Downloading android 12 to Oneplus device without root?

    Posted: 17 Jun 2022 03:50 PM PDT

Is this possible or what exactly would I need to do? I hear you don't have to root and can just unlock bootloader but doesnt this prevent future manufacture updates from being pushed to phone?

I would like to manually download android 12 to my oneplus n20 5g but I'm not sure what's the best way to go about it so its successful

Any help would be great .

    Posted: 17 Jun 2022 11:56 AM PDT

How can I send calls immediately to voicemail? (Similar to Apples Do Not Disturb)

    Posted: 17 Jun 2022 01:37 PM PDT

I have a Galaxy S22 and I'm wondering how I can send calls straight to voicemail without activating Airplane Mode? On IOS Airplane simply mutes notifications and sends all calls to voicemail. On Android it mutes the call but it will ring out and then direct to voicemail - I want it to send to voicemail immediately. Can anyone advise? Thanks!

Where is the WORK profile setting?

    Posted: 17 Jun 2022 01:37 PM PDT

From what I understand Android is supposed to have a setting that allows you to set up a work profile to keep personal and work separate. However, I cannot find it.

I go to settings then to account and back up, and from there I don't see anything that says work profile.

Where should I be going instead? Am I maybe understanding something incorrectly?

How is the Switch to Android from iOS?

    Posted: 17 Jun 2022 05:56 AM PDT

If you are a former iPhone user, how was your experience with the process of switching to an Android device, and what are your thoughts about using Android now? What made you switch? I am a 6 year iPhone user currently using the iPhone 12 contemplating switching to an Android device. I always thought about switching, but I didn't give it any serious thought until now. Any advice is helpful. Thank you!

No service on Android out of nowhere

    Posted: 17 Jun 2022 12:45 PM PDT

Phone service worked fine until a long trip in the Nevada desert where I obviously lost service. It doesn't work anymore and won't connect back to my mobile network. I have tried network resets taking the sim in and out and phone restarts. I don't want to factory reset my phone or even worse get a new one but I can't find a solution. I popped out my sim and tried it on an old android phone and it worked just fine. Any suggestions?

OnePlus 8 loses 5-7% battery immediately after charging to 100

    Posted: 17 Jun 2022 12:24 PM PDT

As said in the title, my phone loses 5-7% of battery immediately after charging, other than that, the screen on time is what I think is normal, going from 6 to 8 hours on average.
I bought the phone 10 months ago (new, not used or refurbished) and it started doing this 2 weeks ago, also, I updated it to android 12 as soon as it got released for it, around the end of march.

I also updated the image of what it looks like in this post:

FTP between PC and Android phone

    Posted: 17 Jun 2022 11:45 AM PDT

Hey guys! Kind of new to the FTP thing. I'd like to view my PC external drives (and maybe a transfer here and there) from my Android phone, if possible. I'm assuming FTP is the best method to go about doing this? (if there's a better method, feel free to let me know!)

The PC has a hard wired ethernet connection, and my Android phone is either using wifi on that same network or is using my phone providers 5G network.

Is this possible to achieve? If it matters, I'll be the only person using it. Thanks for any advice!

How to access notification history in Android 8.1.0?

    Posted: 17 Jun 2022 11:25 AM PDT

I recently opened a notification of a reply on reddit (making the notification disappear), and it opened to an already mod-deleted post. I was able to see the reply on the notification, so I would like to find a way to recover that notification, or check it on some sort of history.

"If you deny this permission, basic features of your device may no longer work as intented"

I want to revoke the Google app's access to my call logs, location, microphone, etc

I barely use anything Google related on my phone and I don't see why it needs my call logs other than for data collection

Will my device really stop working properly?

    EIS (or OIS) on Photography?

    Posted: 17 Jun 2022 11:17 AM PDT

Hi, asking a real question here.

Does OIS really needed on phone to do a photography? if so, how important it is? is it still okay to buy new phone without OIS in it if we're doing photography without shaky environment?

I heard that EIS is effective for videograph. Does it also affect photography? if so, is it still okay to buy EIS-Only phone for photography?

    Google play services keeps stopping

    Posted: 17 Jun 2022 11:13 AM PDT

I'm at a total loss. Went to sleep and my phone was fine and on the charger. Woke up and I keep getting the popup of "Google Play Services Keeps Stopping," and none of my google applications work. Things I've tried:

    • Restarting the phone
    • Restarting the phone in safe mode
    • Wiping the Play Services cache
    • Force stopping the Play Services
    • Disabling the Play Services then trying to open the app store to force an update
    • Checking my phone for software updates (none found)

I have a Galaxy S22 Ultra with T-Mobile in the US. I'm running no custom firmware, just Nova Launcher. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I use Noice with the volume maxed to help me sleep. I want the volume to revert to a lower level later. How?

    Posted: 17 Jun 2022 11:02 AM PDT

I'd prefer if there was a free and open source way to do this, but I wasn't able to find one in my searches on F-Droid except for a 9 year old app that depends on a nonexistent menu button.

EDIT: I am running GrapheneOS without any Google apps installed except for a sandboxed Play Store and Play Services.

I lost most of my apps overnight

    Posted: 17 Jun 2022 10:43 AM PDT

First off I have a Samsung Galaxy A50.

So last night I fell asleep watching YouTube on my phone, well I woke up this morning and most of my apps have disappeared, all apps are still installed on my phone and currently the only way I can access them is going to the playstore and searching for the app where as up until I fell asleep I had probably about 40 plus apps and games. Just wanting to know if there is a way to get my apps back I've tried restarting my phone, Uninstalling an app and re installing it, clearing the cache and cookies on several apps including Google play store, all while searching the internet for ways to fix my issue.

    Re-enable autofill

    Posted: 17 Jun 2022 10:41 AM PDT

I just had to quickly disable the autofill because of an error, and can't re-enable it. From Google: "Go to Settings > System > Language & Input > Advanced > Autofill service > Add service and follow the onscreen instructions to enable autofill. " This does not work, there is no "Add service". By following the suggestion I arrive at a page where it says "Autofill with Samsung Pass", that's all. This is on, but does nothing. Note, my phone is in a different language and "System" does not exist, so I might be on the wrong page. Can't find the right one though, not with the search-function either.

    Any help appreciated.

Edit: Samsung galaxy A70, using Chrome.

'Split screen' lock/notifications on Android 12

    Posted: 17 Jun 2022 06:55 AM PDT

Nog I've converted my tables to Android 12 (lineage) I noticed that in landscape orientation (it's a tablet, what else would I use), I get a split screen layout of the lockscreen (left top corner clock, right side notification) instead of all centered. Same with notifications when unlocked (all on the right) and the keypad for unlock via pin is at the left or right (depending on weather you swipe up on the left or right side of the screen.

Is this caused by me setting screen and font to smallest (standard is way to big for 10") or is this a setting I need to toggle to get the old (Android 11 and earlier) behaviour?

how do I know if my refurb phone is safe to use?

    Posted: 17 Jun 2022 09:26 AM PDT

I bought an HTC U12+ and I'm just setting it up now.

It was purchased as new but now I've got it I can see it's actually refurbished. I plan on keeping it anyway, but that sends up a red flag.

I know some folks have had issues with refurb phones spying on them, how do I tell if my phone is safe?

Can't send or receive texts while inside company building

    Posted: 17 Jun 2022 12:24 AM PDT

So whenever I'm inside the building where I work, text messages don't work. When I'm outside the building, but still on the premises, it starts working again. I am connected to the same company wifi inside and outside. When I try to text while inside, I get a message saying "Unable to send message. Will try again when the server becomes available." or something like that, and I get a spinning circle next to the message. If it takes too long, I'll just get an error message saying "can't send message, please try again (or smt like that)", but if I managed to get outside while the circle is still spinning, the message will go through, obviously long after I tried sending it in the first place. Same happens with receiving messages. If someone texts me at work I won't know until I go outside on my break and suddenly the text will pop up but in actuality they sent me the message several minutes or hours ago before I receive it.

My coworkers also have android phones and are connected to the same wifi. They can text just fine. Is it my carrier? I have Boost Mobile. Does anyone know what might be causing this? It's very annoying. Oh yeah, I should also mention this didn't always happen. For the first month I started working, it worked fine, but after that it just suddenly stopped. I don't recall changing any settings in my phone that might've caused this. Turning off wifi and trying to use only mobile data didn't work. And turning off mobile data with only wifi I just get a message saying I can't text at all. Any ideas? It's very annoying.

Edit: i have an android 11, one ui 3, galaxy s10e on boost mobile.

can I make apps only open incognito chrome

    Posted: 17 Jun 2022 09:03 AM PDT

I have a porn rss feed and when I open it then it logs it all on my chrome history

Is there a way to make it always open in incognito?

I closed chrome and made a incognito launcher, opened it, then opened the rss aggregator. When I click to launch it still logs it in chrome history

Is there a way to master override? I'd like that app and reddit to only open links in incognito I don't want that history recorded.
