Downloading Apps with Mi Pad 4

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 07:31 PM PST

    Good day everyone.

Recently I've had a bit of a problem with my Mi Pad 4. It's a vanilla Mi Pad 4 with Google Play Store installed.

So I recently bought Muse Dash and tried to install it, but after downloading everything, the play store said that the app can't be installed (no further information besides saying try again or troubleshoot).

The app installed perfectly fine on my Xiaomi Note 5 Global. After a bit of trying, I concluded that the problem comes from large apps and smaller apps are fine.

Solutions which I found online/have tried:

    • Check permissions for internal storage
    • Try again
    • Delete Cache/Data
    • Restart
    • Remove Account and login again
    • Uninstall Updates (I can't do this as it'll uninstall the play store instead)
    • Free space (5GB left)
    • Download through mobile (won't let me even after setting it in settings)
    • Disable MIUI optimization

I spent a some time on this and have gotten nowhere so I'm wondering if there's a way to get around this.

Redmi Note 8 - important things to do?

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 03:41 PM PST

    Hey there!

I just about ordered a Redmi Note 8 4/64 and am pretty excited to finally get my hands on a decent phone. But I read a lot about people using GCam mod for better pictures. That made me think, what kind of "first important steps" should I take, when I finally get my hands on this phone?

I already read a bit about GCam, debloating and rooting the phone, tough I'm not particularily tech savvy, so it would be great if you could describe what to do or redirect me to sources where I can read up on this and more practical stuff.

I used the search bar and googled a bit, but didn't find anything close to a "guide" for this sort of thing, so I apologize, if this kind of thread has already been made.

    Greetings, and thanks in advance!

    Applock not unlocking Issue

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 09:33 PM PST

Applock is not accepting my pattern even tho its correct. I mostly use apps that has the applock so a forgotten pattern is not an issue. Been using applock for more than a month

I tried rebooting multiple times and its still not accepting the applock pattern

Is there anyway I could remove the Applock? there are some importants apps on it and I don't want to reset my phone just because of this.

Happy with the SoT of my RN8PRO

So, it has been almost a month since I bought this phone. Really with satisfied with everything on this phone and I got what I paid for (price point), especially the battery on this phone. Take note: I came from samsung galaxy s6 which has a very shitty battery and I used that phone for almost 5 yrs, so, the battery has already worn and torn before I got this new phone. I need to charge my old phone at least twice a day and before I go to sleep, so every time I go out or go on vacation I always make sure that I bring it's oxygen tank (powerbank) so I can use it without worrying of draining my battery. That's why I'm really satisfied and happy with my SoT with this one.

[9T PRO MIUI 11] Auto brightness not working properly

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 06:09 AM PST

    Hi all.

I had set the auto-brightness 'on' but when I'm in dark environments I need to scroll down the brightness manually. It won't work as expected.

Anyone else is having the same problem? Any idea on how to solve it?

Is there a version of Google camera for the note 8 yet?

I know there's one but it doesn't support all the cameras as it's not specifically for the note 8

Note 8 Pro Vs mi 9t help me decide

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 05:27 PM PST

My phone (ZenFone max pro M1) took a swim in the ocean so I've an excuse to upgrade my phone.

Note 8 Pro looks perfect but I see complaints Netflix isn't running in full hd. Does anyone know if it's likely to be fixed? This is the biggest issue I have with the phone.

Mi9t that pop up selfie cam looks annoying but the screen is amoled and I'd like to have that... But no expandable memory is the biggest bugbear.

Of course I'm also weighing these against just getting the ZenFone max pro M2 which had the biggest battery, Netflix hd and stock Android but no fast charging although not really a deal breaker when you've a big battery anyway.

    Choices choices....

For some strange reason, the battery of my Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is lasting between 4 to 5 hours of 100 to 20%

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 01:24 PM PST

Before it lasted 6 hours and a few minutes, do you know what could be happening? Is there any way to extend the battery life?

Does MIUI not allow screen to rotate 180°?

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 10:45 AM PST

I love me a pop socket, and as such, have a pop socket phone holder in my car on the dashboard. Due to the placement of my pop socket, when I put my phone in the holder to navigate, it falls upside down. This was never a problem as every other phone I've had has roatated 180° when this happens. However, today was my first day navigating with my RN8 running MIUI, and I found that the screen only rotates 90°. Is there a hidden setting that would allow 180° rotation? Thanks in advance.

Can't log after hard reset, neither access Recovery Mode - REDMI 2

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 12:49 PM PST

hey guys! i decided to do a hard reset on my redmi 2 due to memory issues. so... i am stuck on the login scree, which says It is not possible to login (in my language), even if the password is correct.

I searched heaven and earth and i found this thing called Mi Account Unlock Tool which would be the beginning of my dreams, BUT this requires the phone to go on RECOVERY MODE, and mine just can't. after i do the "hold + volume and power" shenanigans, it shows a screen from where i can choose some options, the main ones - for this case - being recovery and fastboot mode. but as soon as i make a choice, it goes to a control panel where i can only wipe data and reboot.

i am very sad and regretting for thinking about doing this reset

UPDATE: So, i've found a flash tutorial on YouTube and managed to access the fastboot mode and run the adb and fastboot; right now i'm finishing the download of the custom ROM. it was a hell of a work, but i hope everything works. I'll update.

Can I go from MIUI 9 to MIUI 11 directly downloading ROM zip?

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 04:30 PM PST

I have a Redmi Note 5 AI with 9.6.4.0 and updater shows 10.3.1.0 Oreo, I know there's a 10.3.1.0 Pie, and then 11.0.3.0, can I download directly this and apply update? Or do I need to download 3 updates?? Limited data (: thanks.

about the K20 pro(or Xiaomi mi 9t pro) water resistance

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 01:29 PM PST

I can't determine whether the phone is splash-proof or not?

this guy put it underwater and nothing happened:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFBd7YyRBos

but these guys are saying that it is very prone to water damage, so much so that you should make phonecalls in the rain

    https://www.getdroidtips.com/are-xiaomi-redmi-k20-and-k20-pro-waterproof-device/

I can't get a definitive opinion so do u have any kind of info or maybe you bought the phone and u have personal info, if so please share

PS my current theory is that with the rear camera open it is susceptible to water damage and it is othewìrwise fine. this is based on this guy that took it apart and it found some sort of water resistance rubber, but I am just guessing

    MIUI 11 themes?

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 03:37 PM PST

So, after the updates for a lot of models have arrived, I dare to ask: are there any MIUI 11 themes that actually work and change the status bar, phone interface, etc? None seem to work for my RN7...
