Would this be good for strictly school use ? And maybe holding some photos ? Or should I save up more for the $400 that comes with a ryzen 5 ? I’m fine with the ryzen 3 if it isn’t slow to do homework and surf the web. Thank you

Looking for a good 2-1 laptop for my business and leisure. Please help me:)

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 03:05 PM PST

Hi, I'm in the market for a 2-1 laptop that could give me these things

    • Pen SUPPORT (Would prefer wacom support but hey.)
    • Should run Photoshop pretty well (I'm a photographer)
    • Need some light gaming. I mostly play RTS games and city building games. BIG PLUS if it has dedicated graphics yes please
    • Have some kind up upgradability (RAM, Storage etc) *NOT NECESSARILY BUT WOULD BE NICE

In short I want to use it as my secondary work station for my photography business, since I already have a beefy gaming PC at home.

    Please help me reddit.

Have looked at some Yoga convertibles and the surface line-up, but the lack of fast USB C in the surfaces and no dedicated grapichs in the Yogas (not what I have found).

    Budget up to $1,500

Stylus can be bought at a later stage.

    Laptop for Teacher

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 01:30 PM PST

Looking for a new laptop. I'm a high school science teacher and I currently have a Surface 3, but it's on its way out. I love teaching from my surface because I can connect wirelessly to the projector and I can annotate slides directly on the surface instead of standing at the front of the room. I am strongly considering getting a Surface Pro 7, but would also consider getting a different laptop and an iPad to supplement (I've gotten too used to teaching from a tablet). Thanks so much for any advice!!

Which of these 3 laptops is the best?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 01:12 PM PST

    1) Huawei MateBook D R5 8GB 256GB

    2) Acer Aspire 3 15.6" A315-55G-75SM

    3) HP Pavilion 15-bc403no

I'm looking for a new laptop for studying, and some gaming on the side. I love the look of the MateBook, but I fear it has much worse performance than the other two. Am I wrong in thinking this?

I'd basically like to have a windows equivalent to a macbook, with high performance so that I can play Classic WoW, Albion Online, and games like that. But if the MateBook isn't good enough for any gaming, is the HP Pavilion alright in that regard?

Acer Predator Helios 300 (2019) screen issue

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 12:42 PM PST

Recently I purchased Acer Predator Helios 300 (2019) and I noticed that the screen has some issues. On the bottom left and right sides it has two small vertical lines that glow in white. It glows even in the BIOS and when the Windows load. They are most noticeable in white screen. It has some backlight bleed as well. For me personally, that doesn't bother me at all. I'm worried about the white vertical lines, will they become more in the future? What do you think about the screen should I return this laptop or keep it, is the backlight bleed too much?

Don't know the problem with my laptop?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 11:56 AM PST

So, few months back some shake fell in my bag and went into the charging port of my laptop. Now my laptops battery is used up and at zero and only works with the charger on. If I take the charger out, the laptop shuts down completely. It doesn't charge at all. What can be the problem?

High RAM utilization out of the box 2029 MacBook Pro 6.5/16GB

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 11:27 AM PST

This seems like super high RAM utilization especially since this is straight out of the box with no programs open other than activity monitor.

From the looks of it there's just tons of little programs running in the background. If I use over 33% at idle I wonder if I should have gotten a 32GB option. This utilization percentage just seems way too high.

Advice on Laptops. Budget is $800-1500+ USA

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 10:59 AM PST

My 2015 MacBook Pro is starting to show it's age, and I don't want to repair it, I would rather get a new laptop. I have had HP laptops in the past as well as Macs, [although some of my HPs had problems after a couple years]. I am open to other brands.

I basically use my laptop now for Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, browsing, and I stream a lot of videos from Netflix, etc.

I have been looking at the Microsoft Surface 3 Laptop, but I have come across some reviews saying that it has some problems, so I am sort of reluctant to take that dive [unless someone can tell me about it more].

    Any suggestions welcomed.

    Thank you

    Help me choose a laptop!

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 06:10 AM PST

    Hi there guys,

I'll keep it simple, I need a laptop.

I've narrowed it down to 3 models (sort of), each from different brands:

    DELL G3 15"

    LENOVO Legion Y540

MSI GL/GP (not sure yet) 15"

I'm planning on gaming moderately, but I also plan on programming again, Python/javascript/apps/.., we'll see where it goes. So 8 or 16gB RAM?

My old laptop was a DELL XPS 15 which I loved a lot, good keyboard, mousepad (with the 2 buttons, very important) and wants to go in retirement soon (after almost 8 years of service). So it has to survive a long time.

Could you guys give me some pointers?

    Thanks in advance

    MSI GS63 used price

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 09:24 AM PST

I have an MSI GS63 7RD that I am thinking of selling as I would prefer something lighter and smaller for on campus but I don't really know what I could get/what I should be asking for it. Specs are: I7-7700HQ, GTX 1050 2gb, 500gb SSD, 1tb HDD. *BUT* the wifi is not working and it needs a USB adapter to connect. Everything else works perfectly, runs DOOM, titanfall, battlefield 1 all at 60fps on medium settings. Machine is 2 years old, screen is in perfect condition and it has been kept clean.

    Laptop Recommendations

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 08:39 AM PST

    Hi all,

I am looking for a laptop in the $700 range that can comfortably support solid modeling softwares (Creo, Solidworks, etc.). I would like it to have a 3.0 Ghz processor and I would really love it if the battery would last 6+ hours after a couple of years of using it. My old HP's battery lasted less than 1.5 hrs evetho it used to last 7 hours when I bought it.

Looking for a laptop for school

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 08:26 AM PST

I need a laptop for school but also can't just go out and buy a fancy new MacBook Pro XXL + (or what ever they're calling it). I will solely use it for school work (word, Chrome, circuit wizard). I don't need any crazy graphics card as I won't be playing any games on it. I presume I will need 8gb of RAM to do all this so I guess that's a must. Also I already have an external hard drive so I don't need much space at all.

My budget is about £250-300 and any help finding one will be very much appreciated. I am asking here because it is impossible to find any cheap laptops that are also cheap in the UK! I wish I lived in the US!

Need help finding a good laptop

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 08:21 AM PST

    Budget is 700-900 USD.

I like the design of Macbooks, but I don't like mac. It has to be windows. I'd like it to be thin and aluminum if possible, same look as macbook basically.

It's mostly for studies, but I'd like to play a handful of games on it as well and the screen be large enough for games/movies.

    Any help is appreciated!
