Posted: 02 Apr 2020 12:59 PM PDT Hey all! I'm in the market looking for a good commuting laptop. Ideally, I'd like it to have an emphasis on form factor (ideally having a 13inch display), and durability (being able to handle being tossed around in a backpack). Specs wise, I don't need a whole lot of performance, I've already built a desktop that I use for gaming. All I need out of it, is the ability to efficiently run Microsoft office, an internet browser, and a few non-intensive programs for work and school. I'd like it to have a decent battery life, but I'm never really too far from an outlet. Any suggestions for a tough little work machine? [link] [comments]
I Need Help Shopping For A Laptop Posted: 02 Apr 2020 12:30 PM PDT Hey There!, I need to find a good laptop for school, I specifically need a laptop that is portable, is good for work, has a long battery life, and I can still run steam and other games on it at a decent quality, so no Chromebook. and I can't afford anything more than 1000$ CAD, so please help reddit. and thank you in advance, Edit: if it can run destiny 2 with pixelated graphics then I'm cool with that [link] [comments]
Is there an amd lg gram equivalent? Posted: 02 Apr 2020 02:24 PM PDT I've been thinking about buying an LG Gram but im not sure if it's a good move, taking into consideration the new AMD laptops and their very low prices. Is there an AMD alternative? Specifically:
PS: the select flair button doesnt work. Can someone label it as "Buying help"? [link] [comments]
college student looking for laptop under $500 Posted: 02 Apr 2020 02:21 PM PDT Most important things are a good display and can run packet tracer, Microsoft word with no problem, SSD Other than that I mostly use it for YouTube and Netflix I'm willing to go up a bit if needed to! Posted: 02 Apr 2020 02:03 PM PDT One thing that I've noticed since installing an hdd in my laptop is that my gpu decreases about 1000 points in Time Spy. Is this normal? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Apr 2020 01:52 PM PDT Now that school has been shutdown for the remainder of the year my 8 year old needs a half decent laptop to do school stuff. My budget is 300 dollars. She will be using webcam some and normal internet stuff. No games. Also would like the laptop to be windows based. [link] [comments]
Dell xps 13 9300 or HP Spectre 13 x360 2020 Posted: 02 Apr 2020 01:04 PM PDT I am between these two laptops. Both have the same 2000 euro price. Both have the same 10th gen CPU. Both have iris plus graphics. 16 gb ram. 512 gb SSD. The only difference is that the HP is a 2 in 1 . And has an Amoled 4k Screen which looks prettier. For me their differences are not enough to put one above the other. What will make the difference for me will be quality control overall.i don't want returning it over and over again until i get a good one . I will mainly use this laptop for writing on word. Browsing the internet with chrome. Maybe a bit of netflix. So which laptop would you say is better quality wise? Also which one has the better keyboard? [link] [comments]
Is there any software that allows you reduce the area of a laptop touchpad? Posted: 02 Apr 2020 09:10 AM PDT On my laptop, the mouse buttons are integrated into the touchpad. The click area is part of the touch pad, and is therefore also sensitive to movement. Annoyingly, that means that when I click, it also moves the mouse a tiny bit, often causing me to click the wrong thing. The only way to stop this from happening is to reduce my touchpad sensitivity so low that it becomes useless. My old laptop had a similar thing - except the touchpad had advanced settings where you could reduce the tracking area of the touchpad, and disable the bottom half of the touchpad where the mouse buttons are. I assumed my new laptop would have that option. It doesn't. I just spent most of my money on a laptop with a touchpad that infuriates me. Is there any third party software I can install that allows me to customise my touchpad settings more specifically, allows me to reduce the area of the touchpad. I know there are things such as touchpadblocker which disables the touchpad while typing, and was wondering if there was a similar tool. [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Apr 2020 12:43 PM PDT I own a 2017 Nitro V an515-51-56U0 that supports & runs Acer coolboost. However I have noticed that the 2018 onward coolboost has been replaced by Nitrosense, I'm curious if it's possible to modify the .ini,.config, & .dll folders to port Nitrosense for the 2017? The issue being that coolboost doesn't have any fan control beyond on-off nor does it have the monitoring capability of Nitrosense. [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Apr 2020 12:24 PM PDT Right now, I have a Asus q406d Notebook Laptop... It came with Windows 10 (64-bit), AMD Ryzen 5 3500U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx, 8.0GB RAM, and AMD Radeon Vega 8 Graphics card. I was wondering how I could upgrade, if that is possible? I want to build a desk top one day, but I can not afford to do that right now so I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade my laptop as a starter project. I am a executive assistant for a cannabis consulting company so it can handle most of the things I do for that job, but I am interested in videography plus a few other things that require more from my laptop. I really just don't want to try and overload my laptop with more than it can handle [link] [comments]
MSI GE66 vs. GS66 — Which to choose? Posted: 02 Apr 2020 12:02 PM PDT Laptop gamers — if you were to pick one of these two, which one would you go for? Previously it was pretty easy to decide between the Raider & Stealth; one was a larger, less premium model with poor battery life but had more headroom because of it's bulk — the other was a sleek and slim model with a large battery but some compromise on performance as it has less room inside the chassis. Now it seems as if these two are damn near identical; the GE66 has slimmed down and now has premium build quality and a much larger battery, and the GS66 has a much better cooling system and will greatly benefit from the major improvements done to the Max-Q design. Which would you choose and why? [link] [comments]

Yoga c940 any good for CAD and some games? Posted: 02 Apr 2020 10:48 AM PDT I'm an engineering student that graduates next year looking to get a Windows laptop to replace my 2015 13" MacBook pro because all of the programs I need for school hate Mac os. I've been looking at the Lenovo yoga c940 15.6" with 16GB ram and the 9th gen i7 and a GTX 1650 card (although I'm not sure if it's the max q or not). I'm not very familiar with Lenovo and haven't been able to find consistent information on whether they're reliable laptops. Would this be a good choice for CAD work (Catia, 3dx, vericut, etc.) Also would games like modern warfare warzone be playable? I'd love to hear what current c940 owners think or if there are any other 2-in-1's that would be better for the same price (~1700). Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Apr 2020 06:30 AM PDT Hey, guys, I have a laptop that's 4 months old now and it has a i7 9750H and an RTX 2060 gpu but I am having problems where my game just stutters and goes back to normal when there is an intense scene. ( I play overwatch on LOW settings already for more frames ) For example, I was playing Overwatch and suddenly has that split second lag/stutter and goes back to normal. This also happens to other games. All of my drivers are updated and tried to set my performance to Max but still, it's stuttering. I have my laptop undervolted as well to a -150mv. Any ideas? Just bought a Razer 15 Mid 2019... Posted: 02 Apr 2020 06:11 AM PDT So around March 30th or so, I was able I snag an amazing deal for the Razer 15, I7-9750h RTX 2080 Max-Q variant (240hz display) for a clean $2,000 with free shipping. Today, Razer announced their new SUPER lineup with 10th gen CPUs and SUPER graphics cards. The only caveat, is that if I wanted a brand new SUPER laptop (and 300hz wtf) that is similarly specked out, I would have to pay around that $3,000 dollar mark. Would it be worth it to return this laptop back and spend the extra grand for a newer model? Thanks! [link] [comments]

General question about performance issues is this the right subreddit? Posted: 02 Apr 2020 08:59 AM PDT My lap top (Lenovo ideapad 700) was running bannerlord 2 (video game) perfectly fine on very low settings and all of the sudden it started limiting my gpu performance and the game became unplayable. I have pictures but I wanted to make sure it was ok to post it here I know nothing about computers. [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Apr 2020 08:54 AM PDT The laptop says it has 4gb SDRAM DDR4 at 2400mhz so I'm just wondering if a standard DDR4 SODIMM of the same speed would be compatible? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Apr 2020 08:45 AM PDT Hi, I'm looking to buy a new laptop and would need to run Revit. I don't know much about technology and the RAM, storage, etc. Is this good? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WZ81CM9/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_i_TEGHEbZH1MPEG [link] [comments]
