I created r/Mi9T (or K20) to centralize the posts about this phone from now on!

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 07:30 PM PDT

If this offends anyone, please let me know and i'll delete this thread.

The only reason for creating r/Mi9T is the fact that i recently bought the phone and i really like it, so i would like to create a community in which we can focus on our current/favorite phone at the moment.

Feel free to join and contribute with knowledge!

    Thank you for your attention!

Looking into the mi 9t. Peeps that currently use one in the US, how well is it doing on lte bands? Which carrier? Is it significantly slower overall due to the SD 730?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 08:26 PM PDT

Either getting this or the one plus 7 pro but I've had the mix 2 and LOVED it. So I'd like to go xiaomi again and save some money.

    mi9 notifications

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 07:12 PM PDT

so I rock the mi9 for some time now. I love the phone! I think this is the best phone I had in a while. I use xioami products like headphones, Bluetooth car chargers, mi band and they all are durable and Hugh quality. anyway, one thing with the notification system on the mi9 grinds my gears... why they keep disappearing from status bar? I know is a well documented problem but I saw on the xioami cc that the notification stay there... are there any specific settings that I don't use?

Did the RN7 just get Widevine L1?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 04:59 PM PDT

Back when I bought this phone in early July, I checked if it had Widevine L1 and as expected, it had L3(or, at least I remember saying it did). But I just checked today and it says I now have L1.

Thinking of giving Xiaomi a try - have a few questions!

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 02:09 PM PDT

    Hey there,

so my Huawei phone died and I'm deciding on what to buy now. I got a P20 Lite which I sent back due to horrific battery life, 2 - 3 hrs of SOT. So my search continues...

Well, Redmi Note 7 definetelly caught my eye... I did some research and you really get value for your money, however... here's the catch. I don't like custom ROMs... I almost ordered the RN7 and then, I heard about those annoying ads on MIUI...

Is it possible to completely turn them off, so no ads appear what so ever? (without installing a custom ROMs, rooting it etc. etc.)?

What about battery life, how long will the battery last for someone that browses the internet, watches a few YT vids per day, Facebooks and Instagrams? :)

    Thanks!

    MI 9T (K20) Tips and a 5Ghz WiFi question

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 02:03 PM PDT

This is my first xiaomi, I'm very happy with the device but there's an habit curve to the MIUI which eventually you end up liking since it takes such good care of your battery!

Here's a few tips I learned that worked out for me and might work for you as well:

    • "I'm not receiving notifications/lockscreen notifications" In MIUI apparently you have to setup notifications on a per-app basis, the easiest way to do this is to go to Settings, Permissions, Other Permissions, Permissions (on top) and then "Show on Lockscreen" activate it for each and every app, don't forget then to go activate vibration as well to go with it.

    • "The auto brightness sucks!!!!" Yes, it seems it does but if you turn off auto-contrast and then turn on auto brightness it will work 100% better! :)

    • "The fingerprint unlock is slow, face unlock is slow..." No, it's not, it really isn't, it's as fast as it can be for me. Please train every finger at least 3 or 4 times and make sure you don't have any protection covering the display, they are very clear when they say it might not work as good if you have it.

    • Also for my battery to last to up to 4 days or so I'm using Microsoft Halo launcher, AMOLED wallpapers everywhere, this means it's an entirely true black wallpaper, for connectivity mostly WIFI and DATA are on, everything else off, if you wanna save even more battery set it to use only 3G depending on where you are so it doesn't switch between networks as much making you lose battery.

--- Now as for my question... and what seems to be the only remaining problem... WiFi is only stable on my 2.4Ghz network, if I connect to the 5Ghz network it randomly loses connection or becomes slow after a while.

    What I tried so far:

    • Switch channel from 100 to 40

    • Switch bandwidth from 80MHz to 40Mhz

    • Change authentication from mixed WPA2/WPA-PSK TKIP+AES to WPA2-PSK TKIP+AES

    • The networks broadcast on different SSID's.

    • Disable IPV6 Firewall

    • UPnP is on (default)

    • There's a band steering option which is disabled.

Before you go ahead and blame the router as I saw in other threads/subreddits/forums, no, that's a really dumb thing to say, all my 5ghz wifi connected devices have been working fine for years, this phone isn't special enough for it to break now.

No it's not a distance problem, when the connection is stable, in the first few minutes, speed tests show 2ms and 200Mbps download and 100Mbps upload.

Like I said, this seems to be a reported problem for years and multiple devices now, just Google it and stop blaming the end-user.

Just trying to check if anyone found a solution just like I found solutions for the other "problems".

Xiaomi MI 9T - camera retraction after (planned)fail sound

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 04:05 PM PDT

I tried to check on the camera's fall protection. It does indeed retracts, but after it retracts, a weird noise can be heard.

I held it in my hand (over a bed) and quickly brought my hand down. The phone never left the hand, and i also didn't drop it so far.

Could any of you attempt this and tell me the result?

*** The sound isn't being heard when using the camera ***

    MI9T/K20 Battery Life

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 04:55 AM PDT

Hey guys. I am thinking about getting a Mi9 T (or Redmi K20), the normal version, with snapdragon 730. The most important thing to me is battery life, since I want out of my Exnyos s10e that cant get mlre than 4h of SOT without me having to charge it. So, what is the SOT you guys get? And how do you use it? I only use for social media and a bit of youtube and reddit. I dont record or play in cellphones.

RAM Jet app can prejudice my phone?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 06:21 PM PDT

I've recently bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, I am using for three data, although something weird happened today. From nowhere this app called RAM Jet appeared in my apps, but It doesn't appear in the app list, Just the icon of the app. I've googled and saw that the app is good but I feel strange that the app have installed by itself. Anyone knows what might be? Is this safe? I did not unninstalled the app because I saw that the app can multiply in the screen and I'm afraid that it might happen.

Just got a a Mi 9T, what is the current state to root and change the ROM?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 11:57 AM PDT

    Hi everybody,

I just got a Mi 9T (received today). I was waiting for the Mi 9T Pro to be released for its EU bands but since I dropped my phone in the sea I wasn't able to wait a couple of month.

And regarding the price I paid ($300) I don't regret my choice.
Another thing it's because I heard that this one have a better battery autonomy and also will benefit from many tweaks (like the GCam and eg. the screen overclocking).

Now at the very least I would like to do a "clean install", I mean uninstall all the bloatware (if any.. I don't know if Xiaomi put them or not).
And if possible root it and install a good custom ROM.

The last time I played with rooting and custom ROMs was almost 5 years ago.
And I wanted to know if for this Xiaomi it's worth it (to change the ROM - I guess that a custom ROM will not lose some feature like the popup cam..) and if so what could be the process?

I found many resources and I'm kinda lost a little..

    Thank you very much..

    Mi 9T Charger?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 02:01 PM PDT

Hi, I recently just purchased a Mi 9T Global version. It comes with an EU power adapter but I need a UK adapter instead. Just wondering what charger would be the best to get the most out of the 18w fast charge feature?

Should I buy a EU to UK converter or a new adaptor from Belkin or Anker?

    Thanks!

Need advice on Mi 9T (sd 730)

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 12:23 PM PDT

Hey guys. I'm interested in getting a Mi 9T as my new phone and I have browsing previous posts here for quite some time and I have some questions about the SD 730 of this Mi 9T. Based on all previous posts, I saw most of the comments saying "as long as you don't play game", "non-gamer" etc. and the 730 would be just fine. I am not a heavy gamer and I only play MOBA games with my friends maybe for 2-5 hours per day. Otherwise, I would just use my phone for reading and social media.

Would this 'gaming' habit cause any side effect/degradation or anything if I buy the Mi 9T? (not much of a tech guy, so please don't scorn me)

Wallpapers keep changing to default theme randomly (Mi 9T)

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 09:48 AM PDT

Title. I used a custom 3rd party font, and now MIUI changes my lock screen and homescreen wallpaper back to default every few hours. Does anyone know a workaround for this? I've even tried uninstalling the theme manager app through ADB, but it didn't help.
