I added a second stick of the exact same RAM model and added an SSD with a SATA ribbon cable I bought from eBay which is for this laptop model. I also cleaned the fans with pliers and blew on them to remove dust from inside. I disconnected the battery before doing these upgrades. After booting, I noticed an eerie silence. The fans will not spin now no matter what (I tested by opening a game for about half a minute, and CPU temp went up to 80, without fan engagement. I was scared to let temperature increase further). I thought something was perhaps short-circuiting so I have now disconnected the SSD and removed the extra RAM... only to make it worse, because now the motherboard is making a weird musical noise, which you can hear here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/31yeszb2l1lwpxw/beeping.mp3?dl=0 . It seems to be coming from both fans. I'm not sure if the lack of audio output began before or after the RAM reversal. I checked the cables and everything appears to be connected fine, including fan cables. BIOS is in its latest version, which it was already before I attempted the upgrades.
