What features or specs are you still waiting for before you upgrade your phone? Posted: 01 Apr 2020 05:08 PM PDT I have a list of requirements for both my PC and my phones. If the specs match this or reach this, I will consider upgrading from my current device. I opened that list today and I realized that most of the flagship phones nowadays match pretty much every requirement I have. It's very simple:
There are couple of things that match, for example, I don't want a curved screen. I hate them, and I think it's a terrible trend that Samsung started. Not many phones still have L1+L2 GNSS. But I do wonder how much difference does it actually make? But the biggest one for me is the camera. While the big sensor race has finally started, there really is not a single phone of the camera very obviously beats my OG Pixel. There are better camera phones, no doubt, but they are marginally better and with the custom GCam I can take some incredible pictures still, with this old phone. So camera is pretty much the only thing still holding me back from upgrading. I would disregard the curved screen and the GNSS, but the camera has to be good. Do you have a similar list? How far away is the industry from matching what you require for an upgrade? [link] [comments]

Does anyone remember lineageOS's update on april 1st a few years ago? Posted: 01 Apr 2020 12:47 PM PDT Do you remember when lineageOS decided to prank some people amd release an OTA april 1st? It happened to brick people's phones and they got a lot of negative press and feedback. Just thought it would be funny to reflect on that moment and give users a warning if something similar will happen today. [link] [comments]
New Update for Lenovo Yoga Table 2 Pro 1380F, unbelievable (still Android 5.01) Posted: 01 Apr 2020 07:28 AM PDT Today on aprilfools, i got a new update for my beloved and hated Yoga Tablet 2 pro 1380f, but sadly no patchnotes, i think it updated the kernel. For a piece of hardware, that almost was dead due to no software updates (still stuck on Android 5.0.1), it was a miracle to me. Are there any Tablet 2 Pro owners still out there? OnePlus 7 pro android 10 stutter fix Posted: 31 Mar 2020 11:26 PM PDT Ever since the android 10 update, OP7 pro has had micro-stutters all over the place. This is particularly apparent in the recent apps screen or any place where there is some animation + scrolling. I tried the open beta releases as well as the stable releases and even factory reset the phone multiple times to no avail. The phone would run perfectly smooth 99% of the time but that 1% of stutter was really irking me, especially because a major selling point of the phone is smoothness. And it's not just me, as I've spoken to many others who are reporting the same. The issue: What's happening is that OP7 pro comes with multiple settings for resolution and refresh rate. By default, the resolution is set to auto shift between 1080p and 1440p. And by default the refresh rate is set to auto shift between 60 and 90Hz. Both of these depend on the app in focus and the content in front of you. Now, in some places they clash and shift too often (like the recents screen) which creates frame drops and judder. They probably programmed the resolution switch and refresh rate switch independently and tested so as well. The fix: Set the resolution to a fixed value: 1080p or 1440p. I prefer 1080p since for 1440p PenTile, 1080p doesn't look much worse than 1440p (it's a huge PenTile subpixel rendering argument). Immediately, all the stutter will be gone and the phone will be smooth as butter just like on android 9.0. Plus setting to 1080p gets you some additional battery life. If you're experiencing similar issues on your phone, I hope it helps out you too. [link] [comments] |
