Is the MSI GF63 THIN 8SC good for programming? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 01:25 PM PST I am a software engineering student in my first year and I am thinking about upgrading my laptop. Is the MSI GF63 THIN 8SC a good choice? Will it last my 2 more years in uni and will it handle the workload? Also, is it worth ~1000 usd? [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Nov 2019 01:04 PM PST I'm finishing up my first term at university and wanted to get a cheap laptop for taking notes next term. I built a nice gaming pc last year, so I'm good in my dorm, but wanted something more mobile. Since my computer can do everything, I just need a laptop that can run google docs and whatever basic slides my professors require. I would love recommendations, and want to keep my budget at $200 or a little over. This means I'm likely looking at some kind of acer or Chromebook. Thanks for any suggestions reddit! Edit: Not sure if waiting till cyber monday would be of use in a already low price range [link] [comments]
Headset on ROG Strix laptop, will it be fine ? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 12:42 PM PST Hello i'm using ROG strix laptop with combo-jack i'm looking into buying Sennheiser GSP 300 (or 301/302) So, will it have any problems with mic ? cuz my friend had problems with a combo-jack and headset's mic, his mic was sending some noise, which only i and another dude in the voice chat could hear (steam/TS/discord) [link] [comments]

These are the laptops I've used so far:
I want something that's light, durable and fast. I've gone through 3 laptops so far since the beginning of the semester and I just want a laptop that won't give me any issues lol. A powerful ultrabook or 2 in 1 would be ideal. I'm considering the Thinkpad X1 Carbon or Dell XPS 15 (2 in 1) but I read that the newer dell xps have a lot of issues. [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Nov 2019 12:23 PM PST Hi, Im just sharing this thought and would like to know your opinion. I think HDPI screens have waaaay too many fucking pixels. It forces programmers to have extra work for no fucking good reason - since i cannot tell the difference between HDPI and fullHD. Is HDPI that important for you? [link] [comments]
Help with picking a graphics chip! Posted: 25 Nov 2019 11:52 AM PST I'm in the market for a new laptop 2-in-1 with a decent graphics chip. There's so many different chips I'm overwhelmed! Can someone rank the graphics chips for me? There's the: MX 250 MX 150 GTX 1050 TI GTX 1050 GTX 1060 GTX 1650 GTX 1650 TI RTX 2060 RTX 2070 A ranking would be appreciated! [link] [comments]
Saving for a new laptop, suggestions? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 11:47 AM PST I know absolutely nothing about computers so I'm taking to Reddit. My computer decided to up and kill itself so I'm in need of a replacement. Preferably under $1000 CAD and is a good all-purpose laptop. I like to edit lengthy videos and play some demanding-ish games in my spare time, so something that won't lag beyond the seven circles of hell if I so much as breathe on the keyboard is what I'm looking for. Posted: 25 Nov 2019 11:25 AM PST Hello! I have an old Samsung laptop, which was working fine till last week. Now, when I switch it on, it displays the BIOS/POST screen where you can press F2 to goto Setup or F4 for recovery. After that the monitor keeps flickering without displaying anything. Whether I press F2 or F4 or Del - monitor just flickers to black screen to gray screen on/off. When I opened the laptop, I can see the fans start for a second and goes off again. After few second the fan starts again and then stops again, while the monitor flickers every few second. Any idea what maybe the issue? [link] [comments]
How to stop my fan from turning on Posted: 25 Nov 2019 11:17 AM PST Is there a way to throttle my laptops hardware just enough to stop my fan from turning on? I want it for dusty (my workshop) and low ventilation conditions (in bed). Ideally it would be an extra power mode I could choose from. I'm on a Dell Inspiron, i7-10510u, Nvidia mx230, Windows 10 Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Nov 2019 10:37 AM PST I haven't bought a new laptop in about 6 years and when going to bestbuy, target etc most of the new laptops have low HD space. I barely see any that would have 500 mb space. Is there a reason for that? Lol [link] [comments]
Any sites with decent deals that work internationally? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 10:30 AM PST I live in Poland and our deals are pretty bad to say the least. I see lots of good offers but most of them are US only and a few that aren't charge so much for shipping that it's not worth it. I'm checking amazon uk/de/es pretty much every day but there hasn't been any good deals so far, at least not for the specs I'd like to buy. Any tips on where I should look? I'm looking for something with 1660ti, preferably without Windows since I have a spare one. The rest doesn't really matter, I just want the price to he as low as possible. I have Legion Y540 bookmarked but I'm waiting for a better deal than ~$999 for 1660ti. [link] [comments]
New Asus laptop (TUF 705dt) GPU VRAM issues Posted: 25 Nov 2019 10:29 AM PST Lately, I've started using my few months old laptop (intel i5-3550h, gtx 1650) for heavier gaming tasks and I get a lot of crashes that are related to VRAM). Both Overwatch (on 1080p full texture scaling) and the new Jedi Fallen Order (even on 720p!!) have crashed with error messages like "Out of video memory trying to allocate a texture", "rendering device has been lost and similar ones. Less graphically intensive games run with no problem at all. I've tried fully removing and reinstalling GPU drivers with DDU, but the problem persists. Is this a software issue that I can solve somehow or should I consider returning the laptop? [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Nov 2019 10:25 AM PST I've been researching the Surface Laptop 3 for the past few days, having previously believed that the Surface Laptop Range had a long way to go before it could compete with other products of its kind and have found a lot of mixed opinions online. I'm a fan of the MacBook like design of the SL3 and have always preferred Windows to Mac when it comes to OS. The surface products have shown marked improvement over the past few years and I'm wondering if Microsoft have finally designed something worth while as far as laptops are concerned? It seems like the SL3 is pretty decent value for money at this point, but I'd like the input of someone who's a bit more educated than I am regarding these things. The only conclusion I've really come to is that the AMD chip version isn't worth my time, but I'm unsure about the Intel version. [link] [comments]
Preferred specs for Photoshop work Posted: 25 Nov 2019 10:14 AM PST Hey everyone! My apologies for adding to the pile of buying help threads this holiday season. I'm looking to purchase a new laptop this week. I'm not a full-time graphic designer but my job requires quite a bit of work in Photoshop even when it's not for big projects. To this point I've done essentially everything on my work computer with the occasional tweak to a graphic on my old, cheap Asus laptop I got during grad school (almost four years ago lol). I'd like to upgrade but I'm not particularly well-versed in what I should be looking for. Macbook is a bit out of my price range but that's as much as I've narrowed down so far. Any recommendations? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 09:46 AM PST HEllo, I want to buy a new laptop and now black fridays coming up i think its probably the best time. I want to use the laptop for netflix, brousing the internet and to play world of warcraft with and other online games. So i need a laptop that can handle online gaming. However.. I dont really want to spend over £500. i was looking on currys website and they've got a lot of good deals on for black friday. Can anyone find a good laptop on there website that will be able to handle what i want it for? If anyone can help id appreciate it so much. Posted: 25 Nov 2019 09:09 AM PST Hi, i want to buy a new laptop and cannot really decide between these two. Im an architecure student, which means i use CAD software like revit and vectorworks. Occasionally i have to render a visualization and use photoshop. Also i consume much online content and like to casually game (mainly League and some FPS). Id get both with similar specs: i7-9750h 1660ti 16GB RAM 500GB SSD But one big difference im not sure about is: MAG-15 (XMG Fusion here in europe) comes only with IPS 144hz and the AERO 15 is on sale with a 4K OLED display. I really like the colors of an OLED but im worried about the 60hz PWM it apparently has. And because im planning to get a 144hz 1440p IPS/VA Monitor for my desk setup i dont know if its wise to have best of both worlds and get the OLED or to go for the MAG-15 and have double IPS 144hz. I do like the design of the MAG-15 better, the appearance, the magnesium chassis, the mechanical keyboard. Only thing the AERO 15 has going for me is the OLED display. Also which Laptop has better thermals? MAG-15 would be about 1600 Euro AERO-15 would be 1700 Euro [link] [comments]

New Macbook pro 16 vs Razer blade 17 Posted: 25 Nov 2019 09:07 AM PST Hi I'm deciding to get one of these for Black Friday this week. I can't really decide, if anyone can tell me which is a better value for the money it'd be greatly appreciated. New MacBook pro has the option to get 32 gig of Ram which Is what i wanna get, while the RBP has 16 gig. Mbp also has retina display and more storage option. Isn't it a no brainer that MBP provides a better value, or am I missing something? [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Nov 2019 09:04 AM PST So Im a highschool senior and with black friday coming up I really need a new laptop to take to college. Im willing to spend money if its worth it. Im open to any suggestions. Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Nov 2019 08:59 AM PST I was looking through link from an ad on IG HP website and I saw that the SILVER HP Envy x360 is available in the 13" size but I cannot find anywhere to buy this version. The only 13" ones I can find are the dark gray 13z AMD Ryzen ones but i REALLY like the look of the silver finish. Does anyone know where I can get a silver x360 in 13" ? [link] [comments] |
