Spam in my default Android Calendar app?

    Posted: 25 Aug 2019 03:55 PM PDT

Just noticed spam ads on every day of the coming week in my default Android calendar app (connected to my gmail account). It was an ad for an iPhone with a 'bestbuy' link that I obviously didn't use.

I should have screenshotted before deleting those events but that's basically all there is to it.

Googled around and didn't find anything about this specific issue.

Does anyone know exactly what's going on? I don't install a lot of apps. And of the ones I do have, I carefully manage their permissions. I haven't had any gmail security notifications either (I get alerts whenever I log in from a new location). So I don't really know what's going on.

Does anyone know where this might be coming from or have any suggestions for things I should look into?

I just have no idea what's editing my calendar and where the vulnerability lies.

    Keyboard flow woes

    Posted: 25 Aug 2019 09:51 PM PDT

Depression is 50% chemical and 50% trying to use cell phone keyboards.

This thing is driving me batty. It doesn't learn. Generally the correct word appears as a suggestion, but rarely does it type the correct one. It can be counted on to make the same mistakes. It Also randomly capitalizes and drops a space betweenwords.

I have to go over every sentence because every 3rd word is a mistake.

Using the LG stock keyboard and the really popular one for flowing. Might begin with S. The only non-stock thing i do is not allow net access.

    Anyone else?

    Android 9 Bluetooth calling issues

    Posted: 25 Aug 2019 04:57 PM PDT

Relevant info Oneplus 3t (resurrection remix, lineage, oos)

I've been using the one plus 3t for a while now however ever since android 9 came to it I have had issues with calling on Bluetooth. When making a call on Bluetooth the sound gets all crackly and is not understandable. I've tried oxygen os, lineage os, and currently resurrection remix and only on their android 9 based ROMs I have this issue and not on any android 8 based. I've tried different Bluetooth devices, calling different contacts with no luck. Music works perfectly just calling is the issue. Any suggestions?

Weird bar graph on my screen

    Posted: 25 Aug 2019 02:13 PM PDT

Hello, I was listening to music and when I unlocked my phone I saw a real time graph(?) like those bandwidth graphs. It would keep moving and it would get faster if I started to scroll down. I went to chrome to look up what this is and the bar graph disappeared from most of the screen but it was still running in the back because I could see the spikes in my notification bar. The graph also would completely disappear if I go to my lock screen. I have no idea what this graph is for or how I turned it on. I freaked out and rebooted my phone and it was still there when my phone was shutting down (like the whole screen is black with a loading icon). When it turned on again it was gone. What is this graph for?

Combo Jack works, but it's tedious to make it work.

    Posted: 25 Aug 2019 01:54 PM PDT

So I have a gaming headset, which has the audio jack and the micro jack, but it has also an adapter to convert these two jacks to a 3-stride jack, or combo jack. The thing is that the headset only works when I connect the audio jack to the adapter micro jack and then I reconnect it to the adapter audio jack, although it only works if the phone doesn't detect that the jack has been disconnected (i.e. the music does not pause). So it seems like a software problem, but I haven't been able to find any answer in my 20-30 minute search, any ideas?

BTW: It works perfectly when connected to the PS4 controller and my phone is an Xperia X Compact.

    Repeat Notifications with Reminder Off?

    Posted: 25 Aug 2019 07:10 PM PDT

I have reminder notifications disabled, yet I keep getting notifications that I've already cleared. The timestamp on the reoccuring notification will be the original time stamp. For instance, I just had a Facebook notification that came through again but the time stamp was 7:47PM, twenty minutes ago. Everything is up to date and it seems to happen across the board, not one app specifically.

    Samsung Galaxy Note 8 OneUI version - 1.0 Android version - 9

I would appreciate any support as Google points to Samsung and Samsung points to Google. It's caused me to leave my phone on DND the majority of the time.

    Phone App Sound

    Posted: 25 Aug 2019 07:10 PM PDT

My NUU A3 has a problem with calls. Right after the call is answered, I have to press the phone sound button for me to hear the other party. They can hear me just fine without intervention. It seems like the ear speaker sound is muted by default. I want to change this annoyance. Thoughts? All sound options in Settings Sound are on. Nougat.

Cheap but decent phone for ONLY GPS?

    Posted: 25 Aug 2019 06:01 PM PDT

I'm looking for a cheap but simple phone for Google Maps. I don't want to mount my Note 10+ on my motorcycle and have it accidentally fall off or have the sensors vibrated to oblivion. I have a charger on my bike so power shouldn't be an issue but picking a phone that can access GPS with out cell service is exactly what I'm looking for.

I updated my phone and now i have no space despite having nothing on the phone.

    Posted: 25 Aug 2019 05:19 PM PDT

Hi, so this is quite frustrating. I have the Samsung Galaxy J320 2016. I had it for awhile until i got the iPhone 6S. Recently my iphone had broken so i needed a backup phone so i got out my only other one which was the J3. Anyway I updated it. Ive never heard of this problem that i have but basically ive factory reset the phone but i have no space whatsoever. 7.8 gigabytes out of 8.0.. okay.. so i factory reset it again, same problem. Booted into recovery mode and cleared cache. Still not fixed.

I decided to use odin and try to downgrade back to marshmallow. Couldnt find the firmware for the life of me but I finally did. I successfully downgraded but the samsung store did not work, which i wanted to use for themes and other stuffi had bought... and it had many other problems as well. so then i searched for root for 7.1.1 but root only exist for 6.0.1. Im pretty much stuck. Please help me find a way to fix this i am incredibly dissapointed.

Pixel Launcher vs Quickstep: What's the difference?

    Posted: 25 Aug 2019 12:19 PM PDT

The Pixel Launcher (for Pixel phones) and Quickstep (for Android One devices) are essentially the same, but what are the differences between the two?

On Android One devices, I noticed the Google widget turns into an app search bar when you pull up the app drawer. Also, the Google widget shows a microphone icon instead of the Assistant icon like on Pixel Launcher.

Stuck pixel only on always on display

    Posted: 25 Aug 2019 04:01 PM PDT

Like the title says, I've found a stuck pixel (green) on my phone but only when always on display is active.

As soon as I completely unlock my phone it disappears and starts working again. Could it be caused by a software issue?

I tried using several wallpapers for lockscreen and desktop (black, white, red color) and I am 100% that the pixel goes back to working fine after the unlock

    Any ideas?

    Galaxy a70

Edit: I'll specify that the green pixel is visible on always on and on the lock screen (where I see notifications and pin unlock) and disappears right after

Bluetooth Keyboard Momentarily Disconnects on Galaxy S10e and Galaxy Tab A but not iPhone SE

    Posted: 25 Aug 2019 03:48 PM PDT

I had a brilliant idea a while ago: Instead of shell out money on an expensive laptop, just buy a 50 dollar Bluetooth keyboard from logitech that I can use on my phone, Tablet, and desktop PC. The keyboard itself is lovely. It worked great on my old iPhone. However, it was not so lovely on my tablet. Sometimes it would connect fine, othertimes my tablet would give me a "could not connect to keyboard" message.

After upgrading to a Galaxy S10e, I decided to see how well the keyboard would work on it. For the most part, it works alright. I wrote this entire post on my phone using it. But every so often when pressing the spacebar, it will freeze up, and a message saying "English US" will show up at the bottem of my screen and make me miss a space in text.

How do I get the keyboard working on my android devices so Ican have some reliable notetakers for the new quarter?

Get rid of "continue with" email suggestions.

    Posted: 25 Aug 2019 01:43 PM PDT

So, recently I tried making a new account for Spotify and I noticed that this box came up with a few suggestions for what email to use. The problem is, one of the emails on this list belongs to a family member and isn't mine. Is it possible to get rid of this email or disable the feature entirely? I've noticed that removing my Google account from my phone gets rid of it but the box comes back when I re-add my Google account. Also, I'm on the OnePlus 7 Pro running Android Pie

Any idea on how to "parent control" my parents' phones?

    Posted: 25 Aug 2019 01:22 PM PDT

My parents are both technology illiterate. They keep messing around with god knows what all day, and it's always me that has to fix the problem. Sunday is my only day off and I spent the whole day trying to fix my father's J7 Prime after he "downloaded a new navigation app". The phone finally bricked and I had to nuke it to get it running again. I couldnt even backup his contacts, just plain wiped everything. I handed him the phone after I was done and he headed right into the play store to get his apps all over again. I'm pretty sure I saw something about a parental control on Google Play. I'm looking for something that will block my parents from downloading apps without my permission, and block access to sites if possible.

This is something that has been bothering me since they both got smartphones. I was able to help my father today, but I ranted the whole time. It's not nice to rant while helping someone, but this has become something more than an annoyance. I'm at my wits end, and I dont want to snap on my parents because of a stupid phone. Please help me.

Samsung internet app opening random tabs

    Posted: 25 Aug 2019 04:34 AM PDT

My Samsung tab S has suddenly started opening random tabs trough the default internet app. The tabs open through bit.ly and get redirected to indian cooking recipes etc. I've had the tablet for years and I've never had any problems with it, and these problems started right after I did a factory reset on my tab S. I've tried looking for a malicious app without success, downloads folder is empty, bitdefender can't find the issue. Only apps that I've installed are chrome, bitdefender, netflix, and viaplay.

Anyone use a android remote controll(er)? How do you program the buttons?

    Posted: 25 Aug 2019 01:17 PM PDT

Are those handheld bluetooth controllers just for TV and games or can you get them to work with any app on your phone?

My desired use is to be able to choose the difficulty level of a word on a flashcard app called Anki. During an outdoor run I can hear the audio flashcard but pressing a button on the screen is very inconvenient. A controller would work perfectly though if I could map a certain zone to a button.

Phone Loops Between Flashing Red Light and Red Light

    Posted: 25 Aug 2019 11:57 AM PDT

Here's my problem reddit. I plug in my phone to charge via USB to my laptop. First it's flashing red for around 20-30 mins, then it makes that noise (small vibration sound) and the red light comes on, no more flashing. (If I press the power button it now shows animation of charging but the battery is stuck near 0.)

After around 10-15 mins it makes that same vibration noise and goes back to flashing red. (Not sure if it's trying to connect to the PC and doesn't have enough power to do so, so it goes back to flashing red?)

So it just loops around like this between flashing red and non-stop red light.

I've tried to do a restart via the power+volume up but the phone dies again and goes into flashing red before I can restart.

Phone is Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, around 1.5 years old. No significant battery issues until this happened, altho there was a small decrease in screen time this year. I don't have the tools to open it up and do a hard reset by removing the battery.

Possibly related, few days before this happened I broke a paperclip that stayed partially inside while trying to open the sim tray. However looking at videos online the battery doesn't seem to go that far up so it's unlikely that I punctured it. The pin is still visible in the the tray area so it seems unlikely that it got jammed in some sensitive area altho I'm not expert.

Anything else I can try on my own before going to the shop?

    Roaming isn't working

    Posted: 25 Aug 2019 11:52 AM PDT

Currently I'm in Italy, which isn't my country of residence so my carrier isn't from there. It's also in the EU, so I thought that roaming would work normally. But since I've left my country, my data doesn't work. I've switched the roaming on and off various times, as well as restarting my phone, but none of that seems to work. Do you guys know how can I solve this problem? If it helps, my carrier is Lowi and my phone is a OnePlus 5
