Instagrabber: An open source Instagram Client Posted: 03 Aug 2020 10:02 AM PDT Instagrabber is an opensource client for Instagram. If you search around, you'd realize that there is no FOSS client for Instagram. You got Newpipe for Youtube, Slide and many other apps for Reddit. But aside from using a webapp there just was no real open source alternative to the actual Instagram app. Enter InstaGrabber. This little project was started a couple months ago as a post downloader and was on F-droid for a while before being discontinued by the original creator. Luckily, another developer forked it to Github and started working on implementing more features and tidying up the code. Lately, the app has shifted from a cool hacky post downloader into a more fully fledged, feasible FOSS alternative to the native Instagram app. Check it out! Right now the app is maintained by a one man team so we are in need of more devs! If you have any experience with Java and coding apps please contribute to this libre project! Join the Telegram chat! https://t.me/grabber_app Documentation: https://instagrabber.austinhuang.me/ Github: https://github.com/austinhuang0131/instagrabber PS. I'm not the dev, I just think this great little app could benefit from a bit of exposure. I've been using this app since the very beginning and think it's awesome and fulfills a need in terms of the opensource clients available for social media. [link] [comments] |
Fruit of hard work of my last 2 years Posted: 03 Aug 2020 02:23 AM PDT Hello friends, My name is Abhishek Thapliyal and I have been working on a part-game-part-app for mobile since last 2 years. I wanted to create something huge, something which will cater to demands of the majority, something which will have a very, very high retention rate, something which will impress everyone. So I came up with an arcade which is a combination of 222 games and apps. I have designed the overall concept in such a way that it will easily satisfy the demand of the majority. Want to enjoy hyper-casual games? Want to exercise your brain with a tough game of Sudoku? Want to boost up your English vocabulary? Want to polish your knowledge skills? Wanna test your craft skills? You are most welcome. All apps and games are divided into 7 categories:- 1.)Single Arcade In this section, you will get 100 hyper-casual games to enjoy !!! 2.)Dual-Arcade In this section, you will get 50 dual-player games to enjoy with your rival 3.)Mission Arcade In this section, you will get 5 games with total 300 levels to enjoy !!! From making logos to solving graphical puzzles, from blasting out enemy spacecrafts to destroying things, it covers everything The difference between mission_arcade and single_arcade is that games in single_arcade are hyper-casual, there are no levels to complete. Just simply play them whenever you want. But here you have to complete levels to move ahead, means that you can't play a level until you have not cleared its previous level. 4.)Puzzle Arcade In this section you will get 50 puzzles to solve and enjoy. Sudoku, skyscraper, binox, jigoku, creek, kakuro, fillodoku, degree, ebony-ivory, futoshiki, go-figure, gokigen naname, hitori, kakurasu, kuromasu, nanogram etc are just few of the examples. There are also 4 types of puzzle-mazes (Remember, when a puzzle is solved, the 'solve' button disappears during the game-play) NOTE:- Very soon, I will introduce 'save mechanism'. Through this feature, one will be able to save the work so that one can continue solving the puzzle where it was left earlier. It will be much comfortable to solve the puzzles In most of the puzzles the background is black in color. It is because a good amount of time is required to solve puzzles, especially tough ones. It will reduce eye-fatigue as much as possible 5.)Photo Arcade In this section there are 5 photo-puzzles to solve and enjoy. Basically you have to jumble up the photos pieces to complete the level. The unique thing about this is that all levels are already unlocked. Means that you can play any level you want in the beginning itself !!! 6.)English_Mania In this section there are 5 English related apps to enjoy. These are designed to improve your vocabulary and spelling and it also boost your knowledge. So jump in and enjoy all the benefits !!! You will never get something like this anywhere else 7.)Extras In this section there are 7 apps of various kinds, ranging from knowledge to art to memory and even more !!! Just imagine, drawing by tilting your mobile, making a 3-d object by painting boxes and a Pandora of knowledge and quotes !!! And even much more I have made 2 versions of my game. One is free (with ads) and another one is paid (you will have to pay only once).Naturally I will suggest to go with the free one (if you find the game cool then you are most welcome to purchase my game). Free version https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cascade.thaplisupergamefree Paid version https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cascade.thaplisupergame I have also added a demo in the description of paid version. By clicking on it, the user will be directed to HTML version of the game. It is done because if any user, unaware of the free version, directly jumps to paid version, then e/she can get a taste of the game before purchasing it. (Out of the box:- My dad was strongly recommending to remove the ads based version from the play store. He believes that ads destroy the essence of the game. So maybe I may remove the ads based version from the store in future) [link] [comments] |
Every day at 1am chrome app reinstalls itself Posted: 02 Aug 2020 11:11 PM PDT Really frustrated. I cannot get this app to go away. I've disabled play store automatic updates. Disabled phone automatic updates. I disable and force stop chrome and remove all its permissions and it STILL reappears every day around 1-3 am! I cannot for the life of me get it to go away. I know I cannot permanently delete it, but i cannot even disable it! When i disable youtube or facebook it never comes back and the icon is gone and its out of my mind. However chrome reappears every fucking time. Then it tries to be my default browser and open links despite another browser set as default. Does ANYONE have a answer? I have a lg stylo 5. [DEV] A simple way to read newsletters: Manage your subscriptions as easy as it gets. Posted: 03 Aug 2020 04:45 AM PDT For people like me who reads a lot of content on the internet, newsletters are a must! But it gets hard to follow each one as the mailbox gets full of work and spam related e-mails. So, to have a view focused on content reading and digest, we created mux (https://mux.to), a single, manageable mailbox! How it works? You receives an special email [youruser]@mux.to and you can manage anything from accept or blocking any newsletter that you have received in just one app. Mux is especially made for:
So, there's only one way to know, download it and give us your feedback! Get it on Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=xyz.bigsmall.mux [link] [comments] |

ISO Ringtone based on current local temperature, to play sound of crickets Posted: 03 Aug 2020 08:15 AM PDT Using this formula (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolbear%27s_law), I'd like an app that will play the sound of crickets during an incoming call based on the current outdoor local temperature. Does this already exist? [link] [comments] |
[DEV] A free habit app specifically for families/close friends - looking for testers! Posted: 02 Aug 2020 10:49 PM PDT Hello! I made SnapHabit because I couldn't find an app where I could actually join my dad in a habit. Using the app with my dad has drastically improved his habits and honestly made us closer... so its #anotherhabitapp... but honestly I could not find out good for groups - hence we made it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.gravitech.habit.staging With SnapHabit, you can have a private habits, share progress on a solo habit, or create a group habit and invite friends to join. It's free & no ads (long-term, the goal is to monetize via content). Upcoming changes include data export and speed improvements. I'd love to get random people to test it out. Hope to get some feedback and critique, and will be posting updates over at r/snaphabit. To be honest, the Android App is not as polished as the iOS one yet --- and I could use help in getting feedback to improve. Happy to answer questions :). [link] [comments] |
Action Launcher Help: Folders are 100% buggy Posted: 03 Aug 2020 08:22 AM PDT I have confirmed this on several phones and tablets, Pixels and Galaxy. I want to migrate from Nova to Action but this is unbearable. Whenever I click the folders on my home screen, they never open on first tap. I know it's working because I hear and feel the feedback so Android is "seeing" my taps, 100% sure. But after 2 or 3 taps, THEN the folder finally opens. Please. Is there a developer option to workaround this or something? It's been like this forever. Thank you kindly. Nova and MS Launcher and stock Pixel launchers have zero issues like this. So, it's Action. :) [link] [comments] |

Serum: Science Fiction Text Adventure Posted: 03 Aug 2020 05:03 AM PDT Epic science fiction text adventure. [100% Free] Enjoy an epic science fiction tale by award winning author L.B.Speller. Unlike some role-playing game-books and interactive novels, Serum has no complicated systems and plays much like the classic Chose Your Own Adventure (CYOA) game books. It has no ads and is 100% free. This role-playing scifi text adventure focuses purely on telling an exciting and original story, immersing the player in a unique sci-fi setting, pausing only to offer exciting and challenging choices which lead to dramatically different outcomes. Aliens are exploiting the earth, stealing her wealth, and mankind seems happy to let them. As a rare genetic anomaly, you are one of the few Humans able to pilot a ship between the planets, a gift denied even to the aliens whose ancestors made the dimensional gateways. Will you sell ever more of your own planet's resources to line your pockets, even as Earth crumbles about you? Or will you make a stand against the alien threat and restore your world? The choices you make have the power to change both worlds, for better or for worse. [link] [comments] |
[Request] Apps similar to solid explorer? Posted: 03 Aug 2020 10:47 AM PDT Hi, I want to replace solid explorer which I currently use with a better and without the bug which solid have(it's dev didn't even fixed for over a year, kinda fed up). Solid is great, the ui and smoothness everything. But when I open any zip file from other apps(like telegram to view them) it doesn't work. I have tried mix explorer as suggested by my telegram friends. But not as good and not so smooth. Different taste, different experiences XD So is there any app which works similar to solid, has features just like solid/mix and doesn't have that zip bug 🤔? Will appreciate your suggestions and sorry if I did anything wrong with the title [link] [comments] |
Looking for manual event logger Posted: 03 Aug 2020 10:44 AM PDT I'm looking for an app that will have just one screen, where will be a plus button. When I press it I'll have to enter any value and after saving there will be a line with the current date/time and the value. The fewer other features the better. [link] [comments] |

Android's built-in weather app has suddenly disappeared? Posted: 03 Aug 2020 10:19 AM PDT I have been using the built in Android weather app for years. Kinda got attached to that little frog. As of today - it's gone. Now when I use the weather app it just googles "weather" instead. The entire formatted forecast with little froggy is gone. I even went through the steps again to reassign the shortcut to my home screen on my Pixel 3 and it can no longer be performed. There's no longer a hamburger menu in the upper left. Anyone know what happened? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Aug 2020 10:14 AM PDT Dark Sky finally went away, taking my home screen widget. I've been trying out different replacements and am leaning toward Today Weather. But the widget isn't playing nice with my live wallpaper, which changes color to match the time of day. If I have a transparent background, which looks good, the text and icons become difficult to read certain times of the day. I don't remember having this problem with Dark Sky but have already forgotten exactly what the widget looked like. Does anybody remember? Was it transparent or solid? What about the text color? Today is pretty customizable so I'm hoping I can dial it in. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Aug 2020 02:16 AM PDT Hey I've just switched from iPhone to android and I'm struggling to find an email app that does exactly what I want: 1. Exchange support 2. vip notifications 3. Smart folders / filtered folders / saved searches I've spent a good hour on Google on and off the past few days and am struggling to find articles that address these features. For iOS, this app that did this was Airmail. Which, don't get me wrong, is a glitchy unreliable mess. Is there an equivalent (hopefully without the glitches) for android? [link] [comments] |
Cheetah Browser's url/tool bars hiding mode Posted: 03 Aug 2020 11:42 AM PDT Hi! First post here! Recently I tried a mobile web browser that everyone hates because of security reasons. Yet I REALLY liked the url/actions-bars hiding mode it has, and I can't find any other good web browser that has it (or I'm stupid and don't know how to customize the ones I tried). This hiding mode I'm talking about is basically, instead of showing the address bar everytime you scroll up (which I hate) you have a button for it. You can throw around this button so you never click it. Does anyone knows a good browser that has it, or how to customize firefox/samsung browser to behave like that? Thanks in advance! Cycling routes manager, tracker, bike racing, video game style Posted: 03 Aug 2020 01:50 AM PDT I am looking for an app where I can set up my cycling routes and track the time of my laps. Setting up checkpoints and the option of displaying a guiding arrow to the next checkpoint, with time elapsed and current speed meter would be sweet bonus. You know, racing game style.
