Posted: 12 Dec 2019 04:54 PM PST I have a gaming PC, GTX 1060 graphics card. Everytime I update the graphics card or go on battle.net to play games my Microsoft based apps resize windows and go all over. Apps like Edge, Mail, and calendar appear all over screens. Does anyone get this issue and do you have a fix. [link] [comments]
Laptop acting weird after installing Win10 Posted: 12 Dec 2019 07:10 PM PST Hi, TLDR - after installing Win10 (clean install over Win8.1), the laptop seems to boot up randomly when it should be in sleep mode (lid shut), and remains on until it's run itself dry (battery dead). Can you help? I recently installed a fresh copy of Win10 on my old laptop (replacing Win8.1). I've noticed that my battery seems to by depleting super fast while the laptop is on sleep mode (lid shut). Like, I'll have a 90% battery, close the lid to go to bed, and when I wake up the next day the thing is just completely dead. On Win8.1 the battery life was still really solid. Then, the other night I woke up in the middle of the night for something, and just then I heard the laptop actually turn on. I heard the HDD spin up and the normal sounds it makes. I open the lid, and sure enough, it's waiting for me to put my password in. So I close the lid and go back to sleep, check it in the morning and the battery is all good. So basically, it looks like the machine will randomly boot up while in sleep mode, and I guess then it just stays on until it's run itself dry? Can anyone explain what's going on here? Is there a setting I can change to stop it turning on seemingly at random? Thanks all for your time! [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Dec 2019 04:57 PM PST This is probably going to be a little hard to explain but it's really bothering me so I'm gonna give it a go. I recently got a new laptop (HP pavilion something something) and the mousepad for it is amazing, speaking as someone who had been struggling with an unresponsive old Lenovo laptop with an equally unresponsive mousepad for two years beforehand. However, now this mousepad seems to be acting up in that when I scroll with it, the screen scrolls in fits and starts and jumps. When I scroll down on a page, there's a second of delay before it quickly jumps to the lower spot on the page and it's extremely disorienting. It feels a lot like my previous laptop's mousepad feel and I have no idea what brought it on. I have tried increasing the sensitivity and have also messed around in the mouse settings to figure out what's going on but to no avail. Anyone have any ideas here? I've only had this laptop for about 5 days and I've been treating it like a baby as well, so I'm stumped on this end. [link] [comments]
Microsoft Store Games Kill My Internet Posted: 12 Dec 2019 03:41 PM PST As title implies, games through the Microsoft Store run down my internet. Now, I don't have great internet, but it always runs well enough for multiple people to be online at once. I can play games and watch videos on my other screen while one person is watching Netflix and someone else is also online. Now, yesterday I decided to install Minecraft Windows 10 Edition because I already had it through my Xbox, I have Java Edition but felt like playing Windows 10 Edition. Everything was fine while I was looking in the Marketplace, changing my settings, getting everything right. But as soon as I started playing the game, even in Singleplayer, our internet just died. My videos started buffering every 5 seconds, my brother started lagging like all hell on what they were playing, and it was just in general like we were living off of McDonalds wifi. So, I gotta know, is there any way I can fix this? My brother suspects it's something to do with the Microsoft Store having a higher download rate than anything else, so it just sucks up everything else and ruins our internet. [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Dec 2019 06:33 AM PST here is a quick video of my issue, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kb8ED_SCwaA when playing a game my screen loses connecton and regains it back instantly, very annoying when playing competitive games like CSGO, or rainbow six siege, or a good story driven game. i know its windows and not my graphics card, monitor or cable because i have tried different display port cables and the same thing happens with my second PC that has a totally different graphics card, cable and monitor but the same version of windows, i have tried rolling back drivers about a year and no luck. SetWindowsHookEx -Issue Intercepting\Blocking Mouse Movement in Game! Posted: 12 Dec 2019 04:18 PM PST Hi guys, Here is the thing: I defined a "P" shortcut\hotkey to move mouse to a specific x y coord, so, when "P" key is pressed in game, the game's camera moves (if in game's menu the mouse cursor moves)! Now the problem is, I use "SetWindowsHookEx" to intercept\block mouse movement, so, when "P" key is pressed, the mouse cursor in game's menu does not move because it is intercepted\blocked, but if not in menu "P" key can still move the game's camera (which would mean that mouse is not intercepted\blocked?)! My question is, if "P" shortcut\hotkey can move game's camera, so it would mean that the game controls camera not based on mouse DirectInput but based on something else? What would be this "something else" and how could it be intercepted\blocked in order to prevent game's camera to be moved? [link] [comments]
Need Help to fix Windows Update Error 0x800700c1 Posted: 12 Dec 2019 04:02 PM PST So, I am on version 1903, but I did see updates for 1903 and an optional update for 1909. I tried to install both, but they fail. The error says, There were problems installing some updates, but we'll try again later. I tried running the troubleshooter, but it did not find any solutions. I tried sfc scannow and the dism command and both came up with an error too. Anyone else with this problem? [link] [comments]
Segurazo antivirus is not safe Posted: 12 Dec 2019 07:25 PM PST If you are having issues with high allocation of RAM or high CPU usage. Check task manager. An application called Segurazo antivirus might be installed and allocating 30% of your RAM. It can also cause BSoDs randomly. It is Malware and is not safe. Remove Segurazo antivirus immediately. It will not be recognized by Windows Defender because it is titled as an Antivirus. If you want to remove this here are the steps
Check task manager again. Your RAM or CPU allocation might have went down (maybe both.) my CPU was originally at 100% usage and has lowered between 10-60% My RAM has also been lowered from 94% to between 60-90% (running a lot of applications on 8 GB of RAM). [link] [comments]

Windows 10 suddenly very slow, can't even play YouTube videos without stopping every 3 seconds Posted: 12 Dec 2019 05:32 AM PST Does anyone know what could cause this? I have a i5, 8Gb RAM, GT 650M with an 240 SSD. Everything was fine, I have 50+ Gb of free space, and I was playing Lost Ark (Installed in my SSD), and after a few days, in the middle of the day (yesterday), my PC start slowing it down. Edit File History config1.xml and config2.xml Files Directly Posted: 12 Dec 2019 02:47 PM PST I'd like to make some changes to the File History config1.xml and config2.xml files to "clean" things up a little ... like sort included folders alphabetically, etc. However, if I edit these four files directly (there are two of each) they revert back to their default values as soon as File History runs. Anyone know if it's possible to edit these files directly and have the values stay? Where does File History get the default values from ... maybe I can edit the default values (possibly in the registry) instead of editing the xml configuration files. [link] [comments]
Windows 10 1903 - installed today - can't print Posted: 12 Dec 2019 02:12 PM PST I provide the I.T. support for a small office. Nothing fancy there, 5 desktops. No servers or managed environment. A Lenovo Think Centre desktop (purchased in 2016, but I believe dates back on 2014 spec wise) running Windows 10 Pro got the 1903 feature update today. The accountant called me in and said -- can't print. Was just printing yesterday. There is a locally connected Brother HL-L2360DW and also 2 networked HP's. Brother is the primary printer. I cannot print Word documents or PDFs to any of them. I cannot print from Chrome. The document never even reaches the print queue. Word and Adobe Acrobat give some kind of error like can't print or can't find the printer. Here is what I have tried -Starting and stopping the print spooler in services -Removing and re-adding the driver from Settings / Devices / Services. One weird thing that was happening was that when I went to that section in settings -- it seemed like it kept downloading software for one of the HP printers -I also downloaded the full driver pack from Brother's website - and installed it as a USB printer. I still couldn't print -After 1903 installed -- Windows also subsequently installed the Dec 2019 1903 Win 10 cumulative update. I tried uninstalling this update -- and it did not work. I am aware of printing failures that came with an early October win 10 cumulative update, which was later fixed. I would think that the Dec cumulative update would contain these fixes. The accountant of the office is so pissed because she prints a lot. I feel kind of stuck on finding a solution now. would appreciate your advice. [link] [comments]
Moved my Windows install to another computer for a few minutes and it is now deactivated Posted: 12 Dec 2019 05:04 PM PST I've had the same Windows install for about seven years now. One of my other (linux) computers needed a BIOS upgrade, and I saw that there was an easy tool in Windows to do this, so I moved my SSD with Windows on it to that computer to do so, and then moved it back. Ever since then, Windows is saying there was a hardware change and it is now deactivated. There was a hardware change, but it was just for a few minutes! I'm assuming there is no leniency on this, but I wasn't sure if there was anyway for Windows to see that it is back to the original hardware it was installed on. [link] [comments]
[HELP] Software update and now Win 7 Pro (64-bit) will not boot Posted: 12 Dec 2019 10:46 AM PST My wife tried to boot my PC yesterday morning and saw this. https://i.imgur.com/8cznjZJ.jpg I have made no hardware changes. All cables are original to the Corsair case which is only two years old. All cables to the hard drives are new, nothing re-used. My case is clean and totally free of dust. The only time that I've had boot issues was using sleep mode, which I stopped using after the PC failed to restore from sleep due a charge building up in the motherboard. This was the assessment according to my local IT shop. No boot issues since sleep mode was abandoned. I had a software update about a day or so ago, and after the reboot it took about 5-10 minutes for a window to load warning about the end of Win 7 support. I know about that! Anyways, I have used Webroot for years, so I'm confident that it's not a virus. I followed the onscreen directions accordingly:
In both cases, neither drive detected the Win 7 installation disc, so I was unable to get the repair screen. I know that both of the disc drives work because I have used both to rip and burn CDs. I tried another shut down and reboot (without the Win 7 installation disc in one of the drives) while tapping the F8 key, but was unable to get into safe mode and was returned to the same screen as in attached image. My company IT person has the following suggestions: "I would suggest trying to do a restore to previous version. You can start-up in recovery mode and there should be options there to restore to a previous working version. Not sure on your machine but as soon as you power it on, hit the ESC or DEL or F12 key. It is different depending on brand of your machine. That should get you into the BIOS which may offer you a recover option. It differs depending on make and model of your machine." I also have a friend who's pretty knowledgeable about this coming to my place tonight to help me, but I'm sure we would both appreciate any suggestions you might have. I have several 1 TB drives in the case are new but weren't hooked up, so I have spare drives ready. If this isn't the right forum for this post, I'd very much appreciate knowing where I should ask this question with the best chance of some helpful suggestions. Thanks very much! Posted: 12 Dec 2019 12:52 PM PST I always use 6/11 and acceleration of and my mouse is so fast. I always use 400 DPI on my mouse and the same settings in game. For example in PUBG I played with 400 DPI and 34 all, and now Im using 400 DPI and 25 and it still feels faster. I checked 2 mouses. I did clean reinstall of Windows and I have the same issue. I think it started after windows update. [link] [comments]
Windows keep rearranging when I sleep/ or turn off my monitors Posted: 12 Dec 2019 10:39 AM PST So I use many windows for my job and do not like to leave my computer open for privacy reasons but whenever I lock my desktop or turn off my monitors when I get back all my windows are all jumbled up and needing to be rearranged (which takes about 5 mins). Is there a program that can stop this or is it just something i'm going to have to live with? [link] [comments]
What features do you want for the future of Windows? Posted: 12 Dec 2019 10:38 AM PST I'm a concept creator (named theHacker34) and going to make a video about the future of Windows. Calling it 11 because it's a "CONCEPT". I would like to know what do you want for the future of Windows and also which features do you need in future updates ? Thanks :) PS: A little teaser for the video (not self promoting) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWVyooG6yrw [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Dec 2019 12:29 PM PST I'm currently running windows 10, my computer will randomly freeze up completely with no error. This happens during safe mode, sometimes while booting up. I'm thinking it must be hardware at this point, as I've done a complete reinstall and erase of windows and the issue returned while installing a game on steam. [link] [comments]
windows 10 version 1909 issues. Posted: 12 Dec 2019 09:51 AM PST This update refuses to install on my laptop. It will download, and say instillation pending. Or it will start installing but stop short around 80% Or it just flat out crashes. I've reset my laptop and gotten no progress still. Why wont this update install? I'm really getting sick of this. For the record, my laptop has had serious slowdown, and lag issues. Resetting it helped, but I still cant get this to update. Do I need a new laptop or something? [link] [comments]

Posted: 12 Dec 2019 08:07 AM PST Hope this is the correct sub for this. One of the few things that's stops me upgrading is the start menu. Is there a way in windows 10 to collect every program and put it in a folder on the start menu? I like to have everything in a folder. Can I completely uninstall the programs I don't need? I don't need Xbox or contacts etc. Can I delay updates until I want to update? I hate turning off the pc to it then being stuck for ages updating. I have one pc that needs to be on win7. But occasionally I need it to access the net. Is there a way I can limit its access to the net from my main pc. Cheers [link] [comments]
