Posted: 14 Aug 2019 01:58 PM PDT Hi folks! I've been trying to figure this out forever. My aunt is a quadriplegic who can only use her head/voice. She desperately wants to read People magazine on her tablet. But I can't figure out a way for her to turn the page without a $1,500 mouse-with-mouth setup. Is there anything I'm missing, such as voice commands, to do this? Any other suggestions? She would even buy a cpu if a tablet can't do it. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Aug 2019 03:54 PM PDT So yeah, as the title says. Every night, this cancerous piece of shit called Google Play Protect deletes a sideloaded app. Without my permission. Despite the app being completely safe. I have turned off the relevant settings as accessed via Play Store > 3-dot icon > Play Protect, but this does nothing to prevent the issue. It does not actually turn off whatever functionality is causing the issue. I'm not rooted, running stock OnePlus 6 updated to latest version. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |
I'm I the only one that consistently has problems with charge ports in phones? Posted: 14 Aug 2019 05:36 AM PDT I've had this problem with smartphones since the micro USB days. Basically the thing that ends up killing my phones is not battery life or screen breaking, but the port becoming unusable. It ends up being so loose in the port that I can't reasonably expect it to stay in over night. I've tried cleaning out the dust with a toothpick, which helps a tiny bit but not very much, even when a good amount of dust comes out. I've tried getting new cables, which again work for MAYBE a month and become just as bad. I see people with two year old phones being able to hold their phone while it's plugged in and I can't believe it. I'm the only person I know that has this issue. I don't do anything weird to my phone that I can think of, I charge it every night and it isn't an issue. Does anyone else have this problem with phones? [link] [comments] |
Where does Google Drive store offline files? Posted: 14 Aug 2019 11:46 AM PDT I looked in android>com.google.apps.docs>data>pinned_files or wherever it is that the Internet says they should be (going on memory) but they're not there. I also tried just using Solid File Explorer to sort my folders by size and look through the biggest ones but I can't seem to find it, even when I checked hidden folders. Any tips? I'm trying to set the offline file storage to be the library folder for an audiobook player, if that helps. [link] [comments] |
Is there a way to change the font and display size for ONLY one app? Posted: 14 Aug 2019 10:30 PM PDT I'm a big fan of Persona 5 so I downloaded a messenger app that looks just like the one in the game. It looks great, but the font and display are way too small. I tried going into my settings and changing the font and display size, and while that made the app look great (exactly like in the game!), it made everything else WAY too big. This is what my home screen looks like now, it made my phone look like it belonged to someone going blind. So is there any way that I can change the font and display size on that specific app to be bigger while still keeping everything else at default size? I already looked through the settings for the app and there isn't an option in there. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Custom screen swipe effects? (8.0, LG v20) Posted: 14 Aug 2019 10:23 PM PDT There's only 4 default ones...could be wrong but is it easy to add more without rooting? To clarify: the home screen icons swiping to other pages/screens [link] [comments] |
Pomodoro app Clear Focus disappeared from the play store, where can I find the apk? Posted: 14 Aug 2019 09:06 PM PDT Any ideas? I really really need it. It was my go to pomodoro app and all the others I've tried just don't compare, it was simple enough and had an amoled theme. [link] [comments] |

Video app that has a brightness control ? Posted: 14 Aug 2019 07:39 PM PDT You know the kind where the brightness adjustment can be turned all the way white to all the way dark ? There is usually a brightness/contrast/saturation slider. I tried MX player but the brightness doesn't work. Thanks. [link] [comments] |

Bluetooth too loud on Android Oreo and beyond? Posted: 14 Aug 2019 05:34 PM PDT Ok I have a problem that has spanned two different phones (LGG5 and LGv30) and three different Bluetooth headsets. (LG TONE HSB-760(x2) & HSB 780). I had and LGG5. It was a great phone, lasted years. During its lifespan one of the OS updates was rolled out. I believe it was Oreo. Once this was released I noticed Bluetooth behavior changed. Instead of a separate volume controls on my headphones and on the phone they were now linked. The previous behavior before Oreo was that my headset would have its own volume control. I could turn it up and down and nothing happened on the phone and vice versa. This gave a good amount of control over the volume levels. After Oreo if I adjusted the volume on the headset the phone volume would change, you can see the slider change on the phone screen. This behavior has persisted with my current phone (LGv30). I think this linked volume control is the root of my problem. The problem is since the Oreo update, the headphones are simply too loud. Its like the headsets defaulted to full volume and then gave up control to the phone. Even with the headphones on their lowest volume settings the Bluetooth is simply too loud, especially in a quiet room. For reference, the lowest volume setting I can achieve is comfortable for walking around a busy grocery store, or walking down the sidewalk with 4 lanes of traffic. In a quiet room it borderlines on uncomfortably loud. As of today, with a LGv30 I STILL have this problem. I have tried multiple headsets, all from the LG TONE line. (HSB 760 and HSB 780). If I test my headsets an ancient galaxy phone or my tablet the headsets are fine, they again have separate volume controls and have a more reasonable volume range. If I use my ISOtunes Bluetooth headset with my phone, again its fine because the volume controls are not linked. So after two phones, and three different headsets, how can I fix this? I have tried an app called "precise volume" among others that increases the volume range of the phone, and it works... except when it stops working, constantly, mid podcast and blasts me with deafening levels of sound. You would think if any devices would play nicely together it would be LG headsets and LG phones. How do I fix this? Things I've tried.

ffmpeg AAC skip the first seconds unless manually rewinded Posted: 14 Aug 2019 05:10 PM PDT Hi, I'm having trouble with ffmpeg encoded AAC playback. The files play well, except they skip the first second or two of each track, when played from a list, or when automatically moving to the next track. Manually rewinding goes to the actual start of the track! (⏮ button, either mid track, or from beginning of next track) ❌ both ffmpeg aac and libfdk_aac codecs have the problem. The files were generated with: Has anyone else encountered this kind of issue? What might be a solution? (Non-rooted answers preferred) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Aug 2019 10:59 AM PDT I got a Pixel 2 about a year and a half ago and I've been impressed by the battery. That is, until about a month ago, when the battery life tanked. Anyone else have this issue after the last Android update, or is it just getting old? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Aug 2019 04:47 PM PDT I am not entirely sure if this is the right subreddit to post this, if not could someone please tell me where else to post/ask this, since I wasn't able to find anything fitting. So I just switched back to Android after some years of iOS and tried getting my WhatsApp history from my old iPhone to my new Android phone for hours and didn't seem to get it working. I then stumbled upon an app to do this for you and tried finding a free apk on google. Sadly, I was not really paying attention and apparently clicked on one of the many wrong download links and installed a suspicious looking app. On opening the app, I got a notification saying the app is outdated and will probably not work on my phone (Galaxy A40, Android 9), I received this on some pre-installed apps too since they weren't up to date so I didn't think any of it. Afterwards though there was a notification from the app saying it's not available in my country. Then it closed itself and just vanished. I was able to track it down in my Apps list right at the bottom, without any icon or name. I disabled all the apps permissions, did force stop it and uninstalled it immediately but I'm still scared I got my phone somehow infected already? I installed Avast and Lookout and they didn't find anything. So my question is basically just what more can I do to check my device or make it more secure and of course I will not try to install apps from outside the app store again, I learned my lesson. In hindsight it was really stupid since the app itself was called "Settings" and had a gear icon, trying to look just like the real settings app, but as soon as I realized that it was already gone. My only hope is it didn't actually do anything since it was not compatible with my Android version? Below I will add some links with more information Metadefender result of apk scan Pictures of app permissions and the app itself Lastly, I uploaded the apk itself separately, in case someone knows what to look for in it or has some more information, be careful though. It does not contain the actual app and therefore does not conflict with rule 5 I'd think? Potentially infected app [link] [comments] |

How to disable automatic device maintenance? Posted: 14 Aug 2019 04:22 PM PDT I have a samsung j5 currently running Nougat, and every time I go to check my storage I have to wait for device maintenance to scan everything in order to "optimise" it. It's very annoying because it freezes my phone up so I have to just sit and wait. Was wondering if there's a way to turn this off? [link] [comments] |
Problems with Google Assistant Posted: 14 Aug 2019 08:49 AM PDT Hope someone can help. I am having issues with Google Assistant voice Activation. It keeps turning off. I have cleared cache and data, uninstalled the latest updates. The on/off switch for voice match is on and all settings correct. It will hear my voice for about an hour then stop recognising my voice. I have tried everything to fix this. After a fix it will again work for about an hour then stop working and I'd have to manually open GA. I am using a Huawei P20 Pro with Android 9 and the latest EMUI updat. Hope someone can help [link] [comments] |

Posted: 14 Aug 2019 08:44 AM PDT Alright so I've done a ton of research and have tried many methods. I've updated drivers on my pc, I've completely reset my phone, I've made sure to check USB Debugging in the developer options on the V20 and the OEM unlock and change the usb connection to MDT. Still nothing. I've tried the LG Bridge app too but it still can't detect the phone. Then I bought a new usb C cable that I knew for a fact works with data transfers and not just charging and I'm still stumped. Any clues? I'm trying to root my phone through the pc instead of a one tap root like king root to avoid adware or any other sketchy malware that might be there. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Posted: 14 Aug 2019 03:59 PM PDT I want to make some personal app projects, but I don't know how "useful" Flutter would be to learn, since Google doesn't have the best track record of long time support of some of their products. How used is it in industry, and is it just worth sticking with Android Studio? (Any websites for industry trends and what's being used right now would also be appreciated!) [link] [comments] |
What kind of USB-A to USB-C cable do I need for quick charge 3.0 on a Nokia 3.1 A? Posted: 14 Aug 2019 03:49 PM PDT I bought a Anker PowerLine cable because I've heard of their reputation on cables. I plugged it in to my wall charger but it just says charging instead of charging rapidly. [link] [comments] |
