Convertible 2-1 laptop, how to flip? Posted: 29 Sep 2019 01:54 PM PDT I just received my 2-1 laptop (Acer Spin 5). Does anyone have tips on easily flipping between tablet & laptop mode? It's 15 inch so not the smallest. I can't find youtube videos on hand position or anything. [link] [comments]

Posted: 29 Sep 2019 01:35 PM PDT Last year, I researched the hell out of laptops with a budget of about 1200 usd and acer predator helios 500 at microcentre was the best choice for me. Excellent cooling, strong specs. Couldn't buy it though because of some reasons and now m ready to buy myself a gaming laptop. Budget has increased to 1500 this year but I despise dell and alienware. They're like apple. Same specs but price tag is on a hefty side for no reason. Which laptop offers the best specs with thermal performance and something which will won't go outdate for 3-4 years at least. Budget is 1500 max but I'd take laptops for less than that if the deal is offering something like I was getting last year. [link] [comments]
Confused about intel/amd mobile chips naming scheme Posted: 29 Sep 2019 01:29 PM PDT Okay, so i am looking for a laptop which has at least 6 cores, but i just dont understand both amds and intel naming schemes, the only thing i know is that u series chips are low power ones and h ones tend to have more cores/ higher clocks. Is there any list or video explaning both intel and amd naming schemes? I'm also looking for benchmarks to see how these chips perform. [link] [comments]
New Laptop 2019 - New Macbook Pro 13 vs Razer Blade Stealth 13 Posted: 29 Sep 2019 01:25 PM PDT Hello all! Hoping for a bit of advice based on your own personal experience. I plan to purchase a new laptop next month and I seem to have narrowed it down between two options. Would like to hear from anyone who has switched to Mac OS after a dedication to Windows and any personal opinions between owners of Macbook Pro & Razer laptops. My personal situation: 27yo male, Daily laptop user, at heart a mega tech nerd fps gamer who needs option for gaming if I feel like reigniting my addiction. Owned iPhones for last 5 years, love them, not a user of ipads, apple watches. Not a photographer or big editor of some sort. I have never owned a mac and not so familiar with Mac OS, 'comfortable and familiar' with Windows OS, Previous laptops are HP Envys. Option 1: Apple Macbook Pro 13" (latest 2019 edition) -256GB SSD Integrated Intel Iris Plus 655 -2.4GHz 8th edition Intel Core i5 8GB Ram Option 2: Razer Blade Stealth 13.3" (2019 latest) -256GB SSD -Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 -16gb Ram -8th Gen Intel Quad Core i7 8550U Thank you for your opinion & assistance all :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Sep 2019 01:19 PM PDT Hi everyone my friend wants to purchase a laptop but only has a budget of around 300 pounds. The main use of his laptop is browsing internet and streaming football shows etc and general school work Microsoft word etc. Nothing complicated. If anyone could link me or tell me the best laptop for his needs it would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance [link] [comments]

Choosing a suitable SSD for my Asus Vivobook X542UQ. Posted: 29 Sep 2019 11:55 AM PDT I'm hoping to upgrade my Asus Vivobook X542UQ by adding a 240/250/256 GB SSD without replacing my dvd rom. According to the Asus site, the mentioned laptop supports M.2 SATA3. Due to issues of availability and budget, my options are limited to cheaper brands, namely Transcend and Adata. From Transcend I am confused between 430s, 820S and 830S. Here is a comparison page for the three. As for Adata, I am looking at the SU800S. Which of these offer better value over price, and which of these brands are more reliable? I will be really grateful for any help and recommendations in this regard. Thank you. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Sep 2019 11:22 AM PDT Basically I have a budget of 830€ (around 900 USD),and I need a laptop with 16 GB of ram and a 2.0ghz+ CPU, a dedicated GPU would also be useful, but I can't sacrifice portability for performance , since I'd have to go through 5 years of college using it, any recommendations? Ps : I'm from France,so there might be price differences . [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Sep 2019 11:03 AM PDT According to notebookcheck.net this 13 inch HP Envy x360 has a 120Hz refresh rate, despite it not being mentioned on the HP site. Anyone know if this is true, and if yes is it the same for all HP Envy x360 models? (I'm specifically looking at the 13-ar0150nd). [link] [comments]

Advice for buying laptop? Doing a data analytics course. Posted: 29 Sep 2019 10:10 AM PDT I'm looking to buy a new laptop, something lightweight and portable. I'm doing a part time degree in data analytics so I'll have to download a number of programmes such as Python, SQL, Tableau, etc. My budget would be €500-€900 ($500-$950). Would appreciate some recommendations on what to get as I really don't know! Thanks ☺️ [link] [comments]
Lag in games, bad framerate. MSI Gaming Laptop. Posted: 29 Sep 2019 06:16 AM PDT Hello. I've got a MSI GE72VR 6RF Apache Pro, Full Description - (Core i7|CPU i7-6700HQ|2600 MHz|Chipset Intel HM170 Express|Screen 17.3"|Resolution 1920x1080|Screen type Non-Glare IPS|RAM 16GB|Max 32GB|DDR4|HDD 1TB|7200 rpm|SSD 256GB|DVD Super Multi DL|VGA card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060|3GB|LAN) The laptop is definitely good and should be able to run pretty good games smoothly. Games like CSGO, Civilization V run great. But when it comes to games like The Witcher 3, Wolfenstein The New Order those games run like shit. Even on the lowest graphics possible. I dont get it. I've got my battery running on High Performance, I deleted Nvidia GeForce Experience thinking it might be doing something wrong, but nothing's changed. Those higher graphic demanding games still LAG. Framerates like ~40 sometimes go to 60 but go down right after. I can't play any good video games smoothly. What's wrong with this laptop? Did I waste my money for nothing? Please somebody help, give me some tips or something of what should I do. [link] [comments]

CPU Upgradeable 17 inch laptops Posted: 29 Sep 2019 09:44 AM PDT What are some options for 17 inch, CPU upgradeable laptops? I know I can do something like the ThinkPad T540p or W540/541 for a 15 inch machine, but what about 17 inch? Not looking for a 3500 dollar, 8th/9th gen machine, more along the lines of 4th gen Intel stuff. Thanks in advance. Edit: I already have a Dell Inspiron 17R N7110, which is a 17 inch 2nd gen upgradeable laptop that I was (or still am, haven't decided yet) going to do a display, CPU, ram, storage, and WiFi card upgrade with.
