What is the point of dark mode, if... Android Apps

What is the point of dark mode, if...

    Posted: 29 Sep 2019 02:11 AM PDT

...when you open the app, it has a white splash screen?

    So annoying...

    https://imgur.com/PbnUBnl.jpg

A lot of answers! For clarification:

    - Youtube is just one example. It happens with others apps.

    - This happens in my OP3T with stock Android 9. Dark theme setup. (with or without night mode active, I just checked it)

    - Main problem of this: Checking the phone before sleep (bad habit), in a dark room with low lights...open that app and then it is like a shinny sunrise.

Monk Mode - RPG Journal, Productivity Tracker (50 Promo Codes for Premium)

    Posted: 29 Sep 2019 06:24 AM PDT

    Hello everyone,

I've always remembered myself wanting to track my life like a RPG game. After 8 months of work, I finally created my own RPG Journal app.

Monk Mode separates your life into 4 skills-categories:

    • Health → Activities that have to do with fitness, diet, beauty, your body in general

    • Financial → Activities that have to do with career, business, school, university, money in general

    • Social → Activities that have to do with family, friends, partner, people in general

    • Mindfulness → Activities that have to do with your philosophy of life, religion, setting goals, organizing, entertainment, your mind in general

Mastery of these 4 skills can embody a complete and happy life. As you add your daily activities, you will gain exp, level up and win achievements. The app contains build-in activities and you can create your own.

The app also tracks down your progression and shows stats for each month, to see where you lack most in your life.

The app features a one time pay premium mode which contains

    • Dark theme
    • Removes Ads
    • In depth stats that will be added until next month

Future thoughts: A major feature has yet to be added. It will enable users to add daily, monthly goals based on their activities. This will help them build their own habbits and become more productive in life. Feature to be released in November.

    Check out Monk Mode here.

Last but not least: Here are 50 promo codes to get a free premium version.

Any feedback would be highly appreciated!

Will I get to keep my downloaded apps once my Play Pass trial is over?

    Posted: 29 Sep 2019 10:01 AM PDT

Seems pretty obvious to me, but Play Store keeps displaying a message along the lines of "Please restore your subscription to keep your downloaded apps". Any ideas?

What apps would you recommend for someone coming back to Android after a few years?

    Posted: 29 Sep 2019 11:03 AM PDT

I got an iPhone 6s in 2016 and an iPhone 8 Plus in 2017, but plan to go back to Android. I am looking at the Note 10 but I digress.

What apps were released on Android from 2016 to now would you recommend for us "switchers" who missed them?

    Posted: 29 Sep 2019 07:30 AM PDT

    Hello all,

I'm using FolderSync daily to sync my phone to my NAS. The app is okay but I was wondering, just by curiousisty, if some of you have or use any alternatives ? I have seen some like Synchronise Ultimate but I'd appreciate some opinions.

    Content dense Reddit app?

    Posted: 29 Sep 2019 04:50 AM PDT

Looking for a layout similar to Boost's gallery view, but with autoplay for gifs and videos. Sync for Reddit is almost there using full hight cards and multi column, however there is way too much wasted, empty space. My phone is 6.8 inches, I want as much of it filled up with content as possible!

I've been search for a while now and feel like it's a lost cause, so I turn to the experts! I appreciate your time, thank you!

Music player - not the usual thread ;)

    Posted: 29 Sep 2019 08:04 AM PDT

I've been using Phonograph and I'm loving it.

A few days ago I switched to a new phone and was kinda bummed to see that I can not migrate my already made playlists.

Which android music player allows you to backup & restore your playlists?

    Thanks!

Looking for an IP camera app

    Posted: 29 Sep 2019 07:55 AM PDT

So I've tried IP Camera, but it needs to be always on in order to stream, and that overheats my old phone to shut down.

Is there an IP camera app that wakes on request and sleeps after a few minutes? Don't need any kind of sensors.

    Free on demand music?

    Posted: 29 Sep 2019 08:56 AM PDT

Not sure if this is the right sub for this or not.

Is there any app or site that you can create playlists of specific songs to listen too? Much like YouTube music but just audio. I know that if I pay for youtube premium it would get me what I'm looking for but I dont want to give them any support with all their bs.
Free with ads would be best but I'm guessing that most are a premium. So then it boils down to which one has the most bang for the buck. Bonus points for being able to listen offline and pc app or site. Seems like the main contenders would be Pandora, iHeart and Spotify. I'm not sure which ones would let me make a playlist of specific songs without playing "suggested" ones too.

    Tubemate Post Processing Freezes

    Posted: 28 Sep 2019 11:32 PM PDT

I've been using Tubemate for years now and I have the most up to date version but recently, I've found that when I download my videos, they download normally but the post processing always freezes and never works. I tried downloading MP4 files and WEBM and the same issue occurs. I've cleared the cache and went into the settings but I can't find the root of the problem. Anyone know anything?

Looking for a simple/minimalistic photo editor app (don't give a frik about filters/effects)

    Posted: 29 Sep 2019 03:11 AM PDT

Hello, I'm looking for a simple/minimalistic photo editing app for Android 9 Pie.

The functions that i need: - photo cropping - photo resizing - adding text to photo - adding regular shapes on photo (for example drawing filled black rectangle to censor something on photo)

That's it. I don't give a single frik about some silly filters, emotes or stickers and effects. Want just a simple sturdy basic photo editor. Can be free or paid (up to approx. 5USD).

What is wrong with ES File Explorer Pro?

    Posted: 29 Sep 2019 09:52 AM PDT

I've been using ES for 6 years or so, never had adverts or push notifications or any problems with it. I recently reset my phone and found I was unable to find ES in the play store again.

I tried solid explorer (paid) for the last 2 months and it isn't anywhere near as useful as ES. So I decided to move back to using ES, but reading online everyone seems to hate it and be against it.

Again I've never had any of the problems people state about it online so I'm really confused. Does the app do dodgy things in the background? Anyone else out there still using ES? I really need some advice here because it seems no other file explorer is as complete as ES is but I don't want to use something that sends my data to random companies or whatever.

I have an app that's currently in playstore, The idea is to make it an aggregator for most sport channels from around the world.

Currently it only supports Ethiopian Premier league as that's where am from. The underlining library the app is built on can be found on github: https://github.com/brookmg/Soccer-Ethiopia-API

    The playstore link is: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.kuwas.android

    Posted: 28 Sep 2019 09:51 PM PDT

Shadow Weather is the last weather app you didn't know you needed. It has every feature you could want from a typical weather app. Plus a realtime lightning tracker, and it integrates right into your phones calendar getting the forecast for the TIME and LOCATION of your calendar events. Shadow Weather analyzes the forecast and picks out only the important things so you can know at a glance what is up, but can then also dive deeper with the most comprehensive weather forecast available by just tapping.

Try it out today and give us feedback! We are always looking for ways to improve.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.noaimgames.shadowweather

There is a known bug where some wintery weather causes the app to freeze; literally. A fix for this bug is under way.
