    Soundboard that supports keyboard hotkeys

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 08:05 AM PST

    Greetings!

I play Dungeons and Dragons, and am looking for an Android App to play sounds / ambient soundtracks at will, kind of like a soundboard. But also, I have a keyboard for my android tablet, and would like to use the keys as shortcuts to play / loop sounds since it would be much more convenient and faster.

Is there an app like that?

    Thanks!

Lightweight dictionary and vocabulary made by me. Wanted something minimalist enough to quickly search stuff. Enjoy!

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 03:40 PM PST

    Google Play Store (Free)

Feedback appreciated. This is my second app published to Google Play.

I've made it since I wanted a quick dictionary to search words in English and also store them in a vocabulary, as English is not my first language. I plan to add word prediction. Thoughts? Thanks.

What's the big deal about a browser? To me, it is just the utility that displays the web page of my search result. I have a browser, but what does one do with a browser? What features an I missing out on, and, besides security, why do you prefer yours? I ask to learn, so thanks for your answers!

Swiftly Switch, Pie Control, etc slow on launcher home screens, fast when in an app. Advice?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 11:14 PM PST

As the title says, I'm using apps like Pie Control, Swiftly Switch, etc which work super fast when I'm already in an app and switching between them, but when I'm on my home screen it's incredibly slow (2 - 4 seconds to open an app). It doesn't take as long if I open the app via a shortcut on the home screen though and is instant.

Has anyone had experience with this and or managed to solve it?

Aliask is a social network that connects you to people that match your descriptions. We also connect people to you if you match their description[s].

For example, you could look for someone who:

    • is 18-24
    • is <5 miles from you
    • can play the guitar

    If you:

    • enjoy trying new things
    • can figure things out on your own
    • don't mind instability & a lack of features/polish
      • Friending isn't enabled yet
    • can read and tap in English

We invite you to beta test Aliask on your:

    What is Aliask?

Aliask is a social network that brings people together by:

    1. asking people who they're looking for
    2. getting to know people
    3. matching people in one-on-one conversations

We do the tedious networking so you can skip to the conversation.

    When is Aliask?

Use Aliask whenever you're looking for someone (or someone is looking for you). Get a new match when you:

    • are feeling bored/lonely
    • can't figure something out
    • need a running/gym partner
    • are recruiting for a group/team
    • etc

    How is Aliask?

    • If you want to find someone, then describe them in any/all of the following ways:
      • age
      • relative distance to you
      • answer[s] to question[s]
        • any question[s]
        • any answer[s]
    • If you want someone to find you, then answer questions so we can get to know you!
      • You can add privacy to any answer
        • We generate an aliask (reachable alias) for each private answer and action
          • Aliask usernames begin with an underscore _
          • Others can message you through your aliask
          • They won't see who you are
    • Aliask will connect you when both you and your match are online.
      • This may take longer in the beginning.

Going back to the original example, you could describe someone who:

    • is 18-24
    • is <5 miles from you
    • answered Yes to Can you play the guitar?
      • You can add new questions
      • You can also add new choices to existing questions

    Notes

    • Your birthdate/age and location are Only Me privacy by default
    • It's pronounced ale-lee-ask
    • Aliask is a portmanteau of alias and ask
    • Temporary restrictions
      • For personal use only
      • Minors (<18) may only seek people within 2 years of age. Their matches will also be within 2 years in age.
      • Majors (18+) may seek any major but may only seek minors who are within 2 years of age. They may be matched to any major. They may also be matched to minors who are within 2 years of age.

    If you:

    • enjoy trying new things
    • can figure things out on your own
    • don't mind instability & a lack of features/polish
      • Friending isn't enabled yet
    • can read and tap in English

Are apps on android tablets really that bad?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 07:54 PM PST

I'm in the process of choosing between the Tab s6 or the iPad Air and apart from all the hardware differences my main concern is that the Tab s6 won't have apps that are optimized like iPad does (that's what all the you tubers say)

I've had both android and iPhone and the apps on android phone have had almost no problems but everyone says android tablets just use stretched out phone apps and a lot of times they have problems...

Anyone with android tablet (relatively newer) have any experience ?

Is there any other browser on Android that supports add-ons like Firefox?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 07:44 PM PST

mobile app that gives a good experience like simplenote?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 11:17 PM PST

apps/sites that gives a good experience just like simplenote? how exactly is like simplenote?

    the main problem/limitation

    • the problem/limit is that like with most other good apps/sites, we arent able to use multiples instances/copies of that app/site

      • not sure if this is cos the app/site is badly designed or the os is badly designed
      • sites are somewhat less of a problem depending on whaat web client you're using, but as we all know apps are huge problem, arent able to use multiples instances/copies of that app
    • ofc as we all know, onenote can have mutiple instances/copies, but it force switches you to the viritual desktop where a onenote instance is already open instead of where you actually opened onenote

    • cant use onenote online or things from microsoft cos it doesnt let you make mutiple emails, and needs phone numbers

    simplenote

to create a list , you just press a common hotkey

    • there's also a 1-click to create new list icon

    • and what you type becomes the title

    • the title also auto updates when you change it

    good flow

    other good features

    • 1-click to delete via icon/button
    • 1-click to hide sidebar
    • lists are accessible offline
    • pinnable lists

this was initally intended just for moblie use (so it has only mobile lists on it)

but think am gonna move the mobie lists elsewhere (dunno to what, dunno of any good options),

and use it only for desktop/laptop use

simplenote was not always good, and the update must've been done this year or last year or whenever it was, it used to be used to be trash like these apps/sites below

apps/sites that has a good interface just like simplenote? why is it comparable to simplenote?

    bad apps/sites

    zim

this thing is complete garbage and want to uninstall it

using it temporarily cos of the problem that you cant use multiples instances/copies of the the good apps/sites

there lots of friction when creating a list

    1. there's an interface that opens up that gets in your way
    2. it forces you to make a title instead of typing what you actually want
    3. a date that auto-populates and clutters up the screen, and there's no settings/options to delete this garbage

also 200% the friction just to delete a list

    • takes 2 clicks to delete

    cherrytree

beyond trash. this is the abosute worst, i dont know if there's even anything good about this, dont think it has any users cos nobody knows whats godo about it

    1. everything is a mess is nowhere it's suppose to be
    2. for example creating a list is a on the 4th link on the 'top bar'
    3. same problem as zim with interface friction
    4. it has a blue background that you cant even changed
    5. i dont htink this garbage is even updated anymore? (updated means updaed in a significant way)
    6. everything is worded incredibly badly that nobody understands
    7. i think this is an app from the 1980s or something, its such garage

    cintanotes

this is for the need of better searches. onenote has extremely bad searches. there's a few ppl on the web that knows nothing about software and that say its good searches, but it is the worst, terrible search feature in many ways

    • this is suppose to have much better & detailed searches?

    • i still have to test this

the ui is complete garbage tho

    dynalist

    • 200% friction to create a list
    • then you cant even start typing cos it auto-populates with 'untitled'
    • tons of friction, prob 2nd worst in the simple thing of creating a list

    standard note

    • garbage, why even mention the garbge?

apps/sites that has good UX/UI just like simplenote? for mobile use

Are there any games for android that are similar to games like either kingdom hearts or monster hunter?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 11:02 PM PST

I'm looking for a game that is like either kingdom hearts or monster hunter. I'm not really looking for a game that looks good or has a complex combat system, I just want it to be 3d and have rpg elements like the two games I mentioned. I'm also not necessarily looking for a game that has a lock-on system like kingdom hearts but at least something similar to castlevania lament of innocence where when you attack, your character automatically turns to face the opponent to make combat easier. But if it is like monster hunter where the game has nothing to help you, it should be fine as long as the controls are good enough.
