Posted: 14 Aug 2019 02:37 PM PDT I got an email that someone had purchased a hacked gaming account linked to my account. This had explained why I had not been able to access it for years. I actually had to buy a new Minecraft account. They emailed me explaining that they only had limited access to my Minecraft account and they wanted to buy the full account from me, claiming they had bought it on "Altrips". This stems from a major Minecraft data breech where millions of accounts were compromised. It seems my data was sold online. This person bought my Minecraft account on Altrips, and they don't have full access. So I didn't respond to their email, changed my gmail password, and reported it to Minecraft support. However, Minecraft support seems to be on summer break because they're still looking at cases from May. The person from New Jersey keeps trying to log in to my email and reset it in attempts to gain access to my Minecraft or something. They must have learned what happens when you try to buy Minecraft accounts online lol, the karma. I know their email address, age, and state. I just want this to stop. So this stupid person thought they could just try and buy the whole account after they got finessed by hackers online. Is there anyway that google can handle this? How can I seek repercussions for this person? They are a continual threat to my security. They continually try to reset my google account password. I'm kinda sick of this person from New Jersey trying to login to my account. [link] [comments] |

Panicking - "Highly Corrupted" Word File Posted: 15 Aug 2019 12:55 AM PDT I'm running Windows 10 on a custom-built PC, and while operating Office 365 (a little over an hour ago now), I was working on a novel. I have been making incredible headway and truly loving the process, and I was literally just looking at the goddamned text, but while I was reviewing my last chapter, my computer crashed. Worse yet, it crashed while Word was in the middle of an autosave. Everything froze on me. I tried everything I knew, but the system was completely unresponsive, so after about ten minutes or so, I restarted it. Anyway, I tried to open the file and Word informed me it was corrupted, then asked me if I wanted to try to open it anyway. I said yes. It still couldn't recover the file. The very first thing I did afterward and have continued to do is to make copies of the file. But I've looked up a bunch of different methods, and I couldn't get any of them to work. I tried opening a copy in Notepad and found only blank text. I tried opening previous versions of the original and all copies, but could find nothing. I tried checking to see if there were previous versions of the folder the file was in -- still nothing. All of my word files should have version histories, but I can't access any of them. After fumbling around with the command prompt, I downloaded SysTools Word Recovery on the advice of some generic tech website and tried to salvage a copy of the file (the evaluation offers you a preview, and if you like what you see, you can buy it): the message? "File is highly corrupted. No preview is available." Please. If there is anything you can do to help, please let me know? I'm spiraling out over here. This was an unparalleled breakthrough for me, and I desperately want to know if my momentum is lost for good. So many of my previous efforts to write novels have gone to shit, but this one time, I was finally managing to outwrite my insecurities. It was probably trash, but god damn it, it was my trash, and I loved it. I was just staring right at it. How can it be gone? As I mentioned earlier, this was my first custom PC: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 with stock cooler, Gigabyte B450, Nvidia GeForce 1060 GPU,16GB DDR4 -3000, 1 TB SSD, 2TB mechanical hard drive (not being read), and...I think that covers it. Is Cloning a HDD necessary when upgrading to a new one? (no Windows install) Posted: 15 Aug 2019 02:31 AM PDT I'm upgrading a from a 2TB HDD to a 4TB HDD. There isn't a Windows install on this drive, mostly just media files and documents. Is it necessary for me to clone the HDDs or can/should I just copy & paste stuff over and change the drive letter after I swap the drives? I'm currently using a dock to plug in the 4 TB one. C:\Users\dflor\AppData\Local\Temp\ shows up when I try to copy and paste. Posted: 14 Aug 2019 10:46 PM PDT I recently bought a laptop for gaming and editing. It's been working great for about two weeks but I am having an issue when I try to copy and paste. Every time I paste something This pops up. C:\Users\dflor\AppData\Local\Temp\PRODUCT_NAME_UNKNOWN_CrashDumpPRODUCT_VERSION_MAJOR_UNKNOWN-PRODUCT_VERSION_MINOR_UNKNOWN-2019-08-15--00-37-38_.dmp I've been trying to do research but nothing has been helping. I tried deleting the files but they keep popping up every second. Is it a virus? I feel like it is cause I did try to use some sketchy websites to download Youtube videos to mp3. Could that be it? Posted: 15 Aug 2019 02:05 AM PDT I was messing with some setting (I think it was somewhere in control panel) and once i changed it, my monitor went to the static screen and is just saying that the DVI cable is incorrect. There's nothing wrong with the cable itself, everything was working perfectly fine before. Honestly, I have no idea what could have caused it and I can't find other people with this problem. I realise this isn't a lot to work with, but any leads? Detail I forgot to mention: if I turn the monitor on and then my computer, it displays windows booting up before going static and saying Cable Incorrect. update: Windows will boot in safe mode, so the cable/monitor definitely isnt the problem. another update: everything works perfectly fine if i start in low resolution video mode update 3: from low resolution mode, I can manually set the resolution back to 1080p, but when i change the framerate from 60hz to 144hz (what it was before) it says the DVI cable is incorrect as usual before windows automatically changes it back. final update: It was AMD Radeon Settings - I clicked "Radeon Settings Advisor" and enabled the option "Resolution & Refresh Rate - Native" I now realised I have a completely different problem: setting my framerate higher than 60fps causes my computer to not recognize that my monitor is even plugged in. Pc not showing anything but boots up Posted: 14 Aug 2019 09:26 PM PDT Having some problems with my pc that I recently swapped out the cpu and ram and was wondering if I could get some help at first it turned on, lights were on and fans were spinning, rgb on the ram was showing, but nothing would load up or show. On the motherboard on the ez debug light area the light was going from cpu to ram over and over After I guess putting the ram back inside again (I honestly don't know if that's what worked) the machine boots up and is like hey you have new stuff let's take you to the bios I mess around in the bios to see what's good in the hood. And I see all my new stuff but my ram is at 2133 even though the motherboard supports 2666 so I change it from auto to the 2666 profile After that it did this thing where it was stuck on a loading bar telling me auto repair. It would move in a circle for one rotation then freeze midway. I figure I messed up with the frequency so I reboot and change everything to auto and it does the same loading screen stuck thing I switch out the ram sticks to my old one to see if it's the ram and it still does the loading screen thing So I go to switch them back as I figure it's not the ram that's messing it up, but now the led on the ez debug is simply stuck on dram and not moving like last time. I tried re-seating it, taking the little circle battery out for a bit, putting a screw driver to over load the cmos. Switching back and forth from ram, only putting in one stick of the new one, booting it up with no ram, and it still always stays stuck on the dram led. What can I do? [link] [comments] |
Windows 10 reset: PC failed to reset Posted: 14 Aug 2019 08:54 PM PDT I tried to reset my laptop to factory settings but about %6 in it when back to the blue screen and said reset failed or something, nothing has changed. I looked at a bunch of tutorials including with command prompt but none worked. I'm also not looking to reset it to a earlier point in time and am trying to erase all of my files also. Another tutorial said to update it but then it said error encountered: couldn't connect to update service. [link] [comments] |

Cloud 2 mic not working after getting a new drive Posted: 15 Aug 2019 04:11 AM PDT Hi My PC only had one drive. A 1TB ssd. For some reason it stopped working, and I shipped my computer to get fixed. It's only one year old. They installed a new 1TB ssd. I was installing the usual gamer stuff yesterday but when I tested CSGO, I noticed the mic didn't register. There's a playback feature in CSGO. I tried troubleshoot and what else I could think of, but no sound is being registered when I talk. It's stuck on 0.0 DB. I cannot move that bar: (Sorry about the Danish) The drivers are up to date and according to device manager the device is working as intented. There's also a configure button, but it wont let me do anything because of it's in Danish. The headset is plugged in to USB, and I have tried other ports. What's my next step? I really don't see any reason why the mic should not be working on a hardware level. That would be so random, as the mic has not been plugged in for 5 weeks, and it has just been on my desk. Creating a imput source from 2 different microphone, need help Posted: 15 Aug 2019 04:06 AM PDT I want to create a Micro that includes both my blue yeti and the headsed wireless mic i have always disabled, it would be usefull to use it only on Discord to talk with my friends only on discord, but I still want to keep using only the Blue Yeti for the streaming. Obv if there is no way to change it i can use it as main imput source in every use of my pc, but if we can dodge that bullet I would be grate because will be hard to re-set another time everything i setted on the Blue Yeti mic I tried to create something on Voiceover banana but if I use one of the Microphone Imput created by it, it doesn't capture my voice on Discord, that's not working. That's the configuration I did, if it's right, tell me what i'm still missing please. [link] [comments] |

The latest Windows 10 update makes me unable to access the internet! Posted: 15 Aug 2019 04:02 AM PDT Hello, I have Windows 10 64 bit on an Asus laptop. Last night my computer worked wonderfully. This morning i turned it on and it updated, like it often does. But I didnt have internet access. In the tray where the WiFi icon normally is there is now an icon of a globe with a small ø over it and if I click it I get only the option of turning on airplane mode and to go to network and internet settings. When I click troubleshoot problems it says my driver is outdated. I used my mobile to download and transfer the newest driver for my network adapter but when I run the driver it says that a newer version is already installed. What can I do? Thank you in advance for any help! I am a medical student who is soon doing my final exams and I cant go without internet for a Long time [link] [comments] |

Posted: 14 Aug 2019 09:50 PM PDT Is it possible for a person searching through my computer to know that I'm splitting my HDMI to two monitors (if I use an HDMI distribution amplifier)? My employer has full remote access to my computer. Long story I can't share, but it would be obvious and easily caught if I had two monitors running, but if I can split my signal, I could record the second monitor. Please let me know if you think this will work. [link] [comments] |
How to access the data in the HDD of a Seagate personal cloud Posted: 15 Aug 2019 03:48 AM PDT My Seagate personal cloud seems to have developed some sort of snag with its networking interface, and it is not detected in the network anymore. I purchased an external disk enclosure and put the HDD from personal cloud in the enclosure. Unfortunately I am unable to read the data from the disk. My Macbook says that it can't read it. It does detect it as a storage disk, and its capacity etc (when I choose "initilaize" option). I also tried a Windows 10 machine but it does not even say or show anything. Kindly advice on how I may retrieve the data in the disk. [link] [comments] |
Constant different BSODs and freeze on black screen/sleep Posted: 15 Aug 2019 03:41 AM PDT My PC crashes 2-3 a day each time with a different BSOD error. Sometimes, I come back to my PC to a blacks creen as if it went to sleep, but it refuses to wake the #%@# up. A few BSOD's I've gotten recently

XBOX ONE controller keeps randomly pressing A Posted: 15 Aug 2019 03:41 AM PDT Recently my controller on PC has started hitting A on its own. The button does not get stuck but often after I press A a second or a couple seconds later it presses on its own. And sometimes it just does it randomly. Any advice. Posted: 14 Aug 2019 11:52 PM PDT A French-based site for instrumental music - virtual-beat.com - stopped playing all audio since a few weeks ago. Any instrumental i click on just reloads the main page, instead of playing in a new page as usual. Most (if not all) other links on the site, except ads, also behave as reload buttons for some reason. The site only allows me to log in and out, and write and receive messages from users. All audio on the site in in mp3 format, but it's the only site where i can't play them. Other users of the site have no such problems, comments and ratings are daily left on instrumentals, and new beats added each day. i was told the site isn't location restricted nor registration conditioned for playing its content, but open for all. Though i've tried clearing all site data and history (cache, cookies, etc.), disabling antivirus and firewall, changing/flushing various DNS servers, going over France through 2 different VPNs, trying with different up-to-date browsers, doing a router reset and checking my hosts file isn't blocking anything, the problem remains, including on android phone. My internet provider couldn't help either, the site apparently behaves the same on their side as well. They only suggested that it could be caused by my IP being behind a NAT (which it is, but can't be helped by my ISP). A direct link to any of the site's mp3 files reports this error in Firefox: Corrupted Content Error. The site has experienced a network protocol violation that cannot be repaired. The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because an error in the data transmission was detected. Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem. And this error in Chrome: This site can't be reached. Server IP address could not be found. DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN i noticed that if any of the site's direct mp3 links is entered in Chrome and Opera, the slash symbol "/" after .com is deducted from the address on its own, after which it reports the error above, as if being unable to follow the correct direct link (i have no problem opening direct mp3 links on other sites). Also, even after clearing entire browser history and data, it won't sign me out of a session until i manually sign-out from the site's form. It worked great until recently, is there anything i can do to play the tracks again? Thank you for any help or suggestion. [link] [comments] |
I was just told that leaving my USB drive plugged in is draining its life cycles. Posted: 14 Aug 2019 08:04 PM PDT I notice it feels warm (not hot) after an hour despite the fact that it is not being used. I tend to stick it in, access whatever files I need and forget it about it. My friend advised me that the reason it feels warm is that the computer is constantly accessing it even though I am not myself. Is he right? [link] [comments] |
Why have my USB 3.0 ports suddenly stopped working? Posted: 14 Aug 2019 11:49 PM PDT PC gamer noob with a strange issue now present. I dont know if im supposed to list specs here, but just in case: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/548223504118448161/611450108285812776/unknown.png I will say that the MB has two USB 3.0 drives and the tower shell has a single USB 3.0 drive for a total of 3. Sadly, i never got the shell's 3.0 port to work from the start but, being noob, didnt really mind since i was just happy to have what i consider an enormous upgrade from laptop gaming. I didnt even know that there were another 2x USB3.0 ports in the back, but apparently my mouse has been plugged into one all along and it's been working just fine, until tonight. A friend was going to walk me through the Magicka (on steam) tutorial tonight so we could jam some ridiculousness tomorrow. When roaming through graphics options, i went to v-sync (because as a noob i assumed that this was useful/healthy to do with most games?) While trying to v-sync, the entire PC froze. Then after force restarting, it suddenly went through a random windows update (which is also weird because i have forced updates turned off and was never given the option to accept any updates at all), then restarted itself again and resumed the rest of the update. Getting back to desktop, i noticed my mouse wasnt working anymore. It happened to be plugged into USB 3.0. I checked the 2.0 ports with it and it showed up again 100% fine. I also tried plugging the keyboard/mem stick into both back 3.0 ports, and neither worked. So far, i've tried to go into Device Manager and auto-update the drivers, but all are seemingly fine/updated without any displayed warning signs. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/548223504118448161/611447844234067968/unknown.png So me thinking i can outsmart the windows auto-update that i did not even get a chance to decline, i tried to system restore. I had run into an AMD related driver issue for Ragnarok about a week ago and after finally figuring out that it was a driver update issue, i reverted back to the previous edition and then made a save point.... except that apparently did nothing because this new update completely erased the save point i had just made. When i went to select it, it was gone -_-At this point, my knowledge pretty much stops. I did however come across some other opinions from various threads, and this guy's issue kinda got to me with the update: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/548223504118448161/611449179734278145/unknown.png If it happens to be a MB issue i would understand, but seeing as how that windows update was present (and how the last time i updated, something else also got wrecked), im guessing it has something to do with that? But without the driver warning sign even showing up, i have no idea which of those listed drivers it could be. If anyone has any sort of useful advice or guidance, i would very much appreciate the help! EDIT: it turns out that both 3.0 ports aren't fried, as they're still charging my phone but not registering anything beyond that. I actually tested the one in front attached to the shell too, and it is also working for charging. Going to attempt BIOS settings.. EDIT 2: BIOS didnt work. The settings for USB 3.0 were already enabled.... HOWEVER, the past couple of restarts have been hitting me with ghost USB connection noises. Not disconnect/reconnect, but only one single connection sound upon startup when nothing is being plugged in. I went looking for info on this and realized that Device Manger has a 'show hidden devices' option in the View tab, which is utterly f'n stupid because it went from this: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/548223504118448161/611447844234067968/unknown.png to this: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/548223504118448161/611511709219422248/unknown.png And there is my missing 3.0 USB at the bottom dulled out in grey, which was basically the entire root of this damned problem. Currently the device is not connected to the computer (although it most definitely already was), but again it does charge my phone and its drivers are installed/up to date. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Aug 2019 03:34 AM PDT Earlier tonight I got a text from Instagram giving me a code to login however I and my girlfriend did not log into my account. I checked Instagrams account activity and logins and there was a login at the same time but I'm not sure if it was a successful login or an attempted login. What I'm worried about is if it was a successful login then is it possible someone cloned my SIM card and got that message and I'm not sure what to do now [link] [comments] |
