My gamepad's lights blink rapidly and it'll not connect to my laptop

    Posted: 28 Sep 2019 03:42 AM PDT

I bought a TORID Speedlink gamepad. It was working perfectly fine before. But now when i press the connect button it'll not connect and the light will blink rapidly.

Before this I've connected it to another laptop and it worked just fine there. But two days after that I've run into this issue and I cannot get out. My drivers are up to date, I've tried charging the gamepad. But even the charging is weird, because after some time the lights just stop instead of showing it's being charged like it normally is.

Please help me i was on the final chapter of FFXV T_T

    Any game just freezes randomly?

For some odd reason when i booted my PC today every game i play has some strange freeze for about half a second every 10-50 minutes and it can be really annoying when im playing FPS games....

This isn't from lag and it happens in Single player games.

Things i've tried to fix it

    Updated Drivers for Graphics card

    Restart computer

    Disable all overlays

    used CCleaner

checked to see if OC is still stable and settings didn't randomly change.

How can I remove S-Mode on Windows 10 Home

    Posted: 28 Sep 2019 12:02 AM PDT

I bought a Laptop. Specifically, an HP Notebook 14-dq0011dx (Model Information: http://qr.inc.hp.com/qr?pn=7FU46UA&cc=us&ll=en&jumpid=QR_PPS_7FU46UA_NA&occ=us&oll=en&rd=1 ).

I am currently running on Windows 10 Home on S Mode. I want to switch out of S Mode. But in settings, it says to update to Windows 10 Pro in S Mode. When I go to the Microsoft Store, and search "Get out of S Mode", the "Get" option is greyed out and on top it says "Check with IT or Administrator". I am updated to latest updates of Windows and the Store. This is my own laptop and I am the Administrator of the system.

    Anything helps. Thanks.

    Hdd help

    Posted: 28 Sep 2019 02:02 AM PDT

So I stupidly didn't let windows get all of its drivers on my new computer before I put in the mobo disc, it bricked my mobo, I bought another one which will help out in the end anyway because I needed more car fans, but now I'm worried to put my old hdd in, I'm skeptical that it will do anything but wanted to ask to be 100% sure.

    Posted: 27 Sep 2019 11:47 PM PDT

so i'm a regular xbox one user and i've been hit off a time or two and now i would like to get a vpn. i dont have a desktop PC. my router is used only for xbox and my mobile phone.

the two options i'm looking at is a 'router VPN' or a 'desktop PC VPN' i guess i save for a PC and do it that way but i'd rather not if i could.

may i please have some advice on how to approach the situation? any replies would be appreciated!

i will no longer join random parties.

additionally, i think the last guy got my MAC address. i dont know why he wanted that but i think he threatened to console ban me. any word of insight on that?

Stereo audio not working on headphones

    Posted: 27 Sep 2019 11:46 PM PDT

I have a 5 year old of Final Audio Hope IVs and stereo audio isn't working for them on windows. I have another pair of headphones with which stereo audio works fine.

The only difference between the two is that the 3.5mm audio cable on the Hope IVs is TRS, whereas it is TRRS on the headphones with which stereo audio works. Despite this distinction, I don't understand why stereo audio wouldn't work on the Hope IVs, given that TRS connectors are meant to support it.

Does anyone know how I might be able to fix this?

Can I add a hotkey that serves the same purpose as the power button on my laptop?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2019 11:45 PM PDT

I use an amazonbasics external keyboard and mouse with my dell xps 13 laptop (with display hooked up to a monitor) when at home. I would like to be able to keep the laptop hooked up to the keyboard and monitor, but whenever I put it to sleep it automatically boots back up, so I have to put it in hibernate, but then I can't get it back up without opening the laptop and pressing the power button. With all this said, I would like to add a hotkey that can go into and come out of hibernation, or allows my keyboard to act as the actual power button, so I don't have to open my laptop every time. Alternative solutions to this problem would also be much appreciated.

CPU usage slows Ethernet internet speed

    Posted: 28 Sep 2019 01:37 AM PDT

Lately my internet speed has been slowed down when I've played games which causes my pc to use most of its CPU I have 100/100 internet and haven't experienced any problems, until now, only change I made since it start was that I opted to switch from CAT5 to CAT6 and that's really it.

When my CPU is in use my internet can go from 100/100 to 80-60-30 and then to having occasional disconnects which obviously isn't beneficial when playing video games.

I'm thinking it's a hardware issue but I wouldn't be able to locate it myself. Really hoping someone can help.

"Repairing disk errors. This might take over an hour to complete"

    Posted: 28 Sep 2019 12:36 AM PDT

"Repairing disk errors. This might take over an hour to complete" its been days and it shows no sign of booting into windows. It all happened 2 days ago when is was just surfing the internet all of a sudden it froze completely it had happened before so i just did the usual crtl+alt+del nothing was wroking so i decided not force shut down the laptop. I started it agian booted up a bit slower than it usually did also with like a black screen for few minutes windows popped up i try and put in my password and i see that my laptop was not acting normally it was slower than a macnitosh plus it again took a couple of minutes to type in and it to register the password. Started loading,i dont see any of my task bar tools, programs and all there is... Was my wallpaper and that black empty task bar with an and functional Windows button then after few minutes everything showed up, all my icons and programs but it was still hella slow it wasn't showing my graphics card and the windows button was still kinda unfunctional(slow) i couldn't open any of my programs but they certainly wont even respond. it would eventually show a white overlay and in the top left it pop windows system or something like says its not responding i'd then click okay and proceed to restart the laptop! But agian as i mentions the windows button or the alt+f4 were not responsive, then frustrated and scared by all that LAGYNESS AND BS i force shut the laptop agian! Hoping it all turn back to normal but no it didn't instead it showed that the c: drive was dirty and tried the different processes to cleanish.. It then this time the laptop would be restarted from the windows button and not a forced one it starts booting... And then its the black screen! I I thought it was just loading up but then this pops up " Diagnosing PC" "preparing automatic repair" then the first time it show the repairing disk errors and that time its started the fix saying "Fixing (c:) stage 1: 12% (77383) of (613880) 1% and guess how long it said it would be compeleted? Practically never because the ETA timer just kept on rising and reached about 10 hours to 14 hrs after i had left it scaning for about 4 hrs i had lost my calm and forced it for the final time and am still doing the same wonding if it would ever boot windows again so this was my problem its unbelievable that you read all the way through and if you don't have any solution or know what this really is! I guess it doesn't really matter! thank you for your precious time hope you have a good day ahead

Problem with booting from a cloned SSD.

    Posted: 28 Sep 2019 04:16 AM PDT

I bought a Samsung 860 SSD to replace my Toshiba HDD. I used Macrium Reflect to clone my HDD onto my SSD ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7H7D1HcfY9o this was the guide) and everything went according to the guide. Then I turned off my PC, unplugged my HDD and tried to boot. The message "Reboot with proper boot device etc" popped up. I did some digging online and fiddled with the boot sequence in my BIOS. Even after having the SSD in boot slot 1 and the HDD in slot 2, it still boots up from the HDD.

I am out of ideas and would appreciate any help!

Need help with code 56 (windows 10)

    Posted: 28 Sep 2019 04:15 AM PDT

Hey everyone. So, today I got tasked with repairing a computer which had no working Ethernet ports. The man said the Wi-Fi worked until yesterday and died today. The wireless network card is detected (AR956x Wireless) but it presents a code 56,and stays like that indefenitely. I'm the afternoon, I'll be uninstalling everything except their accounting software to see if that solves the issue.

If not, what could be causing the code 56?

Webcam turned on without me triggering it one time

    Posted: 28 Sep 2019 04:11 AM PDT

Hello. I was running the android emulator bluestacks. While I was adjusting some settings that have nothing to do with a Webcam, my webcam light turned on. It went off again by itself and then one again and off again a few minutes later. That was a week ago it has not done it since. I ran malwarebytes which came up with nothing and a few other anti virus/anti malware programs all came up with nothing. Is this something I should be worried about? Is there a way to check if my webcam was remotely accessed? Thank you!

Default power plan high performance whenever computer boots up

    Posted: 28 Sep 2019 04:09 AM PDT

So this has really been bugging me a lot and i haven't found any solution to this problem. I tried deleting the high performance power scheme (it got automatically added back for some reason) and checking out some powercfg cmd commands but i just can't seem to set my default plan as balanced. A guy told me that it could make my PC's performance permanently worse if i continue to have it as default (active) so is there any fix to this?

Does plugging your phone into the charger before it’s dead affect the battery life?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2019 04:08 AM PDT

I had a Sidekick Slide as a teenager and was told to ONLY plug it into the charger once it was completely dead. I was also advised not to use it while it was charging and to unplug it as soon as it reached 100 percent. This is most likely a silly question, but should this method still be used nowadays?

    HDD locked to Read Only

    Posted: 28 Sep 2019 03:57 AM PDT

While trying to copy a film over onto my HDD it locked the drive to read only. Tried scanning for viruses, nothing found with Avast or "TalkTalk SuperSafe" (provided by F-Secure, not my idea, my dad's virus software)

Tried formatting, it won't cause it's write protected.

Tried even doing disk management in cmd "remove readonly" and it didn't work.

Tried network and sharing access to share the folder, even in there it looks like you can change from read-only to all access, and then it doesn't actually change it either??

    Help 😭

PC Sudden RestartLoop, now it freezes randomly.

    Posted: 28 Sep 2019 03:48 AM PDT

Currently on Laptop on my bed.

    AFAIK my PC specs are...

    ASUS 1070 graphics card

    Windows 10 on SSD

2x External WD 2 TB Hard Drives

    MSi ZRsomething Motherboard

    ??? Power Supply

    i5 something.

    Please ask for more info!

    SO HERES THE THING....

Was doing my usual thing of listening to Spotify, Reddit, YouTube and playing a game (Kenshi). When I alt+tabbed from my game to watch a bit of some "doco" on youtube, the PC restarted itself. it booted up to the Desktop then restarted/ This looped about 5-7 times. I managed to get a hold of some friends on Steam, told them what happened. 1 said "it could either be a PowerSupply, CPU or Graphics card".

After my little freak out, I called a come-to-house computer guy "Bill". Bill came around and I told him the issue, to which he tested the Health of my Hard drives. Apparently I had a Hard drive that was straight up broken. OK. He tested the other 2 and they were fine. Also the SSD is fine.

Bill then wanted to get into the BIOS. after a few restarts he succeeded! he checked something with the Hard drives in there and not sure what else.

He then wanted my Windows key so I found it, gave it to him. Im not sure what he did next, coz I was attending to the dog, as he is a boxer and stubborn prick.

Bill as silent at the PC. From what I could see *being outside with dog* he was still in BIOS, and I THINK he was re-installing windows.

So eventually I come back in to him with the PC booted to desktop and the desktop being clearer. I;m 99% sure he wiped the SSD and re-installed Windows 10. Bill then says something like (He had a thick accent) "Your windows is out of date, by out of date I mean the version. You have version 14, and it trying to update to one that out of date to yours". To which my brain farted and I had no idea what he was talking about.

During this time, the PC had not restarted itself so I was into whatever he was saying. He then says, something about Steam and being on another hard drive, which I already had Steam on the SSD but the library's on the externals.

he then installs AVGN anti virus which I reluctantly agreed, and a Windows 10 update blocker, A Temperature monitor and a Hard Drive Health program.

I pay Bill 200 AUD and I move from 1 room to its original place. Plug it all in and proceed to delete the games off my Externals. The Pc JAMS. No restart, no black screen. Frozen cursor and desktop. I press restart, no luck. I reach around to the Power supply and turn it off. Wait a second, flick back on. Turn it on.

The startup looks different. instead of the MotherBoard fancy splash I get some command prompt and Sata and Hard Drives being read.... ok. It boots up, to desktop. I proceed to delete the stuff off External, for some time. Great all deleted. it took about 15 minutes. Then I opened up Chrome *yeah he installed that too* to download Teamspeak3. It jammed/froze again right as I was about to click the actual link from google page to Teamspeak3 page.

WTF NOW! I call Bill. "..Bill it's now freezing on me..." I tell him what I did, and he says he has a spare Power Supply and Graphics Card. He is on his way tomorrow around lunch time.

I am sorry for a long winded story. but any additional you wanna know please ask.

Describe your problem. List any error messages and symptoms. Be descriptive.

I recently bought a 5700xt and installed it into my computer. I used DDU to replace my old nvidia drivers and installed new AMD drivers. However, my computer will crash out of nowhere, sometimes during games like league of legends or sometimes randomly. My screen will turn off and hdmi will not register. The peripherals stay on but apps like Discord don't pick up sound or work anymore. I have to force shut-down the computer to restart.

List anything you've done in attempt to diagnose or fix the problem.

I reinstalled drivers multiple times, tried undervolting and changing wattman, turning off the recommended settings etc. Crashes regardless.

    Would appreciate any advice.

Reboot and select proper boot device error?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2019 11:51 PM PDT

So I've turned my PC on this morning and have gotten this error (Reboot and select proper boot device) even though the PC was working fine last night. I have an SSD and HDD, boot priority appears correct with the SSD showing first and it is actually showing in BIOS. The only thing I could think possibly caused this was a windows update scheduled for like 1:00am?

EDIT: Solved! Went into BIOS and disabled CSM (?) which restarted the PC and brought it into a windows update screen - I just let it update and it was done. Very strange.

    Windows 7 freezes during boot

    Posted: 28 Sep 2019 03:34 AM PDT

So today I repasted my cpu and gpu, prior to which I checked everything is working absolutely fine. And it did. Now after repasting I can only get to BIOS and do nothing else. Getting to Safe mode stops me at loading AtiPcie.sys and doesnt go any further. GPU is GTX 1050Ti, CPU is Phenom 1100T, Mobo is Asrock A770De, and 8GB of DDR2 ram is installed. I am really afraid of losing my data and don't know what to do right now...
