| Is deleting reserved space a bad idea? Posted: 02 Apr 2020 02:37 AM PDT Hi all, I'm currently running Windows 10 on a virtual machine in order to play some of the older Silent Hill games. Now, I only have 120GB on my MacBook Air, and predictably, the storage is a bit tight. I'll probably be deleting the OS in a month or so once I've finished the games, so is deleting the reserved space a good idea? I've already tried the regedit thing where you change the ShippedWithReserves from a 1 to a 0 (After backing it up, of course), but that failed to work. Any tips or advice? Thank you. | Posted: 02 Apr 2020 04:58 PM PDT I say gaming PC because it was a custom prebuilt PC by Maingear. I've searched the internet for answers but as always I can't find any answers. I've tried every option that it has from Troubleshoot: Startup Repair, Uninstall updates, Start-Up settings, firmware settings, system restore, and even the command prompt. I also have a device that came with my PC for Windows Recovery but doesn't do anything. nothing works. even trying to reset my PC. I've been trying to fix this since last night with little sleep. | Somethings wrong with my Settings ?! Posted: 02 Apr 2020 07:35 PM PDT After I bought a new SSD for my computer I reinstalled Windows on it. After everything was installed I tried to make some adjustments and I came across this weird bug. I can click everything and everything works as intended but the text is still buggy. | Posted: 02 Apr 2020 07:24 PM PDT I got an alert saying Trojan.Agent on my anti viruses, and the file name is QEMU/Host Services x64.exe. After a quick research I found out this is a virtual machine of sorts. I have never installed anything like that on my computer, and I got an alert saying I have a virus on my pc so I took an educated guess that I was hacked. There are files under a folder named haxm-windows_v7_5_1 which looked the most suspicious out of all. My questions are: What could the hacker possibly have done to my pc/ my info? Do I have to reset my whole computer or am I in the clear since my anti viruses found the problem and quarantined it? Do I have to change my passwords? I noticed my computer was bugging out in the past month or so, which I assumed was caused by me having over a hundred tabs of chrome open (for my own reasons), could it be the virus? It DID appear to be a little clunky even when I closed chrome. It wasn't THIS slow until last night, though. Thanks. [link] [comments]  | ||

| Is the price of Windows 10 activation worth it? Posted: 02 Apr 2020 05:48 PM PDT I've been using windows XP pro for the past 15years and it was brilliant and I will admit it was not a legit copy of Windows. But it was easy to access and I was learning a lot about computers at the time and piracy was so socially normal. Anyway, I'm sitting here thinking about Windows 10 and the price of the activation key and how it works out. If I were to purchase it, it'd only validate the free version of windows 10 I have now (I skipped the free upgrade at the time) and it seems like Windows needs to provide a better method with product key purchases to make it worth it. Opinions on the price / usability for activation? Is it worth it? To be able to use themes and remove some messages? [link] [comments]  | ||
| Posted: 02 Apr 2020 01:55 PM PDT I'm not really sure what to call it, but its the black bar at the bototm of the screen witht the windows logo and search bar. My problem is, whenever I try to click on the search bar, or the symbo on the bottom right that looks like a comment symbol, nothing happens. My main problem is that when I click on the windows symbol itself, it says there has been a critical error that will be fixed when I sign back in, but it never is. | Oh my god there's so much wrong with my computer please help Posted: 02 Apr 2020 03:57 PM PDT I can't get any .lnk file to run in anything other than the CMD. i've tried Defualt Programs> Set Associations, didn't work. i searched for an answer, saw Regedit. tried regedit. windows can't find C:\Windows\System32\regedit.exe. look for a solution to that, too. see that i can move it to desktop, rename, it should work, right? same error, different directory. hmm, ok. i try regedt32.exe. no luck. maybe something with Task Manager i could try? no, nothing. then maybe i try something in CMD? doesn't look like i can do anything there, can't run as admin. can't run anything as admin. now i'm really panicking. everything is opening in the CMD, and i can't fix it. i've been trying for an hour. restarted my computer 5 times. I'm on windows 7. Not sure if something's wrong with my environmental variables, but i did try things with those. please, help. [link] [comments]  | ||

Formated C.. all disk, there were no partitions so windows created new one. Anyo, Windows update and I get intel and nividia update without going to update but while I was downloading Kaspersky updat. Intel system 7/18/1969 10.1.16.3 .. is that a virus??? Windows wasn't supposed to install update for "manufacturer apps and custom icons". Am I safe with those updated and are they normal? I've restarted the computer several times, and managed to get the computer to restart in recovery mode, but can't actually do anything, since I have no way of giving instructions to the computer. I've replaced the batteries in both the mouse and the keyboard, and am fairly sure that the issue isn't with them. I'm also unaware of Windows having downloaded any updates recently. With the third screen (a tv), I want to duplicate the 1st screen. However, I can't get it to work. Though, it is possible to have screen 1 and 3 duplicated, but the 2nd screen stops working.
