Mi A3 tipping point for Xiaomi? Posted: 02 Mar 2020 04:34 AM PST This could be the tipping point for Xiaomi and their Android One phones. They have been negligent with their Android One updates. Mi A1 first OS update was awful. Mi A2 update to Android 9 last year was brutal, it was eventually pulled and fixed some of the bugs. It's Android 10 update is also full of bugs. Mi A2 Lite still stuck on Android 9. Mi A3 update to Android 10 was really late coming out and is full of bugs and it's been pulled. It also got lots of media attention. I'm hoping this is a tipping point for Xiaomi. They either will stop their Android One phones or be forced to actually give it the attention it deserves. What do you all think? [link] [comments]

Screen time but, all apps are locked. Posted: 02 Mar 2020 05:15 PM PST When I exceeded the time limit for 1 app on my Redmi Note 5, it locked all of the apps on my phone. Even after I disabled screen time, the apps remain locked and I have to manually open each app to get them functioning again. Has anyone else encountered this problem? [link] [comments]
My Redmi 8 is locked and Xiaomi won't help Posted: 02 Mar 2020 04:30 PM PST Two months ago, I purchased a Xiaomi Redmi 8 from a local store, here, in Greece. The device was originally given to my brother who has been using it for about a month or so. He knows nothing about tech in general and I was not with him when he set up his phone, so he created a new gmail and mi account on his own. A few days ago, he was given another device that he is more familiar with, so he decided to switch to it and give the Redmi 8 to my other brother. Before handing it to him, he told me to create a backup of his photos and perform a hard reset on it in order to wipe everything in the device. I did so, but when rebooting the device after the hard reset, I came across a message telling me that the device is locked and that I need to log in using my old mi account in order to unlock it. Well, you may have already understood what the problem is. He doesn't know the password to neither his mi nor his gmail account and he didn't even add his phone number as a password reset backup so there is no way for me to unlock it using that way. I searched about it and found out that I had to contact xiaomi global in order to sort this issue out so that's exactly what I did (I tried contacting Xiaomi Greece first but they told me that they couldn't help and that I had to send an email to Xiaomi Global). I sent an email to Xiaomi describing my issue in detail. In the email I also included everything that proved that I am the original owner of the device, because I understand that without proof they wouldn't be able to do anything. So I included: - A photo of the locked device with me holding it - A photo of the device's box with me holding it - A photo of the IMEI numbers written on the box and on a sticker that came with the device, which I also included as text (in written form) in the email's body - A photo of the official receipt that I received from the store upon purchase - The email that my brother used for the mi account he created (he managed to remember the email but not the password) After four days of communication, switching to different case managers and with me describing my problem again and again, their final answer was that they simply can't do anything about it, because of privacy concerns. Keep in mind that I don't want to recover my brother's old mi account, I don't care about it, he doesn't care either. What I'm asking for is to have my legally purchased device unlocked, by either completely removing the mi account that is associated with it or switching it with a mi account that he actually knows the password for. Me and my brothers have been Xiaomi supporters for years (started from Xiaomi Redmi 3 and being an owner of Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 as of now) and never had I expected such a response. I read about similar cases online, that got sorted out without even providing a receipt of the purchase and my case is somehow related to privacy issues and cannot be solved, so I'm left with a totally useless device that I paid 120€ for. MIUI 11.0.8.0 Upgrade OTA for MI 9 Global Posted: 02 Mar 2020 01:43 PM PST As on the subject, MI 9 Global received the MIUI 11.0.8.0 for MI 9 Global. Bug fixes, themes app and January security patch. Like I've noticed on my MI 9 lite, it's pretty smooth! I'll see what it changes more... [link] [comments]

Mi 9T and Mi 9 is out of stock? Posted: 02 Mar 2020 08:42 AM PST Hey, I still keep waiting until May or June this year to buy a new phone. I was ready to buy Mi 9T 128GB version in black but this week I noticed something strange. Most major but also smaller online stores in Czech republic got completely rid off Mi 9T and Mi 9 listings. I thought they might be just out of stock but the thing is I can't even find the listing. Some retailers keep only one model like Mi 9T Pro in red or Mi 9 256GB variant alive. I'm just asking if you noticed the same thing with online retailers in your country. I'm not sure if Xiaomi discontinued these two phones (Mi 9T is still quite new, right?) or it might be just an outage because of Coronavirus.. Thanks for any answer. [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Mar 2020 09:54 AM PST So I am not sure if Amazfit/Huami is considered as a sub product of Xiaomi/Mi family but I suppose so. My Amazfit was very good at detecting the heartbeat but sometimes I realized not so much. Mostly during activities. I activated the auto detection of heartbeat, looks better, but we always get the warning the either it will reduce the battery lifespan or autonomy. Well autonomy I don't really mind, but lifespan... One include the other I guess, it just has I don't know how many charging cycles before it dies. If by chance someone can confirm that, tried or got the watch aswell. It's the 47 mm.
