What software do YOU install after a new build? Posted: 20 Aug 2019 02:58 AM PDT I'm building today for the first time in a decade, which is exciting, but I feel like I could use some tips on testing/getting my new rig ready to rock! Thinking of anything from:

Ebay seller increased shipping from $13.40 to $760.40 Posted: 20 Aug 2019 06:49 AM PDT Not sure how common this is, or how it's even possible... Ebay seller was listing a 1080 ti for $315, I fell for it. To be even more stupid, I offered $300. To my surprise, the offer was accepted this morning. But sometime after my offer was submitted and before my offer was accepted, the seller increased the shipping charges from $13.40 to $760.40. I didn't pay for it. But just another reminder eBay is full of scammers and I hope no one falls victim by hitting the pay button before realizing the seller changed the shipping fees. Does anyone else play the "but if i spend $£€ more i could get....." game when building Posted: 20 Aug 2019 07:58 AM PDT Does anyone else go around in circles because they have a clear set of requirements but a loose budget line that keeps more expensive options open that are past your needs? Posted: 20 Aug 2019 11:50 AM PDT I've been working off and on for the last five months to scratch build a fanless gaming PC. Lots of trial and error involved, particularly in the heat pipes and mounts, but I finally finished a couple days ago. I figured the good folks here might appreciate the build, even though it isn't boasting the best of the best internals. [link] [comments]
Upgrading from i3 8100 to i7 8700 Posted: 19 Aug 2019 11:59 PM PDT Will I need to update the bios on my msi z370 gaming plus motherboard to go from the i3 8100 to i7 8700? Thanks :) [link] [comments]
Building a PC with a budget of 1000-1500 euros Posted: 20 Aug 2019 02:54 AM PDT Hi all, it's been about 10 years since I bought my last Game PC. Recently I have managed to save some money, I would like to ask your guys input on my build. My goal is to have a good game PC for the next 5 years, with the opportunity to upgrade without having to overhaul everything in the PC. My build now is: Case: Cooler Master N400 - $69 Ram: HyperX Predator 16GB - PC4-24000 - DIMM - $109 SSD: Samsung 860 EVO - 500 GB - $ 105 Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 - $229 Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING - $131 Main supply: Cooler Master MasterWatt 550 - $70 Graphix card: MSI GeForce RTX 2060 VENTUS XS OC - $380 Will this build set me up for the next 5 years of gaming any new games without any problems? Plus, is it possible to upgrade whilst keeping myself in the same price range. I'll gladly answer any further questions! Looking forward to your guy's input, Kind regards [link] [comments]
Just put my new PC together, problems. Posted: 20 Aug 2019 02:40 PM PDT I have just put my first PC together, I have tested to see it come on, the mother board lights up, all the fans are spinning. Now here is where my problem starts, when I plug the DVI cable in, my screen will only show "No Signal". Alright so I switch to HDMI, dosen't work. Then I had tried to plug in my mouse and keyboard, front usb ports and back on the motherboard's ports, none are working. Finished my first Selfbuild PC. Posted: 20 Aug 2019 04:08 PM PDT I'am kinda proud of myself for building a PC myself, since normally i ask for help to build a PC. Parts
all together it cost me 886,67€ My biggest concern was the Biosflash for the MB, since many people had or have problems with it, but if i bought a Tomahawk max i would still have to wait, since they are all out of stock or way to expensive. Here are 2 pictures of my pc https://imgur.com/a/3tFF1fT and i made a UserBenchmark https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/19456360 but something seems off, looks like i have to see how i fix the issues. But well, he still runs very good and i'am really happy. [link] [comments]
Posted: 20 Aug 2019 02:06 AM PDT Hello everyone! I plan to build a new PC at the budget of 1000$ USD/1300$ CDN (excluding the monitor). my main usage for it would be for gaming, digital art, Photoshop, some minor video editing/animation, programming and MATLAB (since I'm starting my computer engineering degree). i have already planned the parts but i would like some feedback whether can i improve on or even cut down the price without compromising much of the performance (my budget for the pc is around 1000$) I'm also conflicted whether to get a GTX 1660 Ti or RTX 2060 Any feedback or help is much appreciated!

Trying to upgrade for about $400. What is the most important upgrade my pc needs? Posted: 20 Aug 2019 07:39 AM PDT I have had my pc for about a year now. The performance has not been bad with easy games like fortnite and MW2, but I know those aren't the most difficult games to run. The only issue I have experienced is the typical clipping fortnite does when you have too many objects in the frame. Here is my build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4c3Tr6 I am sitting on a $100 amex card and willing to drop an extra $300 on top of that. Do you think that should go to something like an RX 5700 https://www.newegg.com/asrock-radeon-rx-5700-rx5700-8g/p/N82E16814930019 ? Or should I address my CPU? Thinking about building, first time Posted: 20 Aug 2019 03:24 PM PDT Howdy, So I've been meaning to upgrade my laptop to an actual gaming desktop for some time, and I've been weighing the options of just buying one or building one. While I'd love to build one, I haven't a clue where to start and have no concrete concept of what I need spec and part wise, and I just generally don't know where to start. I'm also trying to keep costs down as well, so definitely not top of the line elite everything. Hope someone can offer some guidance or resources! Thanks [link] [comments]
Unique Black Screen Problem - PSU? GPU? Posted: 20 Aug 2019 12:37 PM PDT Troubleshooting Help:What is your parts list? Consider formatting your parts list.
It's also worth noting that I swapped the reference blower on my Vega 64 with a Morpheus Rajintek Cooler. This problem did not occur until months after the build though. Describe your problem. List any error messages and symptoms. Be descriptive. Hi all, After a several month break from not being able to play video games, I have been running into a strange black screen error when I play PUBG and Overwatch. I will be mid game (I've noticed this happens frequently right before play of the game in Overwatch or in big team fights, as well as randomly in PUBG). The black screen continues playing the in game music, and I can hear teammates speaking in discord still. Infrequently, they can still hear me during this crash. Sometimes, I can play up to 6 or 7 games in a row in Overwatch and not crash, but once I crash it will crash every 2ish games for the rest of the night. Games like CS:GO and Civ 5 or 6 cause absolutely no issues. My screen remains unresponsive until I force a shut down using the power button on my computer. Another anecdote - I have noticed that my computer is CONSIDERABLY weaker (lower percentile and score compared to previous tests) when run on Userbenchmark. At first I thought it was the GPU, but after lots of trawling online it seems the symptoms more closely match a PSU problem. Before going through an RMA process with EVGA - I'd love to hear some feedback/advice/anecdotes from you guys - should I bother with an RMA or do I simply need a PSU with a higher threshold? (my power usage is estimated around 540W + peripherals with a 750W PSU) List anything you've done in attempt to diagnose or fix the problem. I have updated all drivers including GPU, CPU, motherboard BIOS and Chipset, and made sure that all other drivers are up to date. I've tried running less programs in the background (like not running discord) and it FEELS like that helps but it could be purely anecdotal. Provide any additional details you wish below. EDIT: My GPU temps also never go above 55C-60C so I don't think it's a temperature problem [link] [comments]
So my new 2070 super and 0 FPS increase Posted: 20 Aug 2019 05:48 AM PDT Hello I bought a 2070 super and a new psu for my pc everything went fine with installing it but now when I'm on the pc I see 0 FPS improvement in for example rust I had a 1060 6gb but I still dip down to 60. FPS. My cpu is a i5 8400 and I don't know if it is bottlenecking which it possibly is but still there should be a FPS increase in games. How do I fix this I have the newest drivers [link] [comments]
Need help with first waterlooped pc build Posted: 20 Aug 2019 05:03 PM PDT Just finished putting together my first waterlooped pc build and after flushing the system for a few hours with just the pump plugged into PSU, plug everything else in and attempt to boot up, but it flashes and instantly turns off. I have unplugged and replugged everything multiple times and can't seem to figure it out. Need any help I can get. Here's a video to help explain the issue. Posted: 20 Aug 2019 05:00 PM PDT I built my first ever pc but when I press the power button nothing happens, no fans spin on the cpu nor from the gpu. I used Ryzen 5 1600 Gigabyte A320m-s2h EVGA GTX 1060 3gb EVGA 600w 80+ 128gb SSD 2TB Hard Drive Stock cpu Cooler If anybody can give some tips on troubleshooting or what might be wrong that'll be great as I'm kind of lost. The only thing I did was drop a tiny bit of thermal paste when readjusting the cooler but I cleaned it off with a cotton ball with alcohol. PS: I have a WiFi adaptor that has an led plugged in and it is glowing, don't know if that means anything but I thought that would be a guide to what it could possibly be? Build is complete, however only thing turning on is GPU? Posted: 20 Aug 2019 04:48 PM PDT So I just finished putting everything together and I've double checked all my connections and cords, but I'm still not getting power. When I ever I flick the switch on my PSU my graphics card lights up with a single white LED. However no fan runs, no other LEDs run, and it just seems to not be powering anything. At first I thought it was my MOBO but on unplugging the GPU and turning on the PSU the LED still lights up although now it's red. I've tried just about everything and I can't seem to find anything so far, so I'm hoping some one here may be able to help. Looking for some feedback on the new build I am planning. Posted: 20 Aug 2019 04:46 PM PDT Build Help/Ready:Have you read the sidebar and rules? (Please do) Yes What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better. This will be a gaming PC as well as a casual streaming PC. I dont make a living streaming I just do it occasionally for fun. If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, framerate, game settings) I am building it to a level that should be able to easily handle Cyberpunk 2077 (or at least that's the goal). These are the requirement specs I found for Cyberpunk so i based off that: CPU: Intel i7-8700K @ 3.70 GHz RAM: 16 GB OS: Windows 10 64-bit VIDEO CARD: GeForce GTX 1080 Ti DEDICATED VIDEO RAM: 4 GB What is your budget (ballpark is okay)? I am operating on approximately a 2k budget. Willing to flex it a little for the right parts and a machine that will be more than powerful enough to last me for quite a while. In what country are you purchasing your parts? USA Post a draft of your potential build here (specific parts please). Consider formatting your parts list. Don't ask to be spoonfed a build (read the rules!). Provide any additional details you wish below. I already own a 750gb SSD that will be part of this build as well as one set of the G.Skill Trident Ram so the total RAM will be 32gb. I have built a few PCs before and had good experiences so am mostly just looking for build feedback and identification of any glaring mistakes i may have made. Thanks in advance. Posted: 20 Aug 2019 04:36 PM PDT Hey guys, recently I've been watching that "The $69 Gaming PC returns!" from Linus Tech Tips and I wanted to try it for myself. Instead of an Optiplex 380 however, I have an Optiplex 740 Mini Tower. However, since it isn't the exact same model used in the video, I've only been able to try and look up compatible CPU upgrades and graphics cards. If anyone had any information that could help me I'd greatly appreciate it! [link] [comments]
MOBO LED’s on, but nobody’s home. Posted: 20 Aug 2019 04:31 PM PDT This is my first build ever, and I was so excited to finally have all the parts to build. After assembling everything, the moment of truth came. I hit the power button and nothing happens. No beeps, no fans, no sounds of any sort. My MOBO LEDs are all functioning, but nothing else. I've tested my PSU, and it works fine. I've tried another PSU that I know works, and still nothing. I disconnected all case fans, nada. Checked to see if I somehow messed the connections for the front panel/power button, and I don't think they're wrong. The case came with an adapter for the front panel connections, but don't see those corresponding to the pins on the board. But just Incase, I checked the pinout and tried to jump the power button. Nothing happens. Checked RAM, it's all fine. I'm starting to feel like my MOBO is a dud. Any second opinions or advice? I still have time to RMA but want that to be my last resort.. I'm working with: Ryzen 5 3600 ASRock X570 Steel Legend Corsair CX650M PSU here's a few pictures of the build. Incase anyone was wondering I guess.
