Posted: 23 Apr 2020 10:55 AM PDT So right now i have a 144hz and a 60hz monitor and i play on the 144hz and have obs on my 60hz and it locks my 144hz monitor to 60hz. My question is if i get a third 144hz and put my obs on that would it fix or would it just put it to the 60hz of my 3rd monitor? Also if you know a fix please tell me so i don't have to buy another monitor 😂 [link] [comments]
Help with resetting my Windows 7 laptop Posted: 23 Apr 2020 04:43 PM PDT I was trying to factory reset my computer and noticed the option to do so wasn't there and was replaced by "Reinstall Windows (requires Windows installation disc" The issue is, is that I don't have the installation disc, and don't have the money to get one. I asked my uncle who gave me the laptop and he doesn't have it either. So is there any way I can reset the laptop for free? Any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Apr 2020 06:40 PM PDT I recently bought a second monitor. One is 1080p while the other is 1440p. Right now in the display settings menu, they can't line up perfectly because one is a lower resolution. As a result, there is a virtual wall that doesn't allow me to drag my mouse cursor across for about 1/3 of the screen. Is there a way to make windows consider them the same size without changing the resolution of the bigger one? [link] [comments]
Is it possible to RDP to a machine without disconnecting the active user? Posted: 23 Apr 2020 07:22 AM PDT Like a tech support feature, only with RDP. I'm aware of the /shadow command, but the version of Windows on the target machine does not support shadowing. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]

Windows 7 Pro 64 not recognizing all RAM Posted: 23 Apr 2020 07:07 PM PDT Many years ago I built a really nice desktop which I feel still performs quite well even today. Issue I have is that there's 12GB of RAM. For the longest time Windows would only recognize 4GB. I have changed it many times in the Boot settings and it finally recognized 8GB but never 12GB. I have run diagnostics to see if any of the RAM is bad but there are no errors reported. I saw one way to attempt this was messing with the paging(?) but I'd prefer other options. I have a GIGABYTE mobo and it should be able to handle it. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks! [link] [comments]

No calculator or web searches in search Posted: 23 Apr 2020 10:44 AM PDT Hi all, I know the Windows search can be crappy, but I use it a lot for quick calculations or web searches. Recently, I have been unable to use the calculator or search the web in search. I do have Edgedeflector and Chrometana installed, and I have had no issues with them installed before this started happening. It would be great if I can have these features back because they are quite useful. Thanks! Screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/d3r7530 [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Apr 2020 11:35 AM PDT So basically here's what I've been experiencing:
• Here are the possible causes for this:
• Other details:
• Media for reference: (Imgur Links) - Viruses I haven't turned on my PC for a week now because I'm quite scared to deal with the situation. I have also followed other guides on the internet on virus scans. I really don't want to resort to having my PC clean installed. I would love to fix these three issues I currently have. I appreciate the help and I hope I have given enough information. Ask me if you need more. Thanks a lot! [link] [comments]

Windows 10 won't finish install HELP PLEASE Posted: 23 Apr 2020 06:21 PM PDT So unfortunately I am now a victim of the recent Windows10 update that is giving systems blue screens of death. None of Windows 10's troubleshooting options worked so I figured doing a clean install was my best option. I used my Windows 10 boot drive (install tool on USB) to format my C drive and reinstall Windows 10 Pro. The install gets to the point where it needs to reboot the system, but that's it. After the Mobo manufacturer screen I get this "error: unknown filesystem. Entering Rescue mode... grub rescue>" error. Is there I'm doing wrong? Do I need to mess with the boot order in my bios? I've put Windows 10 on numerous systems and never ran into this before. Please Help! [link] [comments]

I've tried a lot of different things like using diskpart, setting partition tot primary, disconnecting other storage devices, using a differt sata header. I have no clue what tot try anymore. Kernel Power Error 41 on Surface Laptop 3 Posted: 23 Apr 2020 04:52 PM PDT I've only had my surface laptop 3 for about 5 months and it has been operating perfectly until a week ago. My laptop randomly shuts down without me pressing a button. What I think may have caused this was holding the power button down for 20 seconds one time. Any suggestions to fix this? Thanks. Posted: 23 Apr 2020 04:06 PM PDT Hey all! I'm new to this sub! Anyways, here's what I'm looking for: An RGB / Chroma theme for windows 10, something with active color shifting that affects the task-bar, the start menu, and individual file explorer windows just as the regular color selection themes do in the settings menu. I have both rainmeter and wallpaper engine, but neither have what I'm looking for to the full extent of my knowledge. The closest thing I have found so far is a win-zipped mod that only changes the taskbar to shifting RGB, not the rest of the windows theme. Does anyone know of anything like this? Would love to hear from you guys! If you don't have any ideas please toss me an up-vote for exposure, every bit helps thank you so much!! (Xpost from r/Windows_Redesign) [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Apr 2020 03:56 PM PDT I've previously used Bandicam, which did everything smooth and well, but I wanna see if there are other options out there. I am mainly looking for a screen capture program that does just that; capture custom area of the screen or an entire window/screen in 1-2-3. I just want to fire up the program, select an area I wanna record and start recording. Naturally, I use OBS for streaming, but for quick and easy screen capture, OBS falls short, hence why that is not an option. What program do you recommend? I am considering iSpring Suite. How can I get the system tray onto both monitors? Posted: 23 Apr 2020 02:15 PM PDT Hi, i have a two monitor setup (laptop + TV), and its quite useful. However an issue i have is that I sometimes want to have a game or something on one monitor and be able to check notifications on a second monitor (ie discord, steam, battery etcetra). I am aware that I can drag the taskbar, but I would like to have the system tray available on both monitors not just one. I did some googling and the answer was a no as far as 1st party windows support, but all the fourms and threads were from 2015-2017ish. I was curious if this is something that has been fixed/added since and if so how would I go about doing such a thing? I'm vaguely aware of DisplayFusion, but if there isn't any direct windows support, are there any better alternatives? [Personally not a big fan of how Displayfusion looks] [link] [comments]

Posted: 23 Apr 2020 01:37 PM PDT I work for a small business. It appears as if two of our devices are linked somehow. One employee changes their background and it changes to the same background on another device. And there are files that randomly show up on the desktop that should be on another persons computer. Any ideas on how to fix this issue? [link] [comments]
Send to Desktop (Create shortcut) from Start Menu? Posted: 23 Apr 2020 09:50 AM PDT I'd like to see this feature brought back, as the only way on Windows 10 is through Open file location > Send to > Desktop. In previous versions, you could right click (or drag) any application from the start menu and create a shortcut to the desktop. [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Apr 2020 01:31 PM PDT Windows 10 keeps reverting back to version 1607 when I try to update with the error code 0x8007001f – 0x20006. I've made sure I have enough space on the HD, tried running Windows Update Troubleshooter, making sure I have admin control, updating on a clean boot, and downloading Media Creation Tool and selecting "Upgrade this PC now." I haven't tried using a thumb drive yet, because I'm still not sure if it will erase my files. Anyone know if it's safe to do so, or have any other things I could try? Let me know if you need any PC specs. [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Apr 2020 07:29 AM PDT Im trying to install " 2020-04 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based Systems (KB4549951)" but my settings says there was a problem and to try again, been trying for about week now. I googled the error code "0x800f0831" and somehow ended up in windows update catalog where i downloaded the update manually and tried to install it, however it lead to another fail in install and said the same thing as settings.
