| Anyone ever replace the glass lens on the camera? (Mi Mix 2) Posted: 03 Sep 2019 07:54 PM PDT I got my Mi Mix 2 used, so I don't know if the lens already had any defects then, but I do know that the lens is cracked now. The crack itself doesn't interfere with the camera (it splits to the left & right of the camera), but it has let dust accumulate around the camera, which does impact photos (I end up with circles/blobs on photos for every spec of dust). When looking up how to replace the glass lens, I've found guides for replacing the entire camera cover, which includes removing the entire back of the device, the logic board cover, disconnecting a cable, pulling out the full camera cover, then reapplying new adhesive along with a new camera cover, then re-assembling everything back together. That seems like overkill. It looks like I can heat just the glass lens itself and remove it, then replace just the glass lens (without disassembling the entire phone). When checking parts sites, I found several glass lenses (with adhesive already applied) which again hints that it can be replaced without pulling the whole device apart. Has anyone replaced just the glass lens that is over the camera? Is it as simple as heating it (using a heat gun) and popping it out? [link] [comments]  | ||

| Running an outdated custom ROM Posted: 03 Sep 2019 05:35 PM PDT I flashed the PE Extended custom ROM (PE = Pixel Experience) on my Redmi Note 5 Pro in October of 2018. Almost a year ago now. I'm still running that same ROM. I went over to the XDA custom ROM forums the other day and noticed the ROM I am running hasn't been updated in a long time and development for it is officially dead. Is this a problem? The ROM still runs smoothly (except for GCam which crashes half the time). Wondering if I should start over and flash something that's currently being updated for security reasons. I'm thinking of either flashing Havoc, Pixel Experience, Lineage, or Xiaomi.EU. Not sure which is best outta those though. Anyone have any advice on a better ROM or knowledge of the negatives to running an outdated ROM? [link] [comments]  | ||

Posted: 03 Sep 2019 05:33 PM PDT For those who had the Mi 9T Pro already available on their respective regions (like Europe), do you guys have the pearl white one on sale too? My girlfriend has been holding out for a while to get a Xiaomi Mi 9T and she clearly delayed it even more now that she saw the pearl white version of the K20 Pro (which is the China ROM). What made us delay buying the K20/K20 Pro is due to the non-global ROM and my laziness to research on how to convert it to the global one. Lol. Plus the warranties for importing one is a bit of a risk so there's that. In the Philippines the Mi 9T Pro will be released today but no rumors yet on the pearl white colorway.
