PC crashed, now can’t start up

    Posted: 19 Aug 2019 10:36 AM PDT

Hey guys, a little bit ago I was watching a stream on twitch, clicked fullscreen, and my computer suddenly froze, and had some weird flickering going on. I forced shutdown by holding down the power button, because that was all I could do. Now, when I try to start up my computer, it can show the Asus ROG logo and get to the bios, but freezes before it gets to the desktop, or there's no output to my monitors when it gets through the normal startup screens. I've got literally no clue what to do here, and I really need some sort of advice

Update: I tried to do a reinstall of windows, but part way through that install my monitors stopped getting signal again. Now, I think I'm in the middle of a windows install, but I can't see anything

Inspiron 13R N3010: 8 beeps and black screen on startup

    Posted: 19 Aug 2019 06:24 AM PDT

Whenever I hit the power button there is a series of 8 beeps repeating itself. Green vertical lines are displayed over a dark screen (looks like this). Googling seems to indicate this is either an issue with the LCD panel or the GPU. I don't think it's the GPU because when I hook up the laptop to an external monitor, everything is displayed correctly (on the external monitor, the laptop screen stays black) and I can log in to Windows as usual.

What I did to try and resolve the issue:

    1. Run diagnostics by holding D while pressing the power button (if diagnostics were running, I couldn't see anything)
    2. Run diagnostics by holding fn while pressing the power button (same as above)
    3. Disconnect the AC adapter and battery and hold the power button for 15 seconds
    4. Same as above, but holding the power button for 30 seconds
    5. Disconnect and reconnect the screen cable and grounding screw connected to the mobo

This started happening after I disassembled the laptop to replace the HDD and RAM, and to repaste the CPU (followed this YT guide). Obviously I screwed up somewhere but not sure where and how to fix this.

USB Over RJ45 Ethernet Adaptors acting "funky", not being detected sometimes.

    Posted: 18 Aug 2019 08:18 PM PDT

    Hi,

I purchased a set of "USB Over RJ45 Ethernet Adaptors" so that I can place my logitech headsets dongle outside of the computer room to get it in a more central place within the house to essentially extend the effective range of the wireless connectivity.

I've: - Connected it so the male USB to ethernet adaptor is connected to one of the USB 2.0 slots (I've tried USB 3.0 as well) on the back of the motherboard - Connected a 10m ethernet cable - Connected the female USB to ethernet adaptor - Connected the USB dongle

The LED light on the dongle lights up correctly and according to Logitech the light will not illuminate if the dongle isn't getting enough USB power.

The problem is, it doesn't work for some reason, the PC doesn't detect the USB device. Device Manager doesn't have any unknown devices nor does it show the Logitech Dongle.

If I restart the computer the device doesn't always get detected, I restarted 3 times and eventually it got detected and worked flawlessly... but if I have to remove the dongle and put it back in we're back to it not working again.

The reason I have to sometimes remove the dongle is because VoiceMeeter Banana/Potato occasionally has issues with this Logitech device and has some weird distortion going on which you can fix by unplugging the USB and plugging it back in

I've set the windows Power Saving mode to Maximum Performance and disabled all of the USB power saving features but that didn't help :/

Any ideas whats going on and why it's not being detected all of the time?

    Internet keeps dying

    Posted: 18 Aug 2019 05:05 PM PDT

Ok so for several years my internet consistently goes off at random times for like 15 minutes. The times changes a lot it can happen 7pm to like 3am. Sometimes I reset the internet and it works but most of the time I just kinda wait it out till it comes back on. We've swapped our modem recently and the problem persisted (non related reason) and we are in spectrum. If you need more info to diagnose please let me know.

Deleted Files now I can't log in

    Posted: 18 Aug 2019 03:36 PM PDT

Hey guys, so today I deleted all my files from my hp omen 15, I deleted everything through recovery but used the quick delete setup, it only took about some minutes, but then I tried to login and I couldn't so I followed some videos on youtube that led me to booting my pc on safe mode, later I got out and now it said my administrator account had been disabled, so I began searching again, and I couldn't find a solution, I only had the administrator profile and now I can't even access the comand prompt nor I can't use anything related to an administrator access, can someone please help me?

    Power surge mouse

    Posted: 18 Aug 2019 02:51 PM PDT

My mouse stopped working after an electrical loss on my desktop. Got an error saying something is dragging to much power for the usb port to handle. I reinstalled drivers, and it worked for a week or so. Now it's back. Desktop won't even boot while the mouse is plugged in. Other usb devices seem to work flawlessly (keyboard and some chargers etc.) So I think the mouse is busted, however when I plug the mouse into my laptop it works flawlessly. So obviously I'm trying to buy a new mouse, but should I suspect something is wrong with my desktop since the power cut triggered it ?

Win 10, mouse is a razer death adder.
