[Dev] I finally managed to finish and release a game! (It's FREE btw)

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 10:26 AM PDT

Took me longer than I would have liked but I finally managed to complete my goal.

It's called Road Runner and it's a game about trying to dodge cars and trying to get as far as you can, obviously don't try this at home lol

It's a simple game but can be quite addictive.

I don't really have anyone to share it with so not many people have played it, I would love for you to have a go and try to beat the high score.

Here is the Google Play link.

    Thank you!

Best weather app? My favorites got gutted by IBM

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 09:09 PM PDT

Intellicast was the best app long ago. Had great storm trackers, lightning, best radar. It somewhat recently changed to "Storm" by the Weather Channel, which was acquired by IBM

They recently gutted every good feature from Storm, and now charge a monthly subscription to get it on the weather channel.

Does anyone have a good weather app that isn't owned by weather channel / IBM??

[DEV] Remote health monitoring for seniors

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 12:14 PM PDT

I'm a mobile developer specializing in digital health, AI, and activity/behavior recognition. As I started looking after my grandmother several years ago, I became very intimately aware of the unique challenges and concerns of a caregiver, and set out to create a platform for the remote health monitoring of seniors.

Peace of Mind was finally released yesterday. It has been the product of 1.5 years of work from a team of four developers. I'm so glad to finally have it out on the market! I hope some of you can check it out and give me some feedback. Basically: you pair your app with your patient's (grandparent, parent, uncle, etc), and get real-time updates and visualizations about their safety, health, and wellness.

This is not your ordinary location tracker: it is chock full of advanced activity and behavior recognition like stress detection, sleep detection, extended inactivity, extreme weather, fall detection, etc. I hope its something a bit different that makes the caregiver experience simpler and easier.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.burlymarmot.peaceofmind.caregiver_v2

Please feel free to respond with any feedback you may have, or message me directly. While there are premium (paid) features, the goal here is not to make any money- just hoping not to lose too much on server related expenses, which are quite high for this app. I am more than happy to give any beta users free premium membership to check out some of the more advanced features (DM-me!).

    Thanks in advance!

    Life calendar app?

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 08:12 AM PDT

Hello, I´ve been using a paper version of a Life Calendar for a long time alongside a notebook where I´ve written a note every week, does anybody know of an app with the same purpose? With the possibility of adding a note to every week and highlighting with different colors?

For those who don't know what life calendar is: It basically helps you visualize your life by breaking it down to weeks. Each week is symbolized by a little box. Check out this post for more info: https://www.codymclain.com/blog/life-calendar

    An app similar to notion??

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 09:41 AM PDT

I've been playing with chrome extensions and found notion. I think it's great and I love it has so many options to edit to your preference, add tasks, links, notes, calendar, etc. But I have two main problems:

    • I am a student who usually takes notes on her computer, my school doesn't have internet so I can't take notes on notion. I usually use OneNote for this, but I'd love to have a all in one
    • The android app sucks. It's very slow, doesn't have notifications, and its hard to use on phone

Does anyone know a similar app that has a desktop mode too?

App to automatically autodial and work through call reminder list?

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 06:49 AM PDT

Hi, see title, so that a person ideally in a hands free situation like when driving could work through their daily list of work calls with the phone autodialing one call after another, or making it as hands free as possible, thank you. It would be a bonus if the app works on IOS too. Some apps do call reminders, but I haven't found one that auto calls, or for example will initiate the next call 10 seconds after the previous one in the reminder list ended. Thank you

    Good Blue Light Filter?

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 10:13 AM PDT

Do you guys know of any good blue light filter apps? The built-in one on Android 10 isn't strong enough and all the ones I've tried from the app store just put a translucent overlay on your screen to varying results.

I used to use cf.lumen or f.lux on my old phone and those worked perfectly as they managed to actually filter out blue light, but for some reason they don't work on my current one (Pixel 3a, rooted).

Any augmented reality app for andoroid without vr hardware?

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 06:45 AM PDT

Was reading some vr and ar, but i believe technically if you look at them tru your monitor instead of a vr headset it is still considered vr/ar. So what ar does is uses camera to pick up the physical surroundings including people and modify or add things into the presented augmented reality. And with phone features that adds stuffs like rabbit hat on selfies, live chat and even ai to enhance a persons look on the fly, i wonder how common and advance are ar apps nowadays. Can they add tails to everyone in the camera, can you get the app to remember people like it would with contacts and add accessories or alter their look, and whether other friends using the same app can customize their looks so when you see them tru your phone you can see their customized skin?

Im guessing with a vr set you can change your color output to see hdr, bnw or washed out colors or add grain effects so you feel like you are inside a film or something.

I also saw there are naughty apps that turns people naked on the fly even though its accuracy would be questionable (different from deepfakes that would require editing like photoshops), would it be illegal under certain laws?

Weather app with widget like "lines" from Weather Timeline?

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 12:17 PM PDT

    http://i.imgur.com/l5fyGmz.png

Basically, a widget that shows temperature over the next 24 hours as a line graph. Preferably, it would also show precipitation like WT, but the main thing is temperature.

    Thanks!

Does anyone have recommendations for a GPS app that I can download in full (maps included) to an SD card and install via APK?

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 11:23 AM PDT

I have an Android head unit and the Wifi has stopped working. So, even though I can install Google Maps, etc, there's no way to download the GPS maps for offline use.

    TIA!

Need help looking for an app

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 07:02 AM PDT

There was this one app that shown in a video by Mrwhosetheboss years ago.

It was of those Best apps of the month, that he used to do before.

I tried looking for it, but he has made many of them (sometimes I feel he has even taken that video down).

    Here's what it does:

After you take a screenshot, you can edit the text in the screen shot. By edit I mean : you can remove or add words to the text in the screenshot, in the exact size, colour and font in the screenshot.

I tried looking for the app almost everywhere! But all I get are apps that let you edit screenshots by edit here I mean : add text to a screenshot (impossible to match to original font colour, etc) or crop it.

Does anyone know the app I'm talking about? Has it been removed from the app store?

Anyone having any problems with 'IP Webcam' lately?

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 07:59 PM PDT

IP Webcam (Pro) is a favourite app of mine and I'm using it on a spare phone (Huawei y300) and it used to work good but now it stops working after like 2 days of continuously running before I have to restart it and I'm not sure why. I've even hard reset it which has made zero difference.

At first I thought it may have been due to WiFi coverage but then for quite some period it runs fine at the exact spot and the other times it will just not connect. I also noticed at one point when I went to restart it, the number of connections was stuck on 12 video connections and I'm not sure why.

I'm also having FPS issues, getting around 0-7 FPS a lot of times which is bit of a problem since I'm trying to get 24/7 recording of it (via TinyCam) when I can get like 15-25 FPS from the phone.

If anyone can help me, I'd really appreciate it.

    Good email clients for folders?

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 06:32 AM PDT

I have a specific way of organising my email folders, using outlook on my pc. Folders made per project, then I create auto move rules for all conversations for each project goes into its folder automatically. All folders in use are then favourited on the outlook sidebar.

However on my android email client, I can't see these auto moved unread messages without scrolling through hundreds of active and inactive folders. is there a way to create an "all mail" option on my phone so I can see these messages? Or a different client to do it with, even displaying the favourite folders?

    Thanks
