Posted: 29 Jan 2020 04:04 AM PST Hey everyone could you suggest me a laptop for gaming? All I care about is performance and that's it I don't care about the track pad or the keyboard since i have a external keyboard and a mice (obv) Also don't care about thickness and weight. I would buy a desktop only if i had space but I don't. things i'm looking for: Good I/O, a RTX card which will benefit me for things like rendering good display and a good CPU. [link] [comments] |

At least 13 inches, but would prefer something larger Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. 13/14/15" Windows/Chromebook less than £250 for notetaking as a job Posted: 29 Jan 2020 01:22 AM PST London Around £150-200 in an ideal world I don't really want a tablet as I would prefer a full sized laptop keyboard (as an audio typist who is used to this format). I don't need an external mouse or keyboard Standard 8 hours battery would do, I will likely have access to a charger when using it I would like a new windows laptop or chromebook and will use it purely to take notes (in university lectures/seminars/classes) in Microsoft Word (I may very occasionally use Excel and PowerPoint) as well as Google Chrome, Docs, Gmail, etc., with light internet use. No gaming or streaming/watching HD videos. Lightweight and thin would be nice but not 100% essential Help me out, please! I need one ASAP. I have Amazon Prime (I also have access to 10% discount at Tesco). Thank you in advance [link] [comments] |
Lenovo Ideapad L340 or Dell Gaming Laptop G3579?? Maybe A different suggestion? Posted: 29 Jan 2020 01:13 AM PST *My budget is $700* So, I am currently a uni student. I need a new laptop current one is dying on me. So I was thinking of getting this laptop since it has the specs I want NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 (doesn't actually have to be 1650, but it's just nice to have a good gpu, I guess) and 512 SSD (must have). I thought for around its price that it was very good ~$700. If anyone has any opinions on a better one potentially cheaper? I also appreciate its design, it doesn't stand out as GAMER AESTHETIC you know. I want to be able to take it out in class/public and not be seen as "One of those". Nothing wrong with them, I just don't want that on me. I will mostly be using this for homework and such, but will occasionally want to play games. Mostly just using it for school work when I have free time at school. This is the link to the product.https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Ideapad-i5-9300H-Processor-81LK00HDUS/dp/B07VC55LF5/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=lenovo+ideapad+l340&qid=1580287927&s=electronics&sr=1-3 Was also thinking of the dell laptop. Thank you for any help. [link] [comments] |
Non-Windows (ultra) light Laptop mostly for writing - 400-1000 Posted: 29 Jan 2020 01:13 AM PST Hi,I am looking for a laptop, which I will use mostly for writing and surfing.I've been burning through two mediocre laptops the last two years, a Acer R13 Chromebook, and currently a Hyundai Thinnote 13 which I run Ubuntu on.My issue is both of those where kind of to slow for me, as they would start to produce problems when too many tabs in my chrome browser were open. So I'm looking to invest maybe a bit more this time, and get a product that can handle hardcore multitask surfing.I despise Windows, but I am open to a Chromebook, anything I can run Linux on, or possibly even a Macbook (never had one before). It shouldn't be much higher then 1.5kg/3.28lb, I am used to 13 inch display, but I am open to suggestions to everything people still deem feasible for traveling.Price-wise I am willing to go to 600, cheaper is okay, more also, if there's a good argument for it. **Total budget and country of purchase:** Germany 400-1000 * **Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.** battery life * **How important is weight and thinness to you?** very important * **Which OS do you require? I am simply looking for the best specs for the money that also meet the above requirements. Doesn't matter if it ends up looking like a gaming laptop or not, just want the best specs possible. Ultrabook for uni with moderately high usage (~£1500-1600 max) Posted: 29 Jan 2020 03:34 AM PST Total budget and country of purchase: £1500-1600 max Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. My priority is my laptop performing well as well as being a smaller form factor. I'd ideally like good battery life, and a 2 in 1 form factor is a "nice to have" feature but not a priority. How important is weight and thinness to you? Ideally the laptop should be thin and fairly light. Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. I'd much prefer Windows, although MacOS and Linux are options as well Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. Ideally 13.3-14", although if there's a particularly good deal that ticks every box and isn't huge I'd be willing to go up to 15.6" at a stretch, but as close to 13.3-14" as possible. Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Yes, often some photo editing (Affinity Photo/Designer) and video editing (Vegas Pro 15 and Hitfilm Pro 14), as well as some gaming/emulation (particularly Wii/GameCube emulation). If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Any settings tend to be fine as long as it is at least not too noticeably bad (unless the game is very intensive like Shadow of the Tomb Raider). Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Ideally a fingerprint reader, good build quality and at least alright keyboard, touch screen is another "nice to have" feature but not a necessity. Preferably a glass trackpaf but not a big deal. Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. If possible I'd like to have thunderbolt connectivity if possible, as well as 16GB of RAM/1TB of NVMe storage, but with the latter two if they are upgradeable I am happy to have lower (e.g. 8GB and 512GB). 700$ laptop for casual gaming and school Posted: 28 Jan 2020 11:07 PM PST I'm a student looking for a laptop under 700$ that can run modern games comfortably (60-ish fps at medium settings or 30 fps at high is acceptable to me) and has an average/good battery life. I've narrowed down my options to the Lenovo Ideapad L340 and the Asus FX505DT but can't decide between the two. Personally I prefer the Ideapad because of the non-gamer look and the i5. Asus: Lenovo: Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 28 Jan 2020 11:52 AM PST Looking to grab a laptop last second as my last one died on me. Normally I'd spend a bit of time researching and find my best options myself but I'm quite busy with classes right now and need to get a new laptop ASAP for my CS classes. I'll primarily be using it for coding / programming as well as various other schoolwork but would like something I can game on a little bit also. I'd like a SSD with preferably 500gb+ of space. I don't want something so huge it'll be a pain to fit into my bag and lug around campus but I'd like something that's a pretty good size. Around $600 would be preferable but I'd be willing to go up around $700 if needed. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Jan 2020 02:08 AM PST Hey guys, I can buy a aleinware r3 with a 128ssd, 1tb hardrive, 12gb of ram, i7-6700hq and a gtx 970m for $400. Is that a good deal? [link] [comments] |
13”-15” thin everyday/gaming laptop Posted: 28 Jan 2020 10:08 PM PST Hey so I know this is kind of vague but I'm way more familiar with desktop related stuff so I figured here's my best option. My budget can range from $1200 to around $1600 but it's not exactly strict, so if it goes a hundred or two above that's fine. I would like mainly black or a dark grayish color, thin and sleek. I hate the cliche "gamer" style lol so basically just not that please. Backlit or maybe even RGB with a clean font keyboard would be appreciated. I'd mainly be doing pretty light Photoshop and Premiere work but I don't think a laptop at this price range will struggle much with that since it's pretty minimal; my desktop GTX 1070 5-1700x desktop excels at what I need if that gives you any guidance. Also, I'd probably be doing some CS:GO and Fortnite on mostly low settings and then maybe the rare stream or recording at 1080p 60fps. I'd really like at least 120hz, preferably 144hz. 1080p is fine but I guess 1440p would be sick to finally try out if you think it's worth it. Aspect ratio isn't too big of a deal but I kinda dig 19:10. This isn't a top priority but two or more USB slots and maybe dual thunderbolt would be nice. Touch isn't really a big deal at all for me. Screen size is basically up to you lol Thanks in advance! EDIT: Forgot about storage. Ideally I'd like at least 500gb SSD :) [link] [comments] |

approx 2000 EUR/USD, Europe
Good Battery Life and/or Good IPS Screen
I couldn't care less of weight and thickness, but I dislike huge bezels
Windows
13 to 15 .6 inch compact (not with huge bezels or wasted space)
Hobby Photo Editing, doesn't need to be 100% color accurate
Fallout 4 60 fps medium to ultra
Reliable build quality, no soldered storage, I hate plastic creaks and mushy keyboard and lid.
I need to be able to charge using a 100w usb-c charger, I would love to even be able to do light gaming (2d) while on that charger. [link] [comments] |
