsapp or check a dm on insta (not to mention everyone around being able to read them). Posted: 03 Sep 2020 03:34 PM PDT Hi All, does anyone know of a method to control edge chromium to downgrade in the event an auto update introduces problems? The current policy can set a "target version override" but this won't force devices to downgrade to that version? [link] [comments]
Windows re-install question! Help please! Posted: 03 Sep 2020 03:13 PM PDT I'm about to swap my motherboard, cpu change, and new ram. Will I need to reinstall windows once I put everything into my new mobo? If yes, how do I do that? I don't remember the windows product key. Actually, I think I have a "digital license". Thanks in advance! Edit: fired up 1st time after the switch without having any issues! Fingers crossed it stays this way! Lol. Thank you all for all of your help. [link] [comments]

How many monitors can Windows 10 handle? Posted: 03 Sep 2020 06:52 AM PDT I was wondering what the theoretical limit to monitor/pixel count is on a windows 10 machine. I couldnt find anything except one forum post from 2015 suggesting that there is a limit of 32k x 32k pixels on a single windows desktop which I thought can't be accurate anymore. Winmgmt repository error 0x800070007? Posted: 03 Sep 2020 12:52 PM PDT This morning I had gone and found that windows 10 security had my antivirus (Bitdefender) turned off this leads to having both antiviruses running. Following the repair for this which leads to looking at the repository I had come across this error. This error has no information on it and the error previously connected was 'wmi repository is inconsistent' as apposed to 'wmi repository verification failed' My question is does anyone know what it actually is 'wmi repository verification failed' and what does it affect and what can I do to keep it from happening? any advice or questions of the writing will be appreciated. Trying to boot Windows 10 from USB but nowhere to install Windows to somehow? Posted: 03 Sep 2020 12:04 PM PDT I'm trying to boot Windows 10 on a laptop without a hard drive using a USB, I used the media creation tool, I got to setup but on the screen when it says "Where do you want to install Windows?", no devices are shown, and when I try to load a driver, all the directories just give me the message that "no signed device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and the click OK." Any idea how to get past this? [link] [comments]
Several Windows 10 functionalities not working Posted: 03 Sep 2020 07:45 AM PDT To keep it simple, if I click on the volume icon, the volume bar doesn't show up anymore, if I take a screenshot with win+shift+s the screenshot taken doesn't appear anywhere, the notifications and action center doesn't open and if I right click on any app on the taskbar the popup menu doesn't open either, it forces me to close the app through task manager sometimes. This are the issues I've noticed until today. Is there any way I could restore this functionalities without resetting windows? [link] [comments]

Not sure where to put this, Xbox game bar recordings are cut off. Posted: 03 Sep 2020 05:03 AM PDT I have my clip settings to record everything 3 minutes beforehand. but for some reason, the last 30 seconds before I clip is gone. It just cuts off early. As if i had pressed the clip button half a minute beforehand. example, After a finish a game, the Mvp screen was glitched out and I wanted to clip it because it was funny. The game loads into the main menu and I clip it, but for some reason in the recording it doesn't even catch the last kill, let alone the Mvp screen. This has happened a couple times before in different games. what is causing this? how do I fix it? [link] [comments] |
