What is the app lock assistant Posted: 20 Aug 2019 07:13 PM PDT Every time I turn my phone on it keeps saying, This is a contract phone. If the phone number is in arrears, this phone will be locked but I'm not on a plan and I don't owe any money and an app called lockassistant brings up the message once I close the app the message doesn't come up what is it ? Questions about "Do Not Disturb" Automatic Event Rules Posted: 20 Aug 2019 06:12 PM PDT I'll preface by stating I'm a college student trying to automatically silence his phone during classes and that I'm running a Pixel 3 with the latest Android 9.0. I'm currently trying to setup my phone to automatically silence during my classes which span at certain days throughout the week and at certain times throughout the days. I want it to turn on "Do Not Disturb" mode during class time and turn it off after the class period is over. So looking into the automatic rules for events in my settings I have two concerns:
I will end by saying I would prefer not to use a time rule to turn on my "Do Not Disturb" mode because it will also keep the mode on between my classes. And I would prefer not to use Tasker or any other third-party automation apps to accomplish this. [link] [comments] |
Disable Google's "saving audio to:" notification Posted: 20 Aug 2019 05:57 PM PDT I've been having a hell of a time with my phone the past couple of days (S9). First, it began becoming indescribably slow to respond to touch inputs (despite being fine after a soft restart for 5 minutes), so I deleted all of my settings and cache, deleted a ton of apps. I JUST now figured out how to disable Samsung talk to text to get my Google back (I was going crazy...) but now every time I click the talk to text button a prompt comes up: "saving audio to:", now, I don't care that it's saving audio, as this helps to make my keyboard more accurate. However, I've never received this notification before, so HOW can I TURN IT OFF?? Please and thank you! I've been in a really bad place this month, and little things like this are really compiling and heavily damaging my mental health. [link] [comments] |

Why do some apps make my phone so hot? Posted: 20 Aug 2019 05:09 PM PDT They arent graphically intensive or anything. I understand that there is most likely something nefarious going on but I'd like to know what that (generally) is. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Aug 2019 07:39 PM PDT Have a phone with 2 SIMs. Would like to use a different texting program with each so I can have different autotexts for personal and business. Possible? [link] [comments] |
iPhone to Android conversion - Questions I couldn't find answers to Posted: 20 Aug 2019 11:57 AM PDT I know this is a long post, but if anyone can answer these, I'll be very grateful. I'm really trying to love the Android experience, but these feel like serious hindrances that are also big oversights. Most have to do with lock screen and AOD. Switched back to Android last Friday. Galaxy S10+. Love it for all the Android-y multi-tasking, features, and customization I have. Hate it for how it handles basic smartphone tasks. This list is of the things that I've searched a ton on and just can't find a clear-cut answer on. Hoping people can point me to places I couldn't find, or give me new info. 1- Answer is that AOD settings are just replicated from lock screen settings. Can't differentiate. 2 - Unlock straight to notification's app just with tap - On the lock screen, after it's unlocked the phone with my face, if I tap a notification, it then tells me to swipe to unlock. Is there not a way to bypass the swipe requirement? It seems silly to have to do both if I've already authenticated myself with the phone. Way to make it so swiping the the notification a certain direction is open to app and other direction is remove? I'm still testing double tapping. Using different SMS apps to see if behavior is different.
Can't make arrow bigger but can just swipe down on notification instead. 4 - No answer so far. I'm guessing it's not adjustable. 5 - I'm guessing not a solution for this either. But glad some are confirming they've notice this too. 6 - Looks like no OS wide setup for this. I will try a keyboard that has it built in. Thank you everyone for contributing to this. Some of the key things were resolved and I appreciate that. Edit: Crossing stuff out as solved. Edit: Spelling. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 20 Aug 2019 03:45 PM PDT As the internal 128 GB is enough for me, I just want to safe private data (like images, documents, etc.) on my SD card, but no apps nor app files. The problem is, after formatting the SD card, there will be an "Android" folder very soon with "data"-folders like "com.sec.android.gallery3d". Can I somehow tell my phone to not touch the SD card and do everything with the internal storage? [link] [comments] |
Can't use and login with Google Play Services Posted: 20 Aug 2019 02:28 PM PDT So, I originally thought that the issue was limited to Pokemon Go when I tried to enable Adventure Sync (a feature that uses Google Play Services to link the game to a fitness tracker to track movement outside of the game) Old phone: Oneplus 3T Look here if you want to see what it looks like for me. It's the same across both of my phones, and I can't seem to find anything similar online. Any help is appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Aug 2019 11:22 AM PDT I know via Android Auto doing this is possible but I'm wondering if this is just the current limitation of Bluetooth or if this is something that could be implemented in the future? [link] [comments] |
How to expand storage? (Galaxy Tab s3, Android version: 8.0) Posted: 20 Aug 2019 03:20 PM PDT So, I'm starting to run out of space and it's getting in the way a bit. I wanted to install some more games, but they're rather large. So I went out and bought a 64 gb SD card, but when I move apps onto my SD card, it barely moves anything and hardly any space is saved from doing this. Is there any way I can expand my storage? I read some android devices can format SD card as internal storage, but this is not possible with my device. Any help and tips appreciated!! thank you! [link] [comments] |
Working WhatsApp call recorder? Posted: 20 Aug 2019 07:00 PM PDT Hi, I am using Honor 6x and I want to record whatsapp calls. And no the voice calls are not automatically saved inside whatsapp calls folder in file manager ( checked multiple times ). Can anyone please suggest how to actually voice record whatsapp calls? Posted: 20 Aug 2019 09:54 PM PDT So, I went online and tried to find it. Saw it located a few blocks away, but they then turned the phone off. I do have the lock screen activated, but I sort of realized I'm not getting this thing back. I went onto my provider website and suspended service on my phone. I then went to click Erase (On the android browser app), but I quickly realized it may not work if I have suspended service (and the phone off, of course) ? [link] [comments] |

The switch from laptop to smartphone Posted: 20 Aug 2019 03:00 AM PDT Smartphones are becoming more and more computing. More and more efforts are being made on the specifications of these devices. But are you going along with this trend, is your mobile phone becoming more and more your laptop? In This survey I will be asking you a couple of questions that help me in my research. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
OPPO Color OS notification icons - possible to change to black/white? Posted: 20 Aug 2019 02:42 PM PDT Color OS has coloured notification icons (no pun intended) that are hard to read/recognise based on what background they are and how well they scale. Is there a way to turn them to the black/white versions that stock Android etc use? For example see this screenshot and the badly scaled GMail icon in notifications area in Color OS: https://i.imgur.com/5wgDTtl.jpg Stock: https://i.imgur.com/RVEBje9.jpg [link] [comments] |

On my 2nd Android phone now in two weeks, looking for a 3rd. iPhone user. Needs help. Posted: 20 Aug 2019 11:20 AM PDT Slightly disastrous start to the Android world but still determined. Looking for a device that has a 'raise to wake feature' The info on Google is so unclear. It's like you hear it came to Samsung One UI - maybe it did but not every Samsung device. Or I read it's available on Android 7 and above, mine is a 2019 Samsung A10 and there is no raise to wake feature. I need it because it's for my Grandma. Setting it up for her to make it as simple as possible for her. I started with an iPhone for her, nope, then a 2019 Nokia, nope due to no single tap to answer feature (she cannot swipe to answer so easily). And now the Samsung A10 finally has a 'single tap to swipe' feature. BUT unlike the Nokia it has no lift to wake feature! I feel like I am in maze, lost in the Android infinite world of options, determined to get out but slightly lost! Due to her age it's not feasible to get the latest S8 or Note 8 and above. She also doesn't need any of the latest cameras or anything like that. But, simply, a raise to wake feature on a Samsung device is all she needs at this stage. Seems like all or most Samsung's have the 'single tap to swipe' option. So just trying to find a new model in the budget range now that has the 'lift to wake feature' [link] [comments] |

How to disable infinite scrolling with google searches? Posted: 20 Aug 2019 11:14 AM PDT Google implemented this "more results" button at the bottom of a page of search results. When you hit it, it just loads more pages. The problem is that when you go into a site then back out to the results again, the search reverts right back to the top. Is there a way to disable this? Help me to choose between these two Android phones. (Coming from iOS) Posted: 20 Aug 2019 06:42 PM PDT Hi, i am an iPhone 5S user looking to change to android and i have two options currently. The Xiaomi Mi 9T(maybe the pro) and the Samsung A70. But as i don't have many experience with any of these phones (i barely used the A70 and i liked it) but never phisically used the mi 9T, everybody says it's a steal for the price and performance, some even call it the king of the medium tier, is one of my options because of my good past experiences tinkering with my father's xiaomi 4x. Some points:
So basically have some questions or doubts on points that maybe someone can help me with:

No call notification popup nor ring Posted: 20 Aug 2019 12:32 PM PDT It doesn't pop up nor ring when I'm getting a call since an update I did last night, unless it's a starred contact. Do Not Disturb is not on, volume is up, ringtone is fine. It doesn't work in Safe Mode, either. This makes no sense. It shows in missed calls and the voicemail notification will pop up if they leave one. [link] [comments] |
